"Let's start this off season right!"
That's all anyone in FedEx Field could hear coming from the Redskins locker room. Just a steady chant of "Let's go 'Skins" started filling the stadium. Then on the Windy and Rainy Sunday afternoon, here they were.
Kirk Cousins leading the boys in red, one after another, Jordan Reed, Josh Norman, Rob Kelley. Everyone was starting to come out. As soon as the Eagles came though, it was a different story, the loudest "BOOING" anyone could imagine. But little did Washington know that they were going to come out victors in this contest.
With a final score ending in 51-47, a 98 point shootout in Week One, we had to catch up with Washington's Coach to see what went on out there. All we could get out of him was "What The F-" he would take no further question and would give no other comments.
All we really have to say to that is, can the Washington Defense pull it together for Week 2? Or will it be an ugly and long season for the Redskins?
THE 2017
WASHINGTON REDSKINS
"Yeah, we went out there, I don't even know what happened..."
- Redskins' Owner
A devastating loss for the Redskins as they come back from a bye week. Dak Prescott decided that he would try to take a fast approach at slinging passes into as tight of gaps as possible, as for the Redskins defense, they had other plans. They picked Dak off a total of three times. The real question here is, what was Kirk Cousins doing? He threw four INTs, no quarterback should be throwing that many in a game.
Cousins did throw two bombs to Jordan's Reed (Both TDs) but that doesn't make up for his pathetic gameplay. The Cowboys defense had a slow start but figured themself out by the second half with a good locker room pep talk. The punt returns were solid for the boys as they even returned one for a touchdown. Not to mention the defense had a pick six by Stephon Gilmore.
The Cowboys will go on a bye week as for the Redskins, they better get back to the drawing board, and figure out a second half gameplan.
With a headed rivalry coming up next week between the Dallas Cowboys at the Washington Redskins, Kirk Cousins has a lot of pressure on his back. With coming off a buy week, Cousins feels that the bye week they just had is exactly what they need after coming from a last second field goal loss to the San Diego Chargers.
We talked with the Redskins' leading reciver Jordan Reed who is having an outstanding year for a TE, he told us, "We went out, we played hard against the Chargers, if our kicking would have been better that game would have been won, but sadly we let it slip." Reed said.
Knowing that the Cowboys were a playoff contender last year, the 'Skins know it won't be an easy task this year. They have to put as much hustle as they have heart into this game to show Washington they are the real deal this year after suffering what seemed to be one of the worst seasons in franchise history.
