Jags Season Update

After hiring SloppySeaBass in Week 4 to be the new head coach, the Jacksonville Jaguars are 4-3, and first place in the AFC South. The Jacksonville Sun's Cody Fletcher got the chance to sit down with coach for an exclusive interview, and get some insight on just who exactly this guy is, as well as answer some of the fans' burning questions.

Cody: Coach, thanks for taking the time to chat with us. We know it's a busy time for you, so thanks for taking a moment to chat with us.

SeaBass: Cody, it's not a problem at all, I mean, this is the first time the media or fans have really got a chance to hear from me since being hired, so I'm happy to be here.

Cody: So after being away from football for a year, what made you decide to join the FFL, and why now.

SB: You know, that's a good question but it's simple, I was missing the game. I was part of another league from 2014-2018 and met a lot of cool people and got to do a lot of cool things but I was getting burned out on the constant grind of the seasons and just how the game of football was being played.

So, recently I seen an opening in the FFL, and after reading how the league was run, looking over the rules..... something told me it was time to get back in the game. The commissioner was nice enough to take a chance on me sohere we are (laughs).

Cody: Taking over the Jags, what are your plans for this team going forward.

SB: This team has a lot of great pieces to build around and if I'm being honest, I think this is a team that can win now. People forget, a couple of years ago, they had the best defense in the league, and were thinking Super Bowl. Obviously it didn't work out that way but there is no reason the drop-off should have been this severe. So I'm looking to get this team to the playoffs and see what happens.

Cody: Now there has been rumors of a QB change and possibly trading defensive star Calais Campbell. Any truth to that?

SB: At the QB position we have a great leader in Foles, and he has the skills and experience to get us wins. Now, with that said Foles is 30 years old, and he doesn't really fit the scheme I want to run and he knows that. So we're going to make it work.

I started Jackson last week to see how he does in game situations and I seen a lot of things I liked, and probably more that I didn't. Jackson has dynamic speed and has a cannon for an arm, but his accuracy and decision making still needs a lot of work. We were able to get the win, but I tip my hat to our defense. Now, I've discussed this with him and he understands and knows where we're at. He'll be a big part of this team's future, but right now, this is Foles' team going forward.

As far as Campbell, yes, we are looking to trade him to relieve cap space and pick up some future draft picks. He's been a force for us on the defensive line, but we have some guys ready to step up and fill those shoes.

Cody: Coach, thanks again for talking with us. Do it again soon?

SB: Of course Cody, we'll make it happen.
