Broncos- Needs: QB OL OLB
So Broncos with the first pick of the draft have options. Biggest issue they have is a lack of an entire offensive line with two vacancies open. Odds are they will go and draft either a center or guard right away. The obvious pick with be Justin Garrett. Top interior offensive linemen in this draft. It is unfortunate because they are in a prime position to upgrade from Lock and improve their outside linebacker position in what looks like a very scarce draft class.
Bills- Needs: ROLB CB
Team that did well during Free Agency and hopefully continue to do so in the draft. Even though he is shopping around the trade block for an offensive lineman, he is in an ideal position already. What he should focus on is rebuilding that defense further. In Free Agency he did a swell job to fix needs right away but the biggest issue is, all he was able to do was stick a bandaid on his crippled defensive back situation. He has a chance to grab a great defensive back that is young and can stay with the team for a long time right here.
Ravens- Needs : WR LG RE
Another team that did well in Free Agency this off-season giving him the ability to select from a range of positions if need be. What seems to be a glaring hole at left guard might not be with the young Wilkinson at right guard able to switch sides. The two biggest holes I saw was a lack of depth at wide receiver and the age of his defensive ends. With the latter Ravens should be find drafting in the later rounds. Although, does not hurt to draft the best defensive end in the draft right away. With only three wide receivers the Ravens certainly need to find depth and why not now at the third pick of the draft? Grab the best on the board and take pressure off Brown.
Bears- Needs : RT LOLB DB
Mack, Long, Burton, Clinton, Gabriel, and Trevathein, all out of Chicago. Bears are rebuilding and preparing for the future. He has the picks to do it this season and the next though. Biggest holes he has is the right tackle and strong safety position. Thankfully he has two draft picks so he can take a risk and draft one position, saving the other position forteen picks later. He can either go for a position that lacks depth in the draft or go for the one that has abundance and get the top player in that position.
Bengals- Needs: QB OL
O’ Tyree Jackson. How many have tried to make you look great and how many have failed. Seen it countless times. Great legs and a strong arm can only get you so far if you cannot get the ball consistently on target. Also breaking the rules against seven year contracts will see a shift in his contract soon. Sure he might be the chosen one to make Jackson become what so many desire him to be. But nothing wrong with investing in his back-up or replacement if he does not pan out the way Bengals hope. This also has to be one of the worst offensive lines out there. Maybe Dolphins only being worse. A fix at left guard especially would help buff out that glaring dent in the team’s offense.
Saints- Needs OLB QB
Saints did the best you can do with a small budget to repair the retirements and holes left after the 2019 off-season. Brees will be the biggest player missed. Saints was smart and invested in Tannehill, but how far will that take him? The quarterback position in this draft is thin. If given the opportunity he should grab the quarterback he wants if he is there. I also mention outside linebacker. Saints do own decent talent on the outside but they are old. Grabbing young talent to bolster the existing position would not be a poor idea either.
Lions- WR LG
Only two wide receivers on the roster. Might as well grab a strong one now and begin to fill that position quickly. Also in need of a guard. Suspect that position to go quickly although might be able to gamble and grab one in the second round.
Giants- LB
Did very well filling in patching a team together this off-season. There is no glaring issues. Giants might as well start Jones with the contract he possesses. Offensive line is ready for 2020. One position he can possibly upgrade at is any of the linebacker positions. Get your superstar now when you have a chance.
Steelers- RT FS
I did not put outside linebacker here because he is able to shift some of the players from the middle linebacker position to outside for a quick fix if fails to find one in the later rounds. Same could be said with right tackle, moving his back-up left tackle over can fix it. He does have a chance to get his next Polamalu since it seems unlikely for safeties to be flying off the board just yet.
Jets: OL
The Jets have a lot of holes on the offensive line. Need to fix them quickly.
Titans- DB C
Titans have a lot of issues with aging players but nothing that will drag him down this season. Work to fix those in later rounds. Right now focus on the center position if not willing to move Nate Davis over. Also could use another young cornerback with Ryan and Butler already over the hill in their development arcs.
Falcons- DE OL LB
An offensive linemen at any position could help a lot. But the Falcons do have a lot of strengthening of his defense front seven. Can easily grab a winner at defensive end here with other teams needing help elsewhere.
Rams: OL DT
Another team that needs help at offensive line. Thankfully, they are young and could develop nicely if used properly. With much of the previous draft picks focusing on the offensive line and other positions, Rams can find a steal with this pick by going for a defensive tackle. Get an instant starter.
