AFC North Offseason Grades

SLC FLYERS 94 ovr

The Fylers went from a 87 overall to a 94! They seem to be cleaning house releasing names such as Demarius Thomas WR (83 ovr), Justin Tucker K (87 ovr), Nyjee Forston FS (87 ovr) , C Anthony Castanzo (83 ovr) , and CB Jimmy Smith (86 ovr) to name some notable.

Making it rain with all that cap space. The Flyers acquired one of the most sought after players in this years free agency. SS Micheal Jordon (99 ovr) signing the 27 yr old coverage safety to a 7 yr deal! Yeah he'll be 34... Although he has all the tools to get the job done,  he lacks in one of the most important categories with only 86 spd.  They also added 2 veterans to the offensive line in Patrick Omameh (93 ovr), and Jack Mewhort (96 ovr), and lastly ading village bicycle TE Rob Gronkowski.

The Flyers draft went well. Filling some much needed holes they drafted their TE of the future Lamel Williams (79 ovr) with the 5th overall pick. Also a solid center with their 2nd pick in Mike Keiser (80 ovr). In the 3rd round they picked (70 ovr) Trey Ingram WR  and (70 ovr) DT Will Sander who both look decent given they get an opportunity to progress.

Draft Grade: C+

Offseason Grade: B+

Season Prediction: 8-8

San Antonio Marshalls 96 OVR

The Super Bowl Champions went from 97 to a 96 ovr. Just like every other season they once again made some moves trading some of their best players in RB Christain McCaffery (99 ovr), and London Hudson (99 ovr). Investing it in their youth development skills. Some other notable players they let walk are MLB Christian Kirksey (86 ovr), C Kevin Zeitler (94 ovr), FB Joita Crayton (87 ovr), and Marquz North WR (83 ovr).

The Marshalls made it clear they had a need for speed in this years draft as they drafted 11 of the cheesiest players available. Some notables would be 3rd ovr pick OLB Eric Pruitt (80 ovr) 88 spd definitely a difference maker, and in true Max fashion seems to be currently taking advantage of the Dev skills the DT position has to offer. Next was the fastest MLB in the draft Malcom Gay 87 spd (67 ovr) Drafted at the end of the first he definitely has the physical attributes, but needs some help developing skill. They then drafted a stud DT with the 1 pick of the 2nd round in (80 ovr) Byron Sweezy. Their later picks include speedy RB (69 ovr) Antoine Barnard his 95 speed should be a great fill in for CMC. At CB they drafted (66 ovr) Lemarcus Grant a 95 speed phenom. Last worth mentioning, 95 speed WR Marshall Mundy (68 ovr) who will also need some developing, but who better than Max to get these rookies up to speed.

Draft Grade: A-

Offseason Grade: B

Season Prediction: 13-3

Cincinnati Bengals 85 OVR

Hello? Anyone home?...  The Bengals made zero trades or offseason acquisitions this year other than their draft picks, and Nathan Peterman at QB.. Although they were rumored to be shopping around (85 ovr) John Ross he just has not developed into his full potential, and did not receive much interest from other teams. They did let a couple people walk including 83 ovr RG Wes Schweitzer, 80 ovr Tyrod Taylor, and 27 yr old 93 speed CB TJ Logan.

In the draft the Bengals drafted 2 players worth mentioning. 82 ovr CB Cory Bostic who looks great, and 74 ovr SS Marcques Armstrong. I see Guff slowly losing interest as other teams develop he seems to be at a stand still. At this Guff's natural madden skills won't be enough to have a winning record this season or any season from here on out.

Draft Grade: D (didn't even draft)

Offseason Grade: D   did nothing :(

Season Prediction: 3-13

Pittsburgh Steelers 90 OVR

Blake's Steelers went from 89 ovr to 90. They cleaned house releasing some big names on the Oline to make room for some of the young bucks. Starting with 32 yr old 89 ovr RG David Decastro, 33 yr old 90 ovr C Kelechi Osemele, and 34 yr old  95 ovr LT Trent Williams. They Also dropped two wide receivers one which leaves you scratching you head is 26 yr old Lynn Swann who at 26 has plenty of gas in the tank. The other 30 yr old 90 ovr WR Keenan Allen who has since moved on to the River Pigs..

Like the Bengals the Steelers also were not present for the draft, and with the 13th ovr pick in the draft the Steelers picked 5'8" 96 spd WR Terell King. Other than his height at 81 ovr he seems pretty solid and can still have an impact on their offense / special teams if used correctly. They did address the Oline needs drafting 71 ovr LT Derek Bair, and 77 ovr C JT Bias. The Steelers did also draft a stud at FB in the 4th round 83 ovr Anthony Moreno.

