Insiders at this week's Houston Texans practices said that Tom Savage received, "an unusually high amount of reps" in regards to his nromal practice schedlue. Brian Hoyer was not listed as injured and did not miss any practice time yet many say, "the first team snaps were about even for Brian [Hoyer] and Tom [Savage]."
When asked about the change in repetitions allotted to his quarterbacks coach Kupo responded, "Each week we come out and try to determine who is going to help this team win. Nobody is an exception to that, everybody has to come out and prove that they are our best bet at their respective position(s). Tom had a good week and we wanted to get some more looks at him with our usual starters, and I liked what we saw. Our OC liked what he saw. Tom meshed well out there and was able to do what we needed him to do. Brian had a good week as well, he has had a sub-par beginning to the season after letting a few sail on him and especially after his three [interceptions] last week. We just want to know what we have on the roster before we are put into a bad spot. Brandon [Weeden] filled in okay for Brian when he went down against Carolina, but the team wasn't on the field that day so it's hard to tell."
When asked who the starter is for Sunday's divisional matchup againt the Colts Coach Kupo did not hesitate, "Brian is our guy, but we have another day of practice, you'll know Sunday when the game starts."