Dolphins: OL TE
Obviously needs to improve that offensive line. If Dolphins can find a strong candidate to improve that front they should take it. If not, the Dolphins only have a single tight end on the roster. Grabbing the best tight end in the draft is easily a possibility.
Packers: RT WR
Packer’s only have three wide receivers on the roster with huge skill gaps between all three. Drafting one now could help strengthen that position. But with Buluga gone in free agency there is a pressing need to find a right tackle quickly.
Chargers: OL
You can start to see the trend. Many teams need offensive line. They are lucky this draft class is full of good linemen.
Jaguars: QB DE OLB
Could see if there was someone still available to draft that could replace Nick Foles. But that could be a long shot at this pick. Still has a slot open at left end so could easily find a new defensive end that will replace the lost talent.
Raiders: DB OL
The pattern continues with the need for offensive linemen. Incognito took a big regression hit this offseason so there are some major shoes needing filled. Raiders are also light at the defensive back position and drafting a strong talent could bolster the position greatly.
Seahawks: OL WR
Did well in Free Agency but probably could have gone out and spent a little bit of money to fix some positions. Running a risk at this point when it comes to drafting offensive linemen. If he cant obtain a strong starter on the offensive line he should look to finding a great complementary player to his starters at the wide receiver position.
Browns: Best Available
One of the few teams that did fantastic in Free Agency and set himself up greatly for the draft. Browns cannot really do no wrong in the first round and can draft the best available player.
Redskins: OLB
Really nothing wrong with the team and in a similar position like the Browns. But could focus on finding thirty-two year old Kerrigan’s replacement. Could also get some depth at the cornerback position too. Either would not hurt him long term.
Buccaneers: OL
Apart from the usual statement about fixing an offensive line, the Buccaneers could really go out if the player is available, to get that strong starter in the defensive back.
Chiefs MLB CB OL
Lots of holes on the Chiefs. Do not expect them to go far this season. Unfortunate rebuild season in a hard division. Will need to fix the offensive line and improve at the middle linebacker spot. Biggest on defense though is the lack of a good second cornerback.
Cowboys: WR OLB
Will need to improve at the outside linebacker spot. Apart from the lack of depth, an additional linebacker would go a long way for the team. Same could be said about finding another wide receiver to help take the load off of Cooper each game.
Patriots: OLB FS TE
Just some minor holes that can easily be fixed. Either a position change will fix most of the defense issues the team has. Finding the next Gronkowski could be the bigger search in the draft for the Patriots that could help them get over the edge this season.
Colts: Best Available
Apart from cutting a few defensive tackles, the roster is solid and can afford to draft anyone they like.
49ers OLB DB
Still a very strong roster. Could though find a new outside linebacker to complement the rest of the front seven. Also his three top cornerbacks are either twenty-nine years old or already over the age of thirty. Drafting a defensive back at this point to develop would go a long way to help in the future.
Close game in Atlanta. Offensively just a lot of bad calls in the passing game. Filled with some uncertainty early on and saw some very odd interceptions as well. Defensively we had some big injuries that kept us on our back foot for a while with Evans and Jackson getting hurt early on for the game. Thankfully, even though playing against cheese the defense came through. Three pick six, two of which came from Byard who had three interceptions that game. The defense bend but never broke. Had to limit our playbook as well on that side of the ball. Opponent kept doing man killer routes so had to just stay catious in our play calling as much as possible. We gave up a big play early in the first half because of this so we could not afford to do it again. Not in such a close competition. The strategy worked out thankfully. On top of that the four players that went down that game did not sustain any major injuries. Defense came through with the victory and we held onto a win going into Buffalo next week.
Great victory today over the Jaguars. Came into that game confident and with a positive outlook after practicing. Once we saw the Jaguars aggressive defensive pattern we jumped right on that and took advantage of their attempts to simply use overwhelming pass rushing with beating the press coverage on the outside, which we probably could have resulted in a few more big plays there just a couple of overthrows prevented that. Henry seemed to be back on track as well, although he was hurt twice in that game, there was no sitting him down. Doctors checked it out and looks like he will be great for the Falcons next week so that is a positive as well. Mason is probably the star on defense today. Was doing quite well in the coverage along with creating pressure on the quarterback. Not to mention two fumble recoveries, one securing the win. Burns, the new addition to our defensive backs also performed great today with three deflections, one of which was close to an interception. Overall the team did great and we held onto the win. On to next week.
