Mile High Madness - Denver Broncos Week 16

Hello All !! It is Week 16 here in the MBL and things are heating up in the AFC/NFC playoff race! We are currently sitting at 7-7 with two games left in the season. Stick around , kick back , relax & enjoy the blog !

Looking Ahead:

  • - Week 16 - This week, we will play our last division game of the season as we take on the Chargers. San Diego's playoff hopes are all but gone at this point, but that won't stop them from playing spoiler. This team plays 110% every time they are on the field & they never give up. We don't think it is gonna be a pushover , but if we can contain Gordon & the flashy Cason Singletary, then our chances of winning the game will be higher.  Another big game this week will be the Raiders vs. Chiefs. They are  both 6-8 and fighting for the division alongside Denver. Whoever can control the ground game will be the difference maker in that one.
  • - Week 17 - Next week, we close the season out on the road vs. the MBL Vikings. This is another team that has been struggling this season as they are currently 3-11. It will be a battle of the rookie WR that were drafted in the MBL Season 21 Live Draft! 6'6 Monster Tre Hackett (Drafted 1st Rd, 2nd Overall) vs. the Speedster Tavon Whitlock (Drafted 1st Rd, 3rd Overall). Hackett is clearly having the better season as he has already racked up over 1,200yds and 5td on 72 receptions ( through 14 games). Our main focus will be shutting down Hackett & forcing his QB to seek other options, which will in turn force turnovers.

Congratulations MLB Brandon Marshall !

  • Who said you don't get better with age? Well Brandon Marshall is proving the haters wrong. He is currently leading the league in Interceptions with 13 on the season through 14 games played. 13 is the lucky number that broke the all time MBL Season INT record, which was previously 11int by CB Thaddeus Shuler (AZ Cards Season ) .  He broke the record last week vs. Chicago as he knabbed 2 picks in the 20-16 crucial road win. "Feels great to finally make the record books! That's what we strive for, along with bringing the Lombardi trophy home to the Great Mile High city! We are here to make some NOISE!" - Marshall after last weeks game vs CHI. B Marsh is also on pace to win Best LB in the AFC if he can keep it up. Just because he broke the record , doesn't mean he is going to slouch now by any means. This guy has been the true heart and soul of this defense this year as Vonn Miller has had down numbers.

Mile High Madness - Denver Broncos Week 12

The Broncos media staff would like to first apologize for not having an article for the Week 8 Mile High Madness season review. Since we missed the week 8 blog , we will do a recap of weeks 5-12 of MBL Season 22 on your Denver Broncos! Without further or do , let's get started!

WEEKS 5-8:
- vs. JAX (W) We ended up getting a sloppy win in this defensive brawl 13-6. Rookie 7th rd Pick Shontrelle McIntosh carried the load putting up 115+ yds on 13 attempts with 1 TD. This put us at 4-1 , but after this week things started trending south ...

- vs. DET (L) This game was an all around blowout and tipping point of the season for us. It showed us what kind of team we really are when we go up against the reigning SB champ. We lost 41-16 at home and had absolutely no rhythm

- vs. CLE (L) In a well fought game , this one could have gone either way . Both teams had very similar statistics at the end of the game but a few costly turnovers and late penalties sealed our fate .

- vs HOU (L) The mid season meltdown continues as we lose another close game 13-20 on the road. Houston dominated us from the start as we could not get things going throughout the game. They demolished us and time of possession and we just couldn't seem to to score when we had the chances.

WEEKS 9-12:
- vs. IND (L) Terrible, terrible , terrible outing on offense. We forced 6 INT and still couldn't find a way to win! Our defense played their hearts out but a late drive by Andrew luck capped off a game winning TD as we lose 17-10.  Losing streak moves to 4 in a row and fans are really starting to question HC Kubiak's play calling.

BYE WEEK: At this point in the season, We stand at 4-5 in control of the AFC west as our other division mates seem to be struggling as well. We started off 3-1 and now have gone 1-4 in our past 5 games. Although we are currently on a 4 game losing streak, it is still early in the season with plenty of football to play!

Over the Bye Week, we came to terms with a few of our players that needed to be re-signed. CB Chris Harris Jr. Finally accepted our 3rd offer for a 1 yr deal worth 12.1 Mil. We are ecstatic  to have him back on the team! FS Justin Simmons & 2nd String TE Darren Waller both got 4yr extensions as well over the break!

