Cardiac Cards are Back....Well Sort of.

The 2022 Arizona Cardinals channeled their inner Cardiac Cardinals of old as they pulled off a very, very last second win! With the game all but lost after the Bucs took the lead on a field goal with 9 seconds left in the game. The Cards missing their All Pro WIde receiver Brown, who left the game due to injury. Had one Hail Mary left as Kyler Murray found young gun Rondale Moore on a go, go route. With the Bucs in a prevent defense Murray bounced in the pocket and let a rocket go Deep. The Bucs defensive backs all took a shot at knocking it down only to have to have their stubby fingers come up short. Leading to Moore's Gametime heroics. The stats for this game for both teams were ridiculous. Old man Brady threw4 for over 300 yards, Murray had a scorching 437 yards. Mostly from playing from behind, the game went back and forth for a bit. The 4th quarter was a game of who has the ball last and as luck would have it, Arizona got it last. The Cardinals need to keep the wins coming if there is to any chance of getting in the playoffs this season.

Cards drop to the Broncos

Arizona fell victim to the new owner jinx again, the Cards frustration isn't important, just shut up and play. Murray continues to make terrible reads in the redzone and let the Broncos hang around after that and keep the game close. Arizona was in the driver seat for the last spot in the NFC playoff picture but now find themselves on the outside looking out with 3 tough games on the horizon. Cardinals gave up almost 400 yards of offense to the Broncos. The Cards kept Wilson's rushing in check but again couldn't get off the field on 3rd downs. A game clinching INT was dropped by Thompson after he played the route perfectly but failed to complet the play. The new guy isn't the new guy anymore as Evans continues to shine after bumping up to a Star, as he rushed for 112 yards on 20carries and 1 score. Evans is doing all this with a young Oline and missing his starting Center. With defenses keying on the run game, one would think Murray would have a break out season but that is not what is going on. The lone shining light in the passing game is the Tight End Trey McBride who hauled in 6 catches for 107 yards and 1 touchdown, continues to play great football. Even though he got knicked up and had to leave this game on 2 seperate times due to injury but was able to return and finish out the game. The Arizona Defense dropped several interception chances in this one that would have changed the pace of the game. But it is what it is, we had our shots and didn't have the plays needed to win the game back to the drawing board and on too next week. With the race coming down to the last 3 weeks every game is important and those early losses that should have been wins are going to come back to bite the Cardinals in the butt if they don't get it together and go on a run to end the season. We shall see, to be continued.......

Cardinals 42 - Patriots 28

Arizona got a much needed win to keep their playoff hopes alive with a 42 - 28 win over the Pats. Arizona unleashed a tough ground game led by 2nd year man Darrynton Evans, who racked up 187 yards of his own with 4, count em 4 rushing touchdowns. The longest run was 76 yards but the glaring aspect of the night is the 86 yards after 1st contact. Since taking over the starting job from James Conner the kid from App State has grown by leaps and bounds. With Murray continuing to struggle the Cards have looked for other sparks to get the Offense on track to win games. Murray again threw multiple picks in this one and only mustered a 37.4 QBR. He was still able to work the ball around when he did make completions to 6 different receivers. Murray did miss some easy ones that could have helped put the game away early in the 3rd since Arizona was up 21 -3 at the break. The Cardinals were out scored 22 - 0 in the 3rd to watch the Patriots take the lead heading into the 4th quarter. Some terrivel reads lead to a couple pick 6's that would leave you shaking your head. The 4th quarter saw the Cardinals Defense step up and get some much needed turnovers as they forced Mac Jones into 5 interceptions and were able to lay the lumber on the Pats and force 3 turnovers after some big hits. There would have be highlights but the Cardinals video crew just found out that the PS5 signed out of the twitch account for some reason and heads will roll could be heard in the front office. What is Murray supposed to study if there is no film? Trey McBride led the way with only 3 catches for 63 yards. Rookie Christian Matthew got into the interception game with a 101 yard pick 6 that was a thing of perfection. The Cards are onward and upward as they keep hope alive and hope it doesn't run out in the last 3 games of the season which it seems are going to have to be must wins in order to make a run at a very tight playoff slot that has 6 or 7 teams looking to get the last spot in the playoffs.