Today's loss was tough. It shows the rust we have to take off. Especially on offense. Nothing really seemed to click as well as we would like beyond the first quarter. We just looked completely out of the game. Mariota throwing five interceptions announcing every throw he was going to make with his eyes. Then Henry just not being able to move the ball as well as he has usually done last season. Defensively I could not be any more proud. Not a single touch down allowed and multiple interceptions and multiple sacks. Not allowing much in the run game either keeping them well away from reaching double digit numbers. After the game coaching did talk and we see what we need to improve upon. It is unfortunate that we lost a division game in such a way, especially seeing how easily it could have been won if the turnovers were down. It is still week one though. Still a lot of the season left to play and we just have to look at the Jaguars next week and get a win there. One game at a time.
In free agency we felt we needed to be aggressive. With Orakpo and Morgan going out the door we needed to find more depth quickly at defensive end. We were able to trade for very low to get former Bear’s pass rusher Leonard Floyd. We loved his speed and his ability to quickly get off the block. We also grabbed another defensive end in Aaron Lynch. Aaron Lynch unlike Floyd has more power in his technique. A hammer and a sickle combination. We realized last season that we could use an alternating halfback to Henry. One who has the speed and hands to be effective on the outside. We signed T. J. Logan to fill that role of third down back. Coming into the draft we were not feeling as comfortable as we wanted to be to grab a free safety which at the time was a need. So we were able to contact the Niners and after going back and forth we came to agreement where we would give up the thirty-third pick of the draft for Jaquiski Tartt. Coming to the draft we felt that we were comfortable with the roster we had. We were then looking for depth and a few possible upgrades if certain players fell to us. We were able to get Kadaryl Douglas who we love his speed and strength. He will be starting Sunday. With the addition of Jamarian Sawyer we were able to move Spain to center this year. We released Kern after obtaining Branson in the sixth round. Overall we have gotten faster and stronger on both sides of the ball. We do not kid ourselves though. Knowing our opponents have done the same we have a tough start that we hopefully will overcome.
The Dakingpin4eva coaching tree is growing once more. Starting underneath him originally was Coach Saxhaug, now current coach of the Tennessee Titans. Working as his defensive coordinator and developing from Dakingpin4eva aggressive offensive style. Now there is another branch growing down in Tampa Bay. Coach Monica Dooliniski. Dooliniski has come from Coach Saxhaug’s staff back when he was working underneath Dakingpin4eva. Coach Dooliniski has taken the same playbook from Saxhaug hoping to continue developing the aggressive defense and hard hitting offense he has learned.
Let us just start off with how bizzare of an ending to the season that was. Nothing for either team really seemed to go smoothly. I am just happy we came through with the win, breaking even at the end of the season. Defense did their job and held up a strong game today. It was good to see Casey back out there on the field to finish up the season and to see no major injuries for us. Overall, this season had a lot of ups and downs. Need to develop more consistency on both sides of the ball. Too often we would have the team show up one game and disappear the next. We have to work on that certainly. I know that the front office and myself are already preparing for the off season making the correct cuts and looking towards our future roster. We will be building a team that hopefully will be prepared to be in the playoffs next season or most definitely the year after that.
It was a rough season. Games that slipped through our fingers a plenty. Key injuries that we seemed to never have over come. Opponents we just never seemed to be in the game against. Our performance was mediocre just like tonight. Offensive line just did not want to block and was under pressure the majority of the game. A few key drop balls. A non-existent run game. Really not much to say except a team that was well prepared won. We got the Colts up next week. We got aggressive the last time we met and cost us the game. We plan on hitting them hard again and hopefully this time come out with a win. Become the upset team. We are also looking towards the draft and offseason as well. Looking to the future and hopefully strengthen key positions.
It was a rough start for the Titans return after the bye week but thankfully they pulled through in the second half maintaining their strong defensive presence and keeping to what the offense does best. Henry along with Scarborough continued to have a strong prensence against the Cowboys helping the offense keep the Cowboys honest and creating opportunities in the play action. Although Sean Lee created issues early on for Mariota, at the end of the first half our QB looked as if he was begining to get a rhythm going and continued into the second half repaying those two interceptions Lee obtained with touchdowns to both Corey Davis and the returning from injury tight end Jannu Smith.
