After a disappointing exit from the playoffs the Eagles regrouped and began to focus on their return and how they could do things better. With strong leaders such as Fletcher Cox, Malcom Jenkins and Carson Wentz returning the team headed into the offseason ready to build on last years positives and learn from last years mistakes. There were some heart breaking departures such as the retirements of long time LT Jason “the bodyguard” Peters, shifty scat back Darren Sproles and the FA departure of Brandon Graham. With all exits come new chapters. The Eagles has a great offseason, adding key players in both FA and Draft. Long time pass rusher Brian Orakpo comes in to replace Graham as depth and 2nd year pass rusher Josh Sweat fills in as the starter. CB Raoul Douglas was traded to the Colts for 4th and 5th round draft picks that were used to add Power Back Tank Lockwood and Blocking FB Chip Tarpinian. With the 1st round pick the Eagles drafted new starting FS Zack Kennedy, he’s been given BDawks #20 jersey in hopes that he lives up to wolverine, he’s been called “the jacket” since pop warner, lots of high hopes riding on this pick. In the 2nd round the eagles solidified their OL with two players, RT Jaron Ross and LG Ray Machado. Both players come in as day 1 starters and should gel nicely with returning Stars, Lane Johnson, Jason Kelsey and Brandon Brooks. The rest of the draft was rounded out with some luxury picks, Shifty Slot receiver Gunnar Swift in the 4th, Jacknife TE Bradley Weathers 5th and pass rushing DE/DT Bryant Jordan 3rd who could actually push for reps with starter Tommy Jernagin. There is a lot to be excited about in the city of brotherly love this upcoming season as the Eagles look to continue their dominance over the NFC East and repeat as champs. Stay tuned for more