Cards Trying Not to Make the Playoffs

With the West division separated by 2 games the Arizona Cardinals are making their best attempts to miss the playoffs. After a solid win versus the Niners the week before the Cardinals laid an egg on Offense vs the Chargers at home. Cards only mustered 13 pts in what turned into a defensive struggle. Murray continued to struggle throwing 3 picks in a very winnable game vs a .500 team. New commer at HB Evans is breaking out slowly but surely. By leading the team in rushing on 13 carries, James Conner has taken on the back up roll with grace and humility. The wide receiver group is strong but need help from Murray when they are open to let it rip on time. DeAndre Hopkins picked up another touchdown. On the bright side Murray was able to find seven different receivers to spread the ball around. The defense showed flashed of their early season success but by the 4th quarter were just out of gas, since the offense couldn't put anything together to help them out. Trayvon Mullen put his name in the MVP hat with another 3 interception game. To go with is league leading 14 picks on the season. The Cards secondary is going to have to get it done or it's going to be a long off-season in Arizona. Thompson and Murphy are both approaching double digits in interceptions as well. We shall see what the future holds.

Cards Top Niners in Division Game 26 - 21

The Arizona Cardinals finally showed up today with their 1st complete game in getting the Divisional win at home over the Niners. 26 - 21 Arizona moves to 7 - 4 and the Niners drop to 8 - 2 but still sit atop the division. Arizona fell behind early going down 21 - 7 at the half. A late pick by San Fran before the half turned into a 14pt swing as the Cards were driving to tie the game but Murray continues to struggle. The defense picked it up in the 2nd half and pitched a shut out by coming up with some much needed picks of their own. Tre Lance still ended up with 324 yards passing but the 2 interceptions proved costly. The big play came on a 4th and 1 with the clock running and the Niners driving for the win. Some tuff defense on 1st, 2nd and 3rd down set up the game ending play as the Cardinals stuffed the run and took over on downs. Three run plays later saw a punt with 14 seconds left in the game. The Niners couldn't make any magic happen and a 2nd Int by Jalen Thompson sealed the Win. CARDS on the outside looking in to the playoffs as at 7 - 4 they are now in last place in the division. The final 6 games are must have as another loss will more than likely have them on the sidelines wondering what could have been. Murray promised to do better but it's a wait and see.

Cardinals season Stats

Arizona started off hot but have since cooled off both on offense and defense. But the midway report as we head down the home stretch of the season looks like this. Kyler Murray has taken every snap under center this season which leads him to have thrown for 2,528 yards, completing 170 passes on 295 pass attempts. Leaving him just north of 50% passing at 57% on the season. His longest pass of 82 yards was a gem of a pass. The 25 sacks is a bit on the terrible side since he is supposed to be a mobile QB. Murray has rushed 26 times on the season for only 60 yards. The ground game was lead early on by James Conner who leads the team with 123 carries on the season for 659 yards and 10 touchdowns. Darrel Williams chipped in with 46 carries and 221 yards and 1 touchdown. Not being pleased with the ground game the Cards went out and signed Darrynton Evans to add some speed in the backfield, big things are expected out of this 2nd year man. The passing attack is being lead by Rookie Tight End Trey McBride who leads the team with 39 receptions for 691 yards and 6 touchdowns. New acquisition Hollywood Brown has only mustered 23 catches for 440 yards. After his suspension DeAndre Hopkins is slowly get his groove back with 27 receptions for 393 yards. Rondale Moore is trying to earn so field time to help improve his star development but things are moving slow in his direction. Zach Ertz is still plugging along in his 9th season topping 200 yards and 1 touchdown. Andy Isabella just reupped with the team so he is locked in and will be a work in progress also with the aging veterans moving out after this season. AJ Green has been a disappointment with his play, his limited production shows just how crowded the Wide Receiver group is right now. Bottom line is that the Offense is going to need to get it in gear. The team is trying to develop a young Offensive line so growing pains were expected this season.

Cardinals Slide Continues

Arizona continues it's slide to the bottom of the league with another loss having lost 4 out of the last 5. Not just losses but blowout games that aren't even close. The last coming vs division rival Rams 10 - 51 at home. The offense didn't show up again as they only managed 244 yards of offense and committed 9 turnovers. The game was over within the 1st 5 minutes of the game as the Cardinals had 3 turnovers before they knew what time it was. Kyler Murray finished 20 of 43 as they had to totally abandon the run game. Which contributed to the 8 interceptions and whopping 34 QBR. In what was his worst game to date Murray still managed to pass for 265 yards to go along with 5 sacks. The Cardinals defense made a subpar game by Matthew Stafford equal out to a 144 QBR, as he went 9-11 and a monster 100 yards through the air. 2nd year HB Cam Akers broke off 155 yards in the Cardinals hind parts and dropped 2 touchdowns on them also. Rams almost racked up 200 yards on the ground total. Cards defense couldn't come up with the necessary plays to get the team back into the game as the Rams picked up 1st down after 1st down. The Rams defense showed up though, especially Jalen Ramsey who came away with 4 interceptions of every pass thrown his way. Not to be left out Strong Safety Jordan Fuller grabbed 3 picks of his own. Aaron Donald got 2.5 sacks and right outside linebacker had 2 sacks. The Cardinals can't seem to get anything right as they limp along through the season. Passing game gone, defense gone, just can't get right.