- vs. OAK (L) This was one of our toughest losses of the season. Neither team could find rhythm in this gruesome defensive division battle. Our special teams play that game was horrific. Giving up over 130yd + and a TD just alone on special teams. Tough loss 17-22 at home.

- vs KC (W) At this point we are tied for the division lead with the Chiefs at 4-6 heading to Arrowhead for a week 12 division matchup. Both teams have played each other several times so they are familiar with their play style. This game came down to the absolute last second to determine the outcome. Trey McIntyre was lighting up the Denver defense all day but the defense stood tall in the end. Shaq Barrett snags an INT with less than 10 seconds left in the red zone to prevent the game from going to OT. Broncos win 10-3 on the road and snap a 5 game losing streak.

WHO'S HOT?
- Brandon Marshall: Through 12 weeks B Marsh has a league leading 10 Interceptions, along with 49 Tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 Forced fumble & 1 Touchdown. He is on pace to break the MBL record for most Interceptions in a season which is currently 11 held by CB Thaddeus Shuler in Season 9 with the Arizona Cardinals. Marshall is a HUGE difference maker on this Denver defense & he brings a ton of energy to the team!

WHO'S NOT?
- Dez Bryant: Father Time may be creeping up on Dez as we are not seeing the numbers we would expect to see thus far. On the season he only has 551 yds on 35 receptions with just 2 TD. He is a reliable target, but just can't seem to break the big gains like he used to back in Dallas. It takes time to learn a new scheme, but can you teach an old dog new tricks? The team is going to get him involved a lot more in the final weeks & see if he's worth keeping for the long haul.

Mile High Madness - Denver Broncos Week 4

Just 4 weeks into MBL Season 22, the Broncos are sitting at 3-1 in control of the AFC West currently. Coming off a huge road win in Oakland on a last second interception by CB Kent Brooks in the endzone. " I like the way we have been playing as a team. Paxton is truly showing confidence & our defense has been there when called upon. Every game has been close thus far, but if we keep winning this may be our year!" -HC Gary Kubiak

RE-SIGNED: QB Paxton Lynch (25 years old) --> 6yrs / 95mil. Despite his unsteady start to the MBL, the Broncos have made it official that Lynch will be their guy running the show. He had a phenomenal rookie year finishing the season with a 93.7 QBR, 30 TD & just 9yds shy of 4,000 passing yards. The next two seasons however, he fell off to a 66.1 QBR & threw 15 more ints than TDS both seasons. Currently he is ranked top 10 for (1,049) passing yds and (6) passing TDs through 4 weeks while maintaining a 83.3 QBR. Bringing in Bryant & Whitlock along with the development of our TE Traylon Goodson & our drafted O-linemen has been a huge help to Paxton's success this season .

STILL NEGOTIATING: CB Chris Harris Jr. (30 years old) We understand if you play like a superstar , you deserve superstar type money. Chris is getting up there in age & has been regressing the past few seasons. Management has already offered Harris Jr. two separate deals and he denied both offers. "We will try to make 1 last attempt to sign Chris. If he doesn't like the offer, then I'm sorry to say, but he can test Free Agency." - GM Porter. The franchise tag can still be used at the end of the season, but it may be in the teams best interest to let him go and save some Cap Space.

Looking forward to our next four games, we will face : Jaguars, Lions, Browns & then Texans. The only team in this span with a winning record would be Bomber's Lions. That game will be a true test to our season to see if we are a Super Bowl caliber team. Despite the Jaguars & the Texans having losing records, we will not count them out. They have both been  to the playoffs before and they truly know what it means to compete. The Browns are 2-2 and have been on an upswing as well. Their team has had a lot of young talent come out of these MBL drafts & they are building a nice team over in Cleveland.

Mile High Madness - Denver Broncos Week 1

Pre-Season Recap:

We finish the pre season with a record of 3-1 showing some serious firepower on offense . Both Rookies HB McIntosh & WR Whitlock really showed out and will be a force to be wreckoned with. " I Am very satisfied with the teams play in preseason & look forward to reclaiming the AFC West & hopefully further." - GM Porter. Heading into week 1 of MBL Season. 22, we are scheduled to face the Miami Dolphins. Recent reports are that Landry suffered an injury during pre season and will be out when we face them. Despite their losing tendencies in Miami, we never underestimate our opponent and play each game like it's the Super Bowl.

