Titans drafted a big man with their 1st round pick Mr. Craig Burnett. Craig is a 4 year starter out of Oklahoma state university where he played Left tackle his whole career. He was a 5 star recruit out of high school from Norman, Oklahoma and shocked everybody when he chose the Cowboys. He has proven to be able to handle the hype and then some only allowing 10 sacks in his 4 years at OSU. Burnett has the size and strength to be a NFL Lt standing at 6'7" and 336lbs. He will get his chance this season as the Titans have moved Lewan inside to Lg which means Lt is all Mr. Burnett and he better be ready for NFL Defensive ends and linebackers
Its about to be week 4 in the Destiny Madden League and the Titans are happy with how this season is going sitting at 2-1. The team has taken a different approach this season then last season. They have focused on defense and making sure they have a run game no matter how many carries it takes. The defense has forced 14 sacks and 7 ints this season. Yes, they have gave up alot of yards but thats mainly because they have been going against some of the better offenses in the league. They are being led by young Rolb Harold Landry and rookie DT Adrick Myers who each have 3 sacks in 3 games. They will look to try and keep the yards down going foward but I think that will get better if the defense keeps up this pace.
On the Offensive side of the ball they are being led by the run game with King Henry and Donnel Pumphrey Jr. Henry has 232 yds and 2 tds on 58 carries which is the most in the NFL. The Titans have showed they are commited to running the ball since Henry is averaging 19 carries a game. Pumphrey has been a pleasnet surprise this season after coming in during the offseason he has added some much needed speed to this RB room. He has 177 yds and 2 tds on 23 carries. The Titans will look to keep this ground and pound thing going all season and try to get in the playoffs this season.
Titans skipped the 1st round this year to get sure fire talent on the Oline but they was ready to gamble on the dline and it looks like it payed off. In the 2nd round of this years draft the Titans drafted Adrick Myers out of Central Michigan. Myers was a 4 year starter who racked up the most sacks in the history of the university. He is 6'5" 308 pounds but moves like a WR. He has raw talent and will need some coaching and mentorship but what better place with Jurrell Casey and Gerald McCoy to learn from. He came into the draft projected at DE or DT and will be evaluated at both postions.
The other guy they drafted was Thaddeus Manning a DE out of USC. They took him in the 3rd and many draft experts thought he could go in the 1st but he tore his ACL in the 1st game of the season so many teams held off. Manning has everything you look for in a DE and should be a good asset as long as he can stay healthy. Thaddeus will look for playing time all across the Dline with his size at 286pds he can play DT if need be. With the same guys to learn from as above he will for sure be taught the rigtht way.
The Titans are very excited about these young guys and can not wait to see how they do in the preseason and regular season to help this team out in pursuit of a Super Bowl.
Titans were fairly quiet this offseason making minimal offseason moves but the ones they made should prove to be big improvements. Titans started out by trading for second year LT Isiah Wynn from the Patirots sending them a 1st round pick in exchange. Wynn looks to start at RG this year being a smaller tackle the Titans think he will play better in that postion. We also signed veteran dlineman Gerald McCoy who will bring his big body to help Jurrel Casey and Jeffery Simmons control the line of scrimmage. Coach Hill was most excited about bringing in RB Donnel Pumphrey Jr. he is a shifty guy who leads the NCAA in carrer rushing yards. Titans will use him in many different ways to try and tap into his potential. Titans did not make lots of moves this year as they have cap issues and are trying to make room but the moves they did make are ones that prove to be deadly and hopefully can propel them into the playoffs.
Early in the season Mariota was all over the trade block and the Titans were not wanting to resign him. The Titans had lost 5 games and only won 2 and Mariota was looking like he was on his way out of Tennessee. Things changed after week 8 when the Titans murdered the Bucs 45-17. Mariota threw for 323yds and 4tds while only missing on 4 passes. The Titans sit down with him that night and made a deal happen worth 124 million over 5 years. Marcus has been on a tear ever since inking that deal and putting himself among the elite qbs with 1,619 yds, 16tds and only 6 int over 6 games. He has lead the team back into playoff contention and even if they can't get into the playoffs the Titans have to be happy that MM8 has found his stride for the forseeable future. Hopefully with some Oline help he can get his 39 sacks down next year and compete for the MVP.