Cards let Another Game get Away

Arizona defense couldn't get off the field on 3rd downs. Seattle repeatedly went to the non-playaction action on 3rd down to free up receivers and repeatedly moved the chains. DK had a field day as he racked up over 100 yards receiving. The Cardinals secondary that had been averaging 5 picks a game couldn't hold water in this one. Kyler Murray went 20-33, 356 yards 2td, 2int. New commer D. EVANS rushed for 42 yards and a score in relief of Conner who was a CDNP. Tight End T. McBride continued to put up big numbers as defensive schemes focus on the wide receiver group. McBride had 9 catches for 176 yards and 2 td. Hopkins continues to make his way back into form topping the 100 yard mark again. The coaches are looking for more out of Hollywood Brown who hasn't shown much glitz and glam since arriving in the desert this summer. Brown knows he is expected to take the load off of Hopkins, even with the suspension Brown was not the focus of the offense as the Cardinals leaned on the run game. A happy medium is needed for this team to be successful so that teams don't key on one of the other. The addition of Evans should help elevate the run game to aid Murray and the passing attack. The defense will look to pick up some pieces in the draft to help bolster the young outfit. Half way through the season and Arizona finds themselves 3 games over .500, it will be tough to make the playoffs if things dont pick up soon. Hopefully the players are not looking for the bye week. Next up is another division game vs the Rams and their strong defense, led by the defensive player of the year. Aaron Donald. Not looking forward to that match up.

Cards get off the snide 31 -24 over Vikings

Arizona takes the sim win over the Vikings 31 - 24. The Cardinals streak of interceptions is over and they will have to start a new one. Kyler Murray threw for l227 yards, 1td on 21-31 pass attempts. Which allowed him to finish with a 99.7 QBR for the game. James Conner continues to get his money by rushing for 119 yards on 19 carries getting 2 touchdowns along the way. Murray also chipped in a td on the ground. DeAndre Hopkins hauled in 7 passes for 67 yards, Darrel Williams played big in the passing game with 5 catches for 50 yards and a score. Rookie Tight End McBride continues to shine with 4 catches. The defense was led by do it all MLB Isaiah Simmons and his 11 solo tackles. Although he didn't get a pick this game, league leader CB Mullen had 6 tackles to show his game is well rounded. JJ Watt had a great game tallying 2 sacks to show that he still has it. Michael Dogbe who was a project at best came up with 5 total tackles 1 of which was a sack. Matt Prater had a sub par game as he was on 50% on fg this game, he did knock one in front 45 yards out. Andy Lee had a boring day as he only got to punt twice but ended up with a near 60 yard average. In what looks like an uneventful stat sheet, the Cardinals jumped out early and the. Held on in the end to get back into the win column. Arizona moves on to take on the Seattle Seahawks in what should be a much better game than last time. Cardinals need this 1 to keep pace with the San Francisco 49ers in the division.

Disconnect Jinx Strikes Again 56-52 Loss

The dreaded disconnect jinx struck for the 2nd game in a row on the Arizona Cardinals. The lights went out after a good 1st quarter for Arizona that saw a customary pick 6 by the defense, only to have it wiped away early in the 2nd quarter. In the restart the game was ridiculous from the beginning. One play scores here, one play scores there, both teams gave up unbelievable numbers of yards to the other. Both offenses were almost identical in the final numbers, Murry threw for 439 yards and Mariota threw for 416, 3 touchdowns a piece but the major difference was a 7 - 4 interceptions ratio that was not in Arizonas favor. James Conner ran for 148 yards and 3 touchdowns, Alvin Kamara rushed for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns. Saints were led in receiving by Michael Thomas who hauled in 4 catches for 113 yards. The Cardinals were led by rookie Tight End McBride who tallied 5 catches for 163 yards and a score. Hopkins who is still working his way into game shape caught 6 passes for 95 yards. The game was a back and forth battle as the teams traded touchdowns for most of the game. More of a top this then X's and O's sort of thing. For the fans and those watching at hoke it was an exciting and breathtaking gem to see. Big play after big play both on offense and defense. The Cards wouldn't back down from the Honey Badger and he made them pay with 4 interceptions of Murray on the day. Murray would go on to throw 3 more in this game. Who knew Murray's best passing game would also be his worst. 56 - 52 is nothing to sneeze at from an offensive perspective but from a defensive perspective, yall might want to actually practice so you can all be on the same page during the game! Cards No Show on Restart

