Super Bowl II
Dolphins vs Panthers
We have finally reached that point Revivalites. The time of the season that all the quick vances, all the stat farming, all the cheese booking has led to, the Super Bowl. Here in Super Bowl II we have the Miami Dolphins, headed by Ernie Moneybags as HC, and the Carolina Panthers with Brian "The Conqueror" Lawrence at the helm.
Regardless of the talent of the field, do not mistake the importance of the two men calling the plays in this game. This matchup is a great showcase for two behemoths in Revival to show who has the best pre-snap adjustments and audibles. ;-)
This one will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes. Both players have shown their only weakness comes from comitting too many turnovers. For that reason alone, I predict the Panthers win. There is nothing else I can say one does better than the other.
Panthers Win Super Bowl II: 27-24
NFCCG: Panthers @ Seahawks
Tonight we get to see what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. The Panthers offense is nearly impossible to stop. Brandin Cooks and Tyreek Hill are a crazy combination and now that Kizer is up to speed, the Panthers offense could jump to even bigger heights.
But the Seahawks probably have the best defense to defeat this offensive cheddar. TJ Green is the fastest and most impactful safety in Revival right now. He will be the one to stop the deep threats of the Panthers. And the Kizer may not have long to throw. Leanord Floyd and Danielle Hunter are forces not to be wrekened with. They are two of the most elite pass rusher in this league.
Think this one comes down to overall team balance. I think Panthers offense and Hawks defense are null, but the Panthers defense is good enough to take advantage of the offense.
Panthers Win 28-26
AFCCG: Broncos @ Phins
This is my favorite game of the week. I love how the Dolphins have built their team. Their scheme is definitely just "this side" of cheesy, but the kid gets the job done. The Broncos on the other hand are a hot team. I picked them to win last week because I think they have one of the most complete teams in the entire league.
The Dolphins and Broncos share a passion for passing. They both have an affinity for it and are amongst the top air raid offenses in the league. John Ross is a cheat code. Crazy quick in space. Juke move usually results in several borken ankles. And that takes us to the Broncos defense.
The Broncos defense is crazy athletic and are very large. Their secondary is full of grown ass men. However, the lack experience and discipline. Against a team that is as experienced and poinent as the Dolphins, it could cost them the game. They need to make their youth and athleticism work to their advantage. If they can get turnovers generated early, they could be in for an upset. I believe in them to do so.
Broncos Win 41-38
Steelers @ Dolphins
I am happy to say that the Steelers proved me wrong last week. They steamrolled the Bengals last week and move on to face the #1 seed in the AFC: Fins.
Mixon and company pounded the rock well this season. He average nearly 5 yards per carry and got to ball in the end zone 15 times on the ground. But they will have their work cut out for them facing the 2nd best defense this past season from Miami. The Dolphins were 5th in stopping the run this past year.
Ultimately, itll come down to experience here I think. I hope the Steelers prove me wrong yet again and pull off the upset. But it is so hard to pick against a team as talented and as experienced in the playoffs as the Miami Dolphins.
Dolphins Win 42-34
Cardinals @ Hawks
This will be a very fun matchup to watch if you love defense. Hawks secondary is led by the always deadly TJ Green who is only getting faster with age. It would be hard to argue there's a more explosive DB in the league than green.
However, Cam Newton has so many weapons to throw to, it could cause some issues for the Hawks secondary. John Brown and Tyler Lockett are great in the open field. Martavis Bryant adds another wrinkle to this offense with his ball skills and ability to win 50/50 balls. Not many receivers possess the ability to contest jump balls against TJ Green and Bryant is one of them.
I think this game will most likely come down to who takes care of the ball the best. Both defenses have the ability to make you pay if you do not and I think they do.
Cardinals Win 21-17
Bills @ Broncos
If you like really good secondary play this game is loaded. For Denver, Shaq Griffin and Ahkello Witherspoon lead the way with Byron Jones and Montae Nicholson at safeties. The Bills however have a fast and hard hitting safety due in Obi Melifonwu and Landon Collins with Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara working underneath.
However their offenses are very different. The Broncos are built to succeed through their air attack, while the Bills are usually a running machine that can rarely be stopped. The Bills top the Broncos with experience in this matchup and could be a big factor in the outcome of the game.
But I'm going to go out on a limb with this pick because I really like the Broncos offense. I think that their prowess and style of play takes advantage of the Bills defense well.
Broncos Win 35-34
Giants @ Panthers
This will be the toughest matchup to call and makes for the GOTW in my opinion. Two of the best players in the league facing each otther here. The top cheese will be shown and ulitmately I think this one comes down to a coaching battle.
As talented as the Panthers offense is, the Giants are very talented on the other side of the ball. Rookies Chapman and Henry have had huge years for the Giants and could help give the New York team the advantage in this one. But the Panthers will not go down without a fiight. Their receivers are the strongest and fastest group in the league. With their insanely successful scheme, it is very hard to pick against them, even when facing the behemoth defensive mind in the Apple.
Panthers Win 42-39
Steelers @ Bengals
What a great way to start off the playoff weekend. You have two teams who are incredbily familiar with each other, being divisional rivals. They split* this season with the Away team taking the W home. In their week 6 matchup in Cincinatti, the Bengals defense was the main story. Not only did they slow the Steelers potent offense, but used them to their benefit with 4 INTs. Bengals win 45-21.
Fast-forward to Week 16 where the second matchup catches a sim on an early vance and the offensive prowess of the Steelers proved to be too much for the Bengals simulated defense.
Fast-forward once more to wild-card weekend and we arrive at our destination: their playoff prediction. Bengals Win 38-31. Ultimately, I think their defensive line is the perfect breaker of the Steelers offense. While Taylor Decker can put in work, he cannot hope to stop Aaron Donald, Fletcher Cox, and Johnathen Allen.
Cardinals @ Eagles
This matchup will be so much fun to watch and my personal favorite of the weekend. These two teams are the epitome of team building gone right. The Cardinals do not have any obvious or glaring weaknesses. While the Eagles offense is damn near perfect and have assembled a God Wall in Philidelphia. They also do a good job specilizing in certain areas to take advantage of their scheme.
Both teams are physical and tough on both sides of the ball. Both prioritze line play, but Eagles get the obvious edge. Cardinals safety Kam Chancellor may have a bigger role in this game as a result. If he can make his presense known in the running game, it kept help neutralize the Eagles main method of winning: run you to death.
Prediction: Cardinals Win 28-27. The Cardinals gain the victory coming off a key late game interception to set up the game winning drive.
Bills @ Texans
The Bills might have the most electric team in Revival. Their dynamic safety duo is constantly turning heads and making big plays for the team. The play consistent defense and continually run over every team they face.
This brings us to the Texans. They are the true wild card this weekend. Switching owners multiple times in a season can be very challenging. Might be too hard for the team to overcome considering the veteran presense that will be on the other side of the field. The Texands do have one of the top defenses in terms of physicality, so they certainly have a shot. I just do not buy it with their offensive line being literal shambles. Bills Win 34-21
Giants @ Bisons
Provalone. Guda. Blue. Swiss. American. This will most definitely be a 5 layered cheese fest. Giants do it through the air and the Bisons stampede through pretty much every defense at will.
I think both offenses will have their big plays. But what will really change the game is how the defenses stand up. While I really love the Bisons team and hate picking against them, rookies Chapman and Henry really stand out for the Giants. They're both special athletes. I see them making a couple key big plays to spur the Giants to victory like they have done so much this season.
Giants Win 42-38
