Hard work, determination, dedication. These are just a few words that represent the man who was formerly known as Ray Evans a.k.a. "The white rhino". Entering the draft as a junior from Michigan state, Evans was ranked as a third round draft pick although his talen ranked him as the #7 overall player in the draft class. Bringing with him an impressive skill set of 4.5 speed, 27 bench press reps, and showing good elusiveness at the scouting combine Evans was a steal with the 13th pick of the 3rd round for the Packers.
Evans road to the NFL was not an easy one, as he was never truly given a chance to show his talent because nobody beleived a white running back could be successfull at an NFL level. As a child evans was the son of a crack whore. His father left him to be a bastard so his only positive male role model in his life was his older brother "Juicy" Jay Evans. Jay suffered a tragic knee injury his senior year of high school and was forced to work at Mcdonalds to help make ends meet so he turned his attention to helping Ray achieve his dream of becoming an NFL running back.
A walk on at Michigan state, Evans played 3 seasons totalling 2,137 all purpose yards and 16 touchdowns. While those stats may not warrant a selection in the draft Evans needed to support his family and knew the only way was to apply for the draft. Packer coach Nikkuh Azz Nikkuh had been keeping a close eye on Evans all along but even he did not expect the running back to have the impact on the team that was about to come.
Evans once again needed to work his way up the ranks as the Packers had a strong running back in Eddy Lacy, who had 1,600 plus yards the year prior but was prone to fumbling. Splitting carries in the preseason evans totaled 213 rushing yards and 2 tds. With Lacy gaining weight and carrying his fumbling problems into the preseason, Nikkuh had no choice but to give Evans a shot to prove himself. In week 2, for his first NFL start evans carried the ball 23 times for 106 yards a touchdown and a fumble. In what would turn out to be one of his worst outings of the season, Evans showed enough promise to hold the position throughout the season even having a stretch of 200 yards games. Evans earned the trust of the fans, his teamates, and his coach, leading his team along with the G.O.A.T. Aaron Rodgers to a 9-7 record. The team showed much promise heading into next season with a win last minute grind it out win over the Atlanta Falcons week 17 with a final score of 35-34. Trick Montalban made it clear Evans would not single handedly take over the game stacking the box and flowing to the ball well for 3 quarters of the game. Then the clutch gene kicked in for Evans breaking a 35 yard run for a td to potentially tie the game. On the sideline Evans pulled Nikkuh to the side and said "just give me the damn ball." Happy to see the will to win Evans obliged and called a power run which evans plowed his way into the end zone with ease signalling a new two headed monster ready to take the league by storm next season.
Hall of Famer to be Aaron Rodgers, along with all the young talented players such as Evans, defensive tackle Victor Austin, safety Joey Parker, and the middle linebackers Keilan moore and defensive rookie of the year and NFL leading tackle Ryan Parker look to all improve on the learning experience that was this season. Nikkuh Azz nikkuh has struggled to get his team back into the playoffs, this rejuvinated offense along with 2 first round draft picks this team looks primed to make some serious noise next season and regain its status as a perennial playoff lock and potentially bring its first super bowl for the head coaches 10 year career home to the frozen tundra.