After a back and forth 1st round the Arizona Cardinals left any and all fight in the locker room after a disconnect late in the 3rd. Restarts have never worked out for the coach as evidence by Kyler Murray's terrible showing. With three shoe on the other foot Murray threw 7 interceptions and finished with a 19.9 QBR. As the Cardinals let the game get out of hand early and often it turned into a game of futility as nothing went right on offense or defense. DK in the slot is unguardable, inside routes, outside routes, open, open, open. The momentum meter doesn't help. The Seattle meter once it gets up never goes down and almost makes the game unplayable for the opposite team. Which is the point I suppose, between the screen shaking and the inability to see routes its impossible to get anything going. Just hold on and hope for the best which isn't coming any time soon. James Conner had his worst game of the season only mustering 24 yards. As a t3am the Cards didn't gain 100 yards on The ground. The defense finally broke as nothing went their way. Couldn't stop the run, couldn't stop the Pass and no turnovers of significance to turn the tide back in our favor. Isaiah Simmons got the lone pick to keep the season streak alive but it didn't matter at that point.

Week 5 vs Eagles

The Cardinals defense put on a show vs the Philadelphia Eagles as they came away with a 41 - 10 win. Kyler Murray went 18 of 23 for 236 yards 2td and 2int. Connor kept up his sure and steady pace with 13 carries for 83 yards and a score to go with. Rookie Tight End T. McBride led all receivers with 4 for 67 and a touch. Week 5 saw the return of DeAndre Hopkins, who picked up his first touchdown of the season in this one. The broken record story continues to be the Cards defense. While giving up a lot of yards they still find away to keep the opponents out ot the endzone. The Eagles game plan seemed to be focusing on testing the back half of the D, which they found out is a very strong part of the Arizona D. Cardinals DB's pick off Minshew 6 times, yes 6 times in this game. Minshew put it up 40 times in this one, only completing 23 of those pass attempts. Running back Sanders tough ground game only rushing for 41 yards. Former Heisman winning Wid receiver D. SMITH became Minshews favorite target hauling in 11 catches for 126 yards and a score. One game at a time is all we can hope for, one game at a time. With a division game on the horizon the Arizona Cardinals will need to focus and get back to business on Tuesday after a much earned day off after a win.

Return of the King

Arizona Cardinals star wideout DeAndre Hopkins made his triumphant return in week 5 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. D-Hop chipped in with 4 receptions for 54 yards and his 1st touchdown of the season. Hopkins returned from his League mandatory 4 game suspension for Performance Enhancing Drugs. With Hopkins out, Kyler Murray had to put the young guys to work in the 1st 4 games of the season. The offense leaned on the ground game but depended on the Defense to get the win. Hopkins wants to put the past behind him and get back to football. Hopkins stands on his previous account of not knowing everything that is in vitamins and that he never intentionally took a banned substance. Hopkins is excited about working with the young guys again since training camp ended. The Cardinals hope that Hopkins is full of hunger and ready to set the league on fire after being benched the 1st 4 games. Four catches is a step in the right direction but expect that total to increase as the season goes on.

Cards Defense leads the way.

Arizona gets road win with the defense leading the way. The Cardinals defense forced 8 turnovers for the 3rd game in a row. The Cards offense was balanced, Kyler Murray was 11-19 for 161, 2td 2int. In what started as a turnover for turnover between both teams saw the Cardinals settle down 1st and hold onto the ball after Murray last pick. Darrel Williams came out of nowhere to lead the team with 115 yards on 15 carries and 1 score. Arizona rode the hot hand but Connor pitched in with the passing game. Byron Murphy led the defense with 3 picks, 1 of which he returned for 6pts. The offense and defense continued to play the same song every week, bend but don't break, offense settles down after some bad play and the defense gives and gives until a stop is needed. Not sure how much longer this format is going to work out.

Cards Rams Round 1

In the first divisional game for the Cardinals it started out as a slugfest before the Arizona defense was able to impose their will in the 2nd half. The Rams jumped out to an early lead and were able to hold the Cardinals to a Fg early. The 1st quarter ended in a 14-14 tie, a defensive struggle in the 2nd quarter saw the Cards muster just 2 field goals to take a 6pt lead into the break. A mismanagement of the clock left points on the field since the Cardinals had no timeouts left to be able to attempt a FG. Rams got a quick 3 and out at the half and took the lead on their 1st possession of the half. They would add a FG a short time later which would conclude their scoring for the day. Arizona managed sound drives after forcing several turnovers to stop deep drives into Cardinal territory. Arizona forces 8 turnovers for the 2nd game in a row. While the offense isn't flashy in the least they get the job done and don't put the defense in to many bad spots once they get the ball back. Really good game by both sides of the ball. Great offense game by the Rams though, not looking forward to the next meeting.