Triple Threat HBs:

#1 Shontrelle McIntosh - Recent 7th rd pick this draft , this guy will look to prove himself as he takes the starting role over Ameer Abdullah & Lorenzo Taliaferro. McIntosh ran for 300 yds & 3 td through 4 pre season games. He is a shifty back and many reporters such as Skip Bayless thinks Shontrelle reminds him of Devontae Freeman . The Broncos did pick up some younger lineman in the offseason to help open holes for McIntosh. Although McIntosh is 22 years old we will look to split carries with Abdullah (Shontrelle handling the bulk of the load).

#2 Ameer Abdullah - Before heading into the draft we didn't know what we wanted to do. CJ Anderson had just hit 28 years old , regressed and was on his last year of his contract . Our intentions were to sign Ameer as our starter and find someone else as back up, but that did not go as planned. Abdullah's Agility, elusiveness, ball carrier vision & juke moves really struck our eye when bidding free Agency. He will be a solid #2 back that will keep the defense guessing.

#3 Lorenzo Taliaferro - This guy is a pure bruiser. Hailing from Coastal Carolina University we will have Taliaferro at our # 3 back. He is great for short yardage situations & is a true powerback. With excellent trucking and stiff arm attributes, I believe all 3 HBs can make a HUGE difference to this offense.

Final Cuts / Additions:

With less than an hour until the start of MBL season 22, The Broncos organization have made their final cuts to a 53 man roster. The team was right at 53 players during week 4 preseason but we figured we would switch up our defensive backs up a little bit this year . Both CBs Kavon Webster & Cornelius Boyd were released this morning after an incident in a down town night club. In return we picked up CBs Quentin Dunbar (ex-redskin) & Fenton Samuel off the Tampa Bay Bucs practice squad. We will see how they can adjust to our team and make changes as needed, but for now.. THE MBL DENVER BRONCOS ARE READY FOR SEASON 22!!

Mile High Madness - Denver Broncos

Season 21 Recap : Denver Broncos

It was a rough season for the Broncos as we finish with a 7-9 record, last in the AFC west division. Just a year prior we went 11-5, won the division and made the playoffs under new ownership GM Porter. "Many factors played into our down season, but we look to re build through this free Agency & become playoff contenders once again!" Head Coach Gary Kubiak after recent press conference.

- Key Players -

(QB) Paxton Lynch: This guy was top 10 in passing yards & passing touchdowns in Season 21 MBL.  His downfall --> 22 Sacks, 37 INTs. We will not be able to win games unless we keep our quarterback protected & the splash plays to a minimum. He is a GREAT quarterback with huge potential but spends way too much time in the pocket letting his routes develop. Trainers have been focusing on his pocket presence all off season & he seems to be doing much better.

(CB) Bradley Roby: From the moment Roby came to visit our facility we knew this was our guy & we had to have him. Going on 27 years of age, he has stepped up big time since recent veteran CB Aqib left us last season. We re-signed Roby to a year year deal last year for $25mil and he is worth every penny. This guy is a true playmaker. He had a combined 58 tkl, 6INT, 1 Safety, & 1 TD last season. He has proved he is well worth the position at CB #2. Him & Chris Harris Jr. Are quite the force to be reckoned with on this Denver secondary. Although this is Chris Harris Jr.'s final season (seaon 22) we will look to tag him if we cannot come to terms on a deal.

Moving forward in Mile High

- Free Agency Releases -

(WR) Demaryius Thomas: DT was on his last year of his contract and the staff felt that we could get more depth if we just release him. He ended up clearing over 16mil cap which allowed us to Bid on multiple free agents.

(WR) Emmanuel Sanders: Easy E was on his final year as well. Regression hit bad this offseason and we had to do what was best for the organization and release him. They are both fantastic players, but we felt we could get more bang for our buck.

(HB) CJ Anderson: once again regression hit the team bad as CJ dropped nearly 20 pts this off-season. He too was sent to free agency this morning after an argument about playing time in season 22 with Head Coach Kubiak.

(MLB) Zaviar Gooden: entering his final contract and finishing the season with below average numbers at MLB 2 , we decided to release him. He is a very quick player but does not have the on field awareness to make plays

- Free Agency Acquisitions -

We were able to pick up a few big name starters this off-season, but for the most part we decided to add depth to our roster

(WR) Dez Bryant: The man. The myth. The Legend. That's right, we decided to sign the "X" factor Dez Bryant after releasing both Thomas and sanders . Even though Bryant is getting older he is a very reliable target and can make quick cuts when needed . He will be very valuable in our passing attack along with Cody Core, Traylon Goodson, & Others.