Draft Grade: C-

Offseason Grade: B-

Season Prediction: 8-8

Final Stretch

The Chargers season has been full of ups and downs this season. In true Chargers fashion they went from 1st in the division starting 5-0 to now last as the Broncos technically do not count.. The latest loss against the Oilers (2-9) who still won the game. They could barely must a total of 100 yards rushing and passing combined and only had 3 pass completion. The fact that they could not beat a team with 0 offense shows that the chargers needs some serious change in their play calling. Coach Lynn stated they were trying some new plays and underestimated their opponent. Warner threw 4 picks in his own red zone and gave away multiple FG's in doing so. The Chargers are not out of it yet, and need to step it up on offense if they are to make a run.

Keep Calm Charge On

After starting off 5-0 the Chargers seem to be a bit flustered losing their 3rd straight game. This time to the raiders whom they haven't lost to in the past 5 seasons. Whatever is going on in LA it needs to turn around as the AFC west seems to have woken up this season and become competitive again. The chargers do have 3 rookies on defense and seems as thought they are needing some much needed practice to get back on schedule. Coach Anthony Lynn stated that the locker room is still full of energy and the team is still full of fight and intends to take the division yet again.

Russians Are Invading NFL!!!

The Chargers went a bit unconventional in this years draft scouting 3 Russian natives for the first time ever in the NFL. Coach Lynn is well aware it will take some time to develop these young players, however there is no arguing the fact that they are all some very impressive specimens. We have their new FS Viktor Kozlov a speedy 6' 4" beast who's last name means GOAT in Russian. He's a favorite for this years ROTY with 2 int's already in his first game in the NFL. Next taking over for Jatavis Brown who the Chargers traded to the saints is MLB Buck Stepanovich. He is a little slower than his counter part Brown, but with 86 speed Buck is taller, hits harder, and has been compared to Luke Keuchley. Lastly we have the 6'7" ROLB taking over for Denzel Perriman. Originally scouted as a DE his 6'7" hight and his 85 speed make him a force to be reckoned with. He too has made an early impact scooping up a fumble for 6 in his first game. The Chargers seem Ready to make a run at the super in a very competitive AFC.

Hobbled and Humbled

The Chargers definitely had high hopes going into playoffs. With the loss of Melvin Gordon the Chargers spent a hefty 2.5 million on RB Jeremy Langford who looked like he just wasn't acclimated to the offense. All things considered it was a great game that came down the the final INT thrown by the Heisman who against all odd just won the 2019 Quarterback of the Year award. The Chargers are in great spirits and already prepping for their next season. They're going to be looking to focus on developing their rookie TE Chandler Worrilow in replacement of Hunter Henry who they ended up trading and recieving the 3rd overall pick in this upcoming draft. Look for the Chargers to continue to add to their offense in this upcoming draft..

Best In The West

The Chargers looked poised for yet another Playoff run this season. With the remainder of their opponents being the Titans, Mounties, and Raiders it seems the only real challenge will be against the Raiders who they skirted by in an overtime win earlier this season. The Chargers are coming off a very unfortunate loss in the pouring rain vs the bears who's only touchdown was a pick six thrown by rookie QB Ross Warner (his 3rd pick 6 in just 2 weeks). After that the chargers somehow missed two 20 yrd field goals one in the final seconds that would have guaranteed them the win. As if things couldn't get worse they lost their workhorse RB Melvin Gordon for a 2nd straight season. This couldn't have come at a worse time considering he will be out 6 weeks and there are only 3 weeks left in the regular season. All things considered the Chargers look poised to take the AFC west for a 2nd year in a row. A great accomplishment that will likely come down to the final game of the season Vs the raiders. As always stay classy y'all

Under Construction

The Chargers Head coach has been known for trading some of their best players in the past, but I don't think anyone saw them trading TE Hunter Henry. They got themselves a 1st round pick from the London Bulldogs who at this point have not won a game.. Seems as if that choice is really going to pay off this offseason. The chargers seem to be very focused on the long term rather than short term success. Whoever seems to be scouting for them is a genius as almost all their draft picks as of late have been stellar. Look for the chargers to try to add some depth in an offense that has been struggling as of late.

Draft Kings

In yet another twist of fate the Chargers have somehow drafted one of the best players in the draft in CB Ray McKenzie. In an already stacked defense McKenzie is poised to take over for Casey Hayward who has been absolutely stellar in his time with the chargers. Hayward has moved to the slot as of now to let the rookie showcase his speed and athleticism. Coach Anthony Lynn has been under fire for this decision as Hayward has been clamping some of the best Wr's the league has to offer. However Lynn has the utmost confidence in the rookie stating " I know Ray has some big shoes to fill however we are at a point where we need to get this kid developed as he is the future of our franchise." In other news the Chargers seem to be actively working the trade block offering up Hunter Henry. A great receiver who has really been struggling opening up running lanes for RB Melvin Gordon. It seems the chargers are opting to go with rookie TE Chandler Worrilow who is an iffy receiver, but stellar run blocker. Chargers are 1-0 with one of the tougher schedules in the league. Let's see if they can repeat success and make it back in the playoffs where they were unfortunately eliminated in the wild card match up vs the Colts.

One and Done!

