Steelers Serve Ravens a Slice of Humble Pie

The Ravens were embarrassed on the road 28-21 after coach Stringer Bell went on a media tour proclaiming that his squad would not lose again. Lamar Jackson was disappointing once again but the normally quiet Jackson was overheard yelling at Bell as he walked thru the tunnel. "YOU TALKING ALL THIS CASH MONEY BUT YOU KEEP CALLING THESE WEAK ASS PLAYS MAN. These are grown ass men we playing. They trying to feed their families like us. Stop giving them bulletin board material." The Ravens came off of a huge win vs the Browns but got humbled. They face the Browns again after next week's bye. Coach Stringer Bell will be addressing the media's questions in the comment section over the next 24 hrs.

Ravens Turn the Corner

The Baltimore Ravens won 14-10 in Week 7 slugfest over the Cleavelend Browns.  The Ravens side addressed the Browns before the game and told him that there was nothing they could do to stop them before the game and backed it up.  The Ravens dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides.

The Browns defense came into the game with the #3 rushing attack (153 yards per game) and the #6 Rushing defense (63.6 Yards per game) but the were hit in the mouth every play.  The Ravens #5 Rush offense rushed for 130 yards and held the Browns to 68 rushing yards.   Often criticized runningback D'Andre Swift led the offense with 80 tough yards on 20 carries.  His go-ahead 2 yard TD run in the 4th quarter came off of a huge 3rd down interception by 2nd year CB Levert Hill.

Earl Thomas was benched for 2 and a half quarters for undisclosed reasons but his 3rd & 7 pass breakup by  came at the best time.  The Ravens took over possession with the 14-10 lead with 4:01 left in the quarter and never gave the ball back.  RB Swift carried the ball 8 times on the last drive for 18 yards but huge 3rd down conversions by newly signed Alshon Jeffrey, who caught the defense slipping for a 26 yard reception, and Antonio Brown, who made a contested catch over All Pro Greedy Williams, sealed the victory. Williams picked off Lamar Jackson twice in the cintest.

Lamar Jackson was very unimpressive on the field.  The Browns took him away in the run game.  Jackson scored on an 8 yard run when the Browns took their eyes off of him.  Despite the performance, Jackson expects contract negotiations to swing in his favor.  The Ravens, who are now 6-1, sit atop the division for the 1st time in Jackson's young career.  They take on the Steelers next week before the bye week.

Lamar Jackson: "I'm Just Trying to Feed My Family"

The Ravens reportedly offered Lamar Jackson a 7-year, $263 MIllion dollar contract this afternoon, which was subsequently turned down by the 3rd year former MVP.  The Ravens front office thought that they had a 80% chance of closing the deal.  Jackson initally requested $243 million over 7 years.  The deal fell thru when Jackson saw the guaranteed number that was offered; Jackson requested $124 million in guarantees but the Ravens only offered $50 million.  GM Avon Barksdale spoke on the situation.  "We love Lamar's talent but $124 million in guarantees is reserved for people who can beat Cleveland. It's really that simple." Jackson is currently 0-4 vs the Browns and will need to knock off the division leader if he wants a chance at a big pay day in Baltimore.  The two  teams face off this week at M&T Bank Stadium.

New QB in Cinci, Same Hot L's

The Bengals pulled up in week 5 hyped about Sam Darnold like he was supposed to be the savior but the results remained the same: 45-30 beatdown at home vs Baltimore. Darnold turned the threw 1 touchdown and 4 picks, two of which were returned for TDs by Humprey and MLB Young. The Ravens scored a Fumble return TD in the game as well. 20 junk points were scored by the Bengals in the 4th. Highly coveted CB Lavert Hill lead the team with 4 deflections, and an INT. The Ravens offense was unimpressive but they did enough to control the tempo of the game. The Ravens push their head to head record over the dismal Bengals to 4-2. Next up is the Midwest Raiders.......i mean Green Bay Packers who are quietly wasting away Mr. Discount Double Checks' career with dumb play calls and lackluster roster moves.

Seahawks in the Wrong but Issues Still Remain

The Seahawks were relieved of duty today but was the Donald Sterling-like ban the right move? The Seahawks had no moral compass but the bigger issue remains: Why do teams have to go to extremes to get XP? The office is flexing but needs to be adapting.

Does Orlando Goodell Have a Grip on the League

The D4L Front Office levied a 4 game suspension on the Seattle Seahawks this week and the entire has questions. Some say that the Seahawks should be banned from the league for manipulating the XFactor Trait/XP system. Others say the Seahawks did nothing wrong. Either way, the question remains..."What's happening to D4L?" A record number of suspensions have been handed out. Audible protests are happening about XP, old rules, non-competitive competition, etc. Many owners in the league are questioning the direction that the league is going in and the lack of fresh ideas. Stayed tuned for more developments.

Love and Jackson Look to Run Wild at Arrowhead

The Week 3 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs (1-1) and the Baltimore Ravens (2-0) at Arrowhead Stadium is expected to be slugfest between two top 8 offenses.  The Chiefs' offense, which surprisingly has the #4 rushing attack, is led by newly acquired second-year back Bryce Love.  The Stanford product is currently 2nd in the league with 447 rushing yards on an eye popping 11.5 yards per carry.