(C) Mike Iupati: The Broncos offensive line has been hurting since the day MBL began the Madden 17 CFM. This is a HUGE signing for us! Mike agreed to a 2yr deal & we are ecstatic to bring in this Veteran to fill out Center position.

(HB) Ameer Abdullah: Since we opted to drop Anderson we were actively seeking a HB whether it be the draft or FA. Look no further as we found Ameer Abdullah released by the Super Bowl Champions Detriot Lions. Anderson was on his last year of his contract and he wasn't putting up the numbers last year so the organization figured they'd go a different route. Abdullah is 2 years younger and a lot more shiftier than Anderson. With the right protection , Abdullah can easily be a 1,000 yd rush/season in years to come . We look forward to seeing him on the field this year .

(WR) Deaires Campbell: Not quite the big name guy, but this guy is a MONSTER... literally. Only 23 years old Reigning 6'6 at WR , he will be one of the tallest guys on the field. His excellent jumping and decent hands make him the perfect red-zone threat. He will line up at WR #4 this season.

(SS) Dezmin Southward: 2 seasons ago, Broncos decided to draft SS viliami Lamur in the first round out of Notre Dame to fill TJ Wards position. The backup to lamur was Will Parks. Throughout the season parks was not very competive, whether it be practice or in game. We did not like his attitude towards the team so we ended terms with him and sought after Southward. Within hours, Southward accepted the contract and will assume the backup role between Lamur.

(CB) Tavon Young : although we don't need much help at the CB postition currently, we figured we would give Tavon a shot. He is only 25 years old and has great footwork. He will line up in the #4 slot.

(HB) Lorenzo Taliaferro: This guy is a true bruiser at HB. He absorbs hits and just keeps trucking. We are looking forward to adding him as HB 2 behind Abdullah.

(RG) Jamon Brown: 26 year old guard weighing in at 323 lbs, you can't pass up on that! He will play behind current Guard Levitre until further notice.

(RG) Hayden Masthay: Although we have just signed Iupati at Center, we decided to add some youth behind him. He is listed as guard but will be moved to backup Center. Hayden is only 23years old and can learn great things valuable techniques from Iupati.

(OLB) Darren Bates: Recently the organization decided to move olb Shaq Barrett to MLB. This put Shane Ray as our starter and we were in search for a backup. We have decided to pick up this veteran on a 2yr deal.

(TE) Craig Stevens: The Broncos drafted a TE last year in Traylon Goodson, and added Waller and free Agency as well. This year they found their 3rd and final TE. Veteran Stevens will be a huge help in run blocking situations.

(LE) Chris Smith: with Jacquies Rodgers deal ending this past year, we were in need for another defensive end. For the value , we decided to pick up 27 year old Chris smith.

(CB) Derrick Breaston: Although is primary position is CB , The only time you will see him on the field is during Kick returns. Him and Trufant will be returning kicks this year.

(LT) Easton Foreman: He is a 22 year old sophomore looking to learn from Russell Okung before he takes his spot . Average blocking skills but he has the potential to be great .

(MLB) Brian Cushing: this was a veteran steal in free Agency this year . He is 32 years old but he is still playing like he's in his mid 20s.  He will line up at MLB behind B. Marshall & S. Barrett

- THE DRAFT -
As many of you know we made a few trades this offseason . First we traded Oakland, #45, #77, & #109 in return for the #25 pick in the 1st rd .

We then went ahead and traded our two 1st rd picks plus our 2nd & 3rd rd pick next year to acquire Miami Dolphins #3 overall pick .

This only left us with one pick until the 5th round , but that is ok because we filled most needs in Free Agency .

With the 3rd Overall Selection of the MBL Season 22 draft , The Broncos select ... 6'1 WR Tavon Whitlock (Quick Dev) out of The University Florida. This guy will be play maker from day one along side recent acquisition Dez Bryant, re- signed Cody Core, and sophomore  TE Traylon Goodson . He has Execllent hands and quick feet which will help him break away from defenders easily.

Whitlock's Combine Results:
40 yd dash: 4.29
Vert jump : 41.8"
Broad jump: 10.3"
3 cone: 6.72
20 yd shuffle: 3.97
Bench press: 15 reps

"We felt that it was in our best interest to trade up and draft a top tier WR. Since we let go of vetereans Demaryius Thomas and  Emmanuel Sanders we decided to go after Dez Bryant in free acency and take a WR in the draft . Bringing in Abdullah too will really bring some fire power to this offense . WE are very excited for Season 22." - GM Porter
