The Kansas City Quitters is what the media is calling this season's Kansas City Chiefs. After hanging head coach for the 5th time in two years, the Chiefs are still trying to find an identity. The offense under rookie QB Jacob Eason has not been bad, but the defense can't stop opposing offenses despite having premiere pass rushers and speedy secondary. Owner Jimmy Morton feels the team is a couple of steps away from competing but knows the team still needs work and plans on using free agency and the draft to make the Chiefs more competitive. Jimmy Morton has decided to stick with coach John Fox and plans on getting the proper pieces for Foxes 3-4 defense. Owner Jimmy Morton has not quit and a new fire has been lit after a players meeting was called, and owner Jimmy Morton was asked to come and made to feel like a part od the players. He has a renewed spirit and is going to do all that is possible to get the Chiefs back on track.
The lions are sitting at 2-2 going into the bye and some people around the lg are suprised considering they have been playing close games even in losses. Jimmy Morton of the Lions addressed a few things with media.
On Calvin Johnson
First thing first Yes we are shopping Calvin Johnson but before you point fingers at the Lions Calvin asked for a chance to play somewhere else because if he stays here till the end of his contract he will never play anywhere else I told him his best chance is here but he brought up some good points I'm not going to discuss with the media. We are in a retooling phase here in Defroit and its all business
On rookie running back
hes a rookie it's that simple the kid has made some amazing progress and this last game had a decent outing give the kid some time before you try and scalp him we knew that out coaches would have to coach him up in the running game but what this kid can do coming out the backfield for a pass is amazing. He will finish strong I can promise you that
on whitehead:
we as an organization have decided we want to keep whitehead as a lion so are in ongoing negotiations but he is 200% professional and plays his ass off every snap.
On secondary
look Spriggs can play! Stats speak for themselves kid has 2 interceptions and zero passes allowed him and Slay are doing a fine job we do allow more yards than I like but a change is coming soon here in Detroit Rock City
The Detroit Lions have had some good times and recently some very bad times. In the GFL competition is very thick but an entrepreneur has stepped up and bought the struggling franchise late last season think he has what it takes to not only make the team more competitive but can help them reach the playoffs in an already talent ridden NFC north which is home to last years super bowl champion Vikings. There are a lot of doubters and rightfully so being that current owner Jimmy Morton came in last season and did not make much difference. When asked why there was no real difference and about the rumors the Lions were "tanking" for the top draft spot owner Jimmy Morton had this to say:
I didn't want to lose but this is my team now, to truly get someone to buy into your system you have to let them know without a doubt that thier system is not going to work so I let the coaching staff continue their own methods for the remainder of the season. I spoke with Jim and we are on the same page this next season we will be competitive or he will be finding another job. I do not and will not sugar coat anything.
On upcoming draft:
who am I gonna take with the number 1 pick? Good question if you figure it out you tell me. Truth is there are a lot of holes on this team that I feel I along with my staff can fill them the draft so I am in talks with teams to move back in the draft because I need more depth. Now I am going to take nothing less than what I deem worthy but who knows if Lions will be taking the number one pick or not won't know until Sunday morning when the clock starts ticking.
