The 1st Edition
During the 2016 NFL draft, the Washington Redskins had their eyes set on 3 up and coming out of the class. They selected Josh Doctson with their 22nd overall pick, Su'a Cravens with the 53rd pick and Kendall Fuller with the 84th. In their four seasons:
Kendall Fuller recorded 181 tackles, 11 interceptions and 28 pass breakups
*Su'a Cravens recorded 93 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 10 interceptions
*Josh Doctson recorded 157 receptions, 2331 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns
After little success and firing their previous owner and head coach, the team is headed into a rebuild/win now era. Heading into year 2020, an interesting incident with the future of the franchise placed new head coach and owner into a tough predicament. Apparently there was a huge argument with these players and it ended in the players not wanting to resign leaving only the new representative of the team to franchise 1 player. It was such a tough decision especially with the level of talent these guys had to offer. Not only that but it seemed the previous owner was known as a big spender sending ridiculous contracts to players who haven't preformed to earn these contracts. Trying to clear some of the contracts in the future years and patiently waiting for veternans to hang up their cleats is the only way to get back on track with competing in this league.
As of now, the team is 16 mil over the cap with 48 players ready to play and general manager George V. Is looking ahead to the draft to scoop up talent to restart the engines and make a run to the Super Bowl in the coming years. The teams decision to franchise Kendall Fuller was based on production and proficiency and we hope this decision won't disappoint the team like what the previous owner has done. It'll be a challenge but George will be ready and give it his all to this team and for it's fans. Tune in
tomorrow at 10 for its piece on looking at draft prospects, team needs and possibly building a chemistry.