Gunslinger Patrick Mahomes, who has led the league in passing the last 2 seasons, isn't concerned about the production in the passing game, or lack thereof, just yet.  "I know we are 30th in passing right now but that's not important.  We want to give 'B-Love' every opportunity early on to set the tempo of the game. Tyreek and I will do our thing regardless."

On the other sideline, Lamar Jackson looks to stay focused on the game despite swirling rumors on his contract situation.  Jackson's camp is reportedly asking for $30+ million over 7 years with $120+ in guaranteed money.  Owner Marlo Stanfield isnt commiting one way or the other to contract negotiations thus far.  "THE GAME IS THE F#@king GAME, Lamar! Just focus on the game!"  Jackson should be able to put up big numbers vs the Chiefs 28th ranked passing offense.

The Ravens moved Jackson's favorite weapon, Hollywood Brown, in the offseason and it appears that they might be taking a more defensive mindset for the D4L6 Third Season.   The Hollywood deal sent the receiver to the city that bares his namesake and returned multiple NFL Defensive POY Aaron Donald.  Fletcher Cox was also added in the offseason and the defense which is 4th in yards allowed per game, will look to disrupt the Chiefs' one dimensional offensive attack.

Final Prediction:  Ravens  31 Chiefs 27

Seahawks Clipped by Dallas

The Seahawks lost a chance at securing some playoff breathing room with a surprising 27-7 shellacking at the hands of the Cowboys. The game was marred by 11 total turnovers. Byron Jones had a pick 6 in the 1st. A scoop and score on a kickoff return in the 3rd quarter sealed the deal. When the Seahawks coached was questioned about his posse overlooking the Cowboys after a big win at the Rams, he responded "Not true at all. The better line won today, on both ends of the ball. If we can't sneak into the playoffs, we're pleased with our chance to participate in this years draft." The Seahawks fan base was in an uproar when they heard the postgame interview. Coach Ric attempted to ease all doubts when he went on his live radio show the next morning. "In a bittersweet way. Make no mistake We still play hard through all adversity.. We have some younger cats gettin burn in key positions, so if we can groom them and still make the ps we'll do just that." The Seahawks (6-7) take on the Lions (10-2) next week at Ford Field.

The New York Jets (6-7) took on the newcomer Jacksonville Jaguars (3-10) at Metlife Stadium early Thursday morning in the first of three consecutive AFC South matchups. The game was over in the 1st quarter.  Final score was 33-0.  The Jets defense picked off Dak Prescott's 1st 3 passes and jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the 1st.  Another pick late in the 2nd quarter led to the final score of the game.

Jets Fly High

The New York Football Jets (4-3) stormed into Lucas Oil Stadium and defeated the Colts (4-3) 28-14 in a dominating performance on both sides of the ball.  Led by emerging MVP candidate Matt Stafford, the Jets were able to core 21 unanswered points after the Colts went up 7-0 in the 1st quarter.

Stafford, who had a perfect 158.3 passer rating, completed 15 of 21 passes for 290 yards and 3 TDs with 0 Ints.  2nd year wideout Tyerll Buchanan, who has been the subject of trade rumors in the past month, followed up his 5 catch 168 yard 2 TD performance from a week ago with 6 catches for 113 yards and a TD.  Rookie wideout Sean Jarrett also scored a TD through the air for his 3rd straight game.   Newly acquired Travis Kelce got on the board as well with 2 catches for 68 yards, most of which came on a 52 yard TD reception.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Jets created havoc for Andrew Luck.  Luck finished with 219 yards passing on 15 of 24 attempts and a season high 4 interceptions.  2nd year Strong Safety Kevin Dubose led the assault with two interceptions.  One came in the 1st quarter on the 3 yard line after a promising drive by the Colts.  The Jets only recorded one sack but got ample amounts of pressure.  Rookie DT Jarrett Mace recorded his team leading 3rd sack.  TY Hilton was held to 2 catches for 14 yards but did find the end zone.  Philip Dorsett was the only bright spot for the Colts struggling offense as he was able to reel in 6 catches for 107 yards.

The Jets return to Metlife next week to face a struggling Chicago Bears team (1-5).

Jets End Packers 21 Game Streak

The Jets (3-3) win a shootout at home 40-38 vs the Packers (4-1) behind an amazing display from Matt Stafford, a clutch GW FG and clutch defensive play.  The Packers came into the game with a 21 game regular season win streak.

Stafford finished the game 16/24 with 402 yards and 4 TDs including 2 TDs to 2nd year WR Buchanan, who also finished with career highs in catches amd yards (5 for 186). 3rd round Rookie RB Cecil Smallwood rushed for his league leading 8 touchdown.

The Jets defense struggled containing the dynamic combo of Rodgers and Gronk but made enough key plays in the closing minutes of the 2nd and 4th quarters. The defense caused 3 turnovers and sacked Rodgers 4 times.

Green Bay went up with a go ahead TD with 1:03 left to play but Stafford drove the field with 2 timeouts remaining.  Ryan Quigley nailed a 47 yard FG as time expired, sending the overconfident Packers back to cold ass Wisconsin.