So on our bye week today we made a move on the last day of trades to get Derek Rivers, a defensive end from the Patriots who are under new management. What we gave up was one of our third round picks and a sixth. Leaving us now with just three third round picks in this upcoming draft. We were looking at the draft situation this year and so far we were not liking what our needs will be in the following season with both Orakpo and Morgan leaving the team. We wanted to make sure we got at least one young talent out there at the defensive end position that had a lot of the attributes that are hard to develop and could start for us right away. We of course looked at other players like Leonard Floyd of the Bears and Vic Beasley of the Falcons but understandably the ownership of those franchises were not in a position to move those said players. What we got in Derek Rivers is a fast defensive end with much of the skills we were looking for in a potential starter that could be develop quickly. We do plan on plugging him into the defense against the Cowboys as part of the rotation and hopefully see him contribute to our already top ten defense this season and progress well enough that for this upcoming season he can fill some big shoes nicely.
Last two games have been rough with the major injuries to star players practically handing the wins to our opponents. Against the Ravens our star defensive tackle Casey was taken out of the game because of a shoulder tear along with our veteran middle linebacker Woodyard who has been excelling till that point at covering the middle of the field. This let up the front pass rushing pressure our defense had giving Jackson time in the pocket and help create holes for him to scramble through. Then today against the Chargers, a game that looked very winnable with how Henry was looking on his first few runs was just snabbed away when he was injured on a run in the first quarter. Henry tried to play it but you can tell he was still hurting, unable to get up to full speed and take advantage of the available holes the offensive line provided. With him out the game, it handed the Chargers a free win. Disrespectful as they were chewing the clock so early in the fourth on another scoring drive I think personally but there is no rules against it. Just kept kicking us when we were down I guess his mentality was. Thankfully we are entering a bye and possibly the rough part of our schedule is behind us. Who knows with how our luck is going currently odds are things will just get worse from here on out.
So fantastic game by Henry today. Kid ran his heart out and it shows in the numbers. Without his performance today I do not see us winning today. Basically in the passing game the Bills played perfectly to our scheme. They kept passing windows close for just enough time. A positive was that Mariota did not throw an interception against such great coverage. Almost got a touchdown to Amaro but unfortunately his toes were just out of bounds. That probably would have secured the win. Defensively they did amazing in the coverage today especially how much Allen threw on us today. Run defense was subpar today but when going up against McCoy it is hard to contain that guy one hundred percent of the time. This game was a good start to get us back on track to winning but we have to do better, especially with the Chargers coming up in two weeks. Next week we have the Ravens which we are going in confident and will be watching the tape on what to expect from him.
Hello everyone. I probably should first go over the few trades we just gone through here in the last few hours. We traded away Taywan Taylor for a 3rd and 6th and traded away our 4th for Kevin White. On paper Taylor had a lot of upside. On the field however, including during practice he struggled just maintaining control of the ball after initial contact. With Kevin White we are granted getting an older player but one we can control the contract with. White is a larger player with a bit more speed along with more control of the ball after contact as well as a fantastic release. We will see how things go with him. He is definitely someone we plan on getting the ball to. We are now up to ten picks with four of those in the third round. We have definitely helped get this team in a position for a long term future right away. Now reviewing over the season offensively I felt we had a very strong run game with Henry having currently the league lead in rushing yards, but passing we were very pedestrian. Mariota has only thrown for six hundred something yards and with a sixty-three percent completion rating. Granted the game against the Jaguars influenced that significantly. We will definitely be working on that. Thankfully though with the run game we have not needed a dire improvement right away and we are sliding Mariota into the passing scheme steadily. With the addition of White and the hopeful return of Smith after the bye things should change. Defensively I could not be more pleased. They bent but did not break. So far this season no one has scored more than two touchdowns per game against us and the team has shown significant pressure on the quarterback giving opportunities to our defensive backs like Butler who now has three interceptions on the season, Logan and Jackson having two each. We also have thirteen sacks and three forced fumbles this season already so a good start with a team that was taken from a 3-4 defense to a tampa 2 system. We definitely will improve on coverage though. As of late a few blown coverage have cost us like in the game against the Eagles. Need to tighten up on that. With special teams we originally decided that Brown would be our kicker for the rest of the season. Kid has an amazing leg with a lot of potential but as of right now, especially after the Eagles games where he missed a field goal and an extra point which would have forced the Eagles on that fourth down at the end of the quarter to go for it rather than just tie the game up. We will keep him around of coarse and see what development we will get from him. Deciding at the end of the season if we will keep him or cut him. We brought in Santos to step in for him till then. Proven veteran with a great leg himself. If he proves he can handle the job we are certainly going to keep him. Till the end of the season though it is all speculation. Right now the team is focused on Buffalo. We seen the tapes of them and have a game plan set up which hopefully will be effective enough to keep them off balance. Should be an interesting match up and with how the division is looking we will definitely need a win to keep in playoff contention.