The Chargers were very pleased with their season minus a couple mishaps. They lost their star lineman and rookie qb almost all season, but found a way to pull together a solid season after all. The Chargers were excited to have their offensive weapons back. However when it came down to the big game in the playoffs the rookie QB Warner did not look ready for the spotlight. Losing their workhorse running back Melvin Gordon who has 17 TD's on the season on his 3rd touch spelled disaster in the early stages. The Chargers put all their hope into Warner who although had a solid game could not make it happen in the absence of Gordon. All thst being said the Colt were simply unstoppable on offense. Big ups to them. Hope they can take it all the way!

Next Man Up Mentality

The Los Angeles Chargers found a way to turn things around as they continue to fight their way into playoffs this season. Injuries have plagued the offense as they lost their #1 pick Heisman winner Ross Warner as well as #1 offensive lineman Forrest Lamp. The "next man up" mentality is what keeps the Chargers thriving and winning games. Although backup Cardale Jones stepped up to beat the red hot Seahawks and break a six game win streak. The Chargers opted to go with the more experienced Brock Oswieler who looked great against the Toronto Mounties. With last year's superbowl champs the Cleveland Browns next up on the schedule. The Chargers have a true test ahead of them. One that could likely determine whether or not they make the playoffs.  Look for them to try and get an early lead and keep that offense off the field as they rely on their star Melvin Gordon in the run game.

SMELL-A Chargers

After an early bye week the Los Angeles Chargers look to turn things around after a lack luster start this year. They are now 1-2 and look to bounce back from their slow start in a rematch vs the Raiders who dogged a bullet via "mystery sim". The rumor is that the chargers are triggered as around the league teams are poking fun at their new starting QB Heisman winner Warner. He's been off to a slow start. Partly due to the fact that Melvin Gordon has been playing like Melvin Gordon. In turn taking pressure off the spry young rookie who lately has been looking like a deer in the headlights. Coach Anthony Lynn takes most responsibility in the matter stating that the coaching staff has been slowly trying to integrate him into the offense. Lynn stated "Look he's a rookie QB. We expected a slow start. We are not looking at any other options at QB, and know that once we get him up to speed the chargers will be team to look out for in a very competitive division." Back to you Bob..

How did they do it!!?

The NFL was left scratching their heads after this latest draft. The chargers were left in a tough spot after this offseason when they parted ways with Philip Rivers, and Jeremiah Attaochu (bless you). However they not only successfully filled those holes, but did so by signing the best possible candidates. The LA Chargers drafted the Heisman trophy winning QB who is sure to make an instant impact on offense as well as arguably the best linebacker in the draft to fill in for Attaochu (bless you). In addition they beefed up their line as they continue to build around their rookie guards. After a tough season last year football fans from all over are excited to see what these new rookies can bring to the table. They look to take on the Bengals week one who for some crazy reason have been running their mouths.. Let's hope they can back it up.

Time For a Newbie QB?

The chargers have announced they will be parting way with QB Phillip River at seasons end. Things seem to be heating up in the draft. If you remember earlier in the season the chargers made a trade with the Colts in which they received a 1st round draft pick. Unbeknown to them the colts would actually use that trade to become one of the leagues leading offenses. Leaving the Chargers with a very late 1st round draft pick for their best player on offense. A decision the Chargers most likely regret at this point. However all thing considered the Charger will look to fill some offensive holes as thier defense lead be Joey Bosa was one of the league leaders shutting down most of the top offenses in the league. They have the weapons.... Do they have the drive?? We will soon find out.

Cry me a Rivers

"Different city same shit..." A San Diego fan was quoted saying.. In true Chargers fashion Los Angeles blows a 3-0 start, and seem to have given up on their season. The Chargers have benched Pillip Rivers for rookie Cardale Jones. The backup QB has not been able to spark anything on offense either. In fact he took 8 sacks against the Bills. That's right 8 sacks! It seems as though the problem is not just Phillip rivers, but the offensive line. The 2 outside tackles who seem to be asleep on the field have just not been doing thier job. The chargers have 2 first round picks this draft and will look to add some depth to thier offensive line as well as a possible new QB prospect.

AFC Alpha's Are Here to Stay

It comes as no surprise that the Los Angeles Chargers dominated at home vs the Kansas City Queefs. Rookie Pat Mahomes threw 6 interceptions and looked lack luster at best. CBS brodcaster Chris Collinsworth was quotes saying "This could be one of the biggest QB busts since the days of Ryan Leaf!" On the other hand the Chargers defense looked stout and poised. Offensively it was apparent that the Chargers were missing their star WR Keenan Allen who has since moved on to the Colts. However with Tyrell Williams (currently 5th in recieving yards), Speedster Travis Benjiman, and standout rookie Mike Williams on the roster this decision makes alot of sense. Mainly because the chargers recieved a valuble 1st round pick in return. A pick which they will use to add some depth to their already blessed roster. As they continue on their flawsless 3-0 start they look east to stop the Philidelphia Eagles in week 4 in hopes to keep the streak alive.
