After taking over as Head Coach for the Green Bay Packers Week 8, Coach JMB has been surprisingly dodging the media after every game regardless of the outcome. For those who don't know Coach JMB isn't a rookie when it comes to coaching in the WFL.
Years ago JMB was the Head Coach for the Chicago Bears, after one NFC Champ appearance he followed up with a season where he wasn't always present at every game. When he was on the sidelines that Bears defense resembled the 85 Version and the offense could be mistaken for a poor man's 07 Patriots. And that's why his sudden retirement took the league by storm.
Fast forward to Week 8 of our 2019 WFL Season when Coach JMB unexpectedly came out of retirement to coach the Green Bay Packers of all teams!! As a Coach who prefers grooming his own QB it'll be interesting to see what the off-season has in store for GB. For now, Rodgers is serving a two game suspension and Jacoby Brissett came out and had a career game against the Redskins. Remains to be seen iif this gives Brissett an opportunity to show Coach JMB what he's got.
Brissett and company led a game winning drive in the 4th quarter and Brissett showed what he could do on the ground with over 30 yards rushing on key 3rd downs. The defense was gashed in the 1st half for 21 points and over 300 yards of offense. The 2nd half was a different story as they tightened up and gave up only 3 points. There are flashes of Coach JMB's Defense but we'll be intersted to see what kind of moves if any he makes in the off-season.
Coach JMB has agreed to give an interview with the Green Bay Gazette once Week 17 is over. He is committed to focusing on this season before shifting to discussing why he left the WFL and ultimately what brought him back.
The Bears have closed out the season with the best record in the NFC and under Coach JMB's time with Chicago. The Bears fans held their breath when in Week 11 Trubisky broke his collarbone. Fans tried to stay optimistic however the irony was that just a few weeks prior they had traded journeyman Mike Glennon and had no answer at back up QB.
Bironas at the time their backup QB, finished the game but there were plenty of questions moving forward. In came Chad Kelly who had spent an entire year out of the NFL and lit up the Bears coaching staff in a private workout and was signed immediately. The Bears ended that day 8-2 and could have very well been on the list of teams watching the games in Jan-Feb from home and nobody would have blamed them.
Instead, the Bears finished 5-1 with Kelly at the helm and although not on anybody's fantasy team he finished with a rating over 100, completed almost 70% of his throws and was never a reason the team was in jeopardy of losing a game. The medical team hopes the next two weeks allows Trubisky to come back however, this team doesn't seem worried about playing without their franchise QB.
"He's done very well especially for being a young guy coming into a team that is hungry for success in the post season" said veteran Leonard Floyd
"He takes control of the huddle and doesn't let the moment get too big for him, I'm sure he's nervous but all of us support him and want him to do well in absense of our QB" as stated by Kevin White WR.
We'll keep our eyes on the Bears as they have some bumps and bruises they're going to attempt to heal during the next couple weeks. They look forward to playing meaningful games in Jan and are ready for the next opponent.
Up Next: TBA
The Bears have officially locked up the NFC North with a win against the Detroit Lions in what was a defensive showing for the Bears. They came away with 2 INTs & 4 Sacks. Bears also forced a fumble on a kick return which gave this team a lot of possessions for Chad Kelly and co to put up points. Chad Kelly did what was asked completing 83% of his passes with 2 TDs and 0 Ints.
Trubisky went down 2 weeks ago and the team has made some small adjustments making sure Kelly gets the ball out of his hands quick and all 3 RBs are being given a chance to contribute. He won't put up crazy numbers but they'll limit the turnovers and give themselves a chance.
Chad Kelly after the game "We've really come together as a team and are focused on one goal at a time, the first was a playoff spot and next is a first round bye to get our team healthy."
The Bears face some teams not looking at a playoff spot in the Broncos and Chargers so they need to stay focused on not worry about a team's record.
Coach JMB put it perfectly "They have 53 guys on that squad still fighting for a job and putting tape out for the other 31 teams, everyone in the NFL wants to win and we won't take anyone lightly." The Bears are on the up right now and can't let any trap games find them as they're still in the thick with 3-4 other teams fighting for a bye week.
Up Next: Denver Broncos
The Bears have been on a roll this season at 7-2 and this game was no different. Cruising to a huge lead going into mid 3rd things were looking like the past few weeks. Close out the game and get on to the next challenge. However as always in the NFL there was a storyline waiting to happen.
And in the 3rd quarter the game and ultimately the season had slowed down on one play. Trubisky was hit and driven into the ground by a Chiefs defender. The Bears went to get the next playcall until the saw their Quarterback wasn't to be found. Instead, Trubisky was writhing in pain holding his shoulder.
Everyone could see this wasn't going to be just a few plays on the sideline, after going to the locker room he was ruled out for the remainder of the game. WFL NEWS is reporting Trubisky has a broken collarbone and will miss the remainder of the regular season. Chad Kelly came in and had a few decent throws and a couple scrambles for about 40 yards. The Bears leaned on their rushing attack in order to limit the amount of tape on Kelly moving into the remainder of the season.
Next on the schedule is the Detroit Lions as they are looking to make a late season push so this game can't be taken lightly. Look for the Bears to rely on their vaunted defense and rushing attack as they have all season. The Bears are going to have a harder road to capturing their first NFC North Title under Coach JMB but this team doesn't look for any excuses.
In a match between two potential playoff teams in Chicago and LA this was going to be a hard contested match all 4 quarters. The Rams came in at 6-1 leading the NFC West while Chicago was tied for 1st in their respective NFC North. The game was essentially decided by turnovers.
Los Angeles had come into the game in 3rd place in giveaways with only having 3 the entire season. The Chicago Bears forced 3 turnovers today with a couple others bouncing back toward LA. Bradford wasn't his usual self throwing for less than 60% of a completion rate and comitted 2 of those turnovers. Gurley who has been a workhorse for the Rams was held to a mere 9 yards as they got away from the run game early on.
Credit to LA for staying in the game almost all 60 min. The Rams scored once they had swapped QBs with Goff taking over and marched down the field. The Bears answered back with a shot down the field to Kevin White and blew bast the Rams secondary. The combination of Howard, Cohen, and Cunningham at RB provided enough to milk the remainder of the clock and move the Bears to 6-2.
This season is at the halfway mark and we've seen another leap with JMB's team leading the divison for the first time in WFL History. Still, there's a sense of discipline from this team that they have plenty more work to do. A divisional rematch of last week's blowout against Minnesota is looming as they look to begin their NFC North Crown Quest.
Trubisky on his production going down, "We have a very good run game here and if that means we let them do their thing then that's what we're going to do, it's a team game after all."
The Bears are halfway done with their season, lets see how they finish moving forward. #BearDown
The Bears suffer a loss to the divisional Packers and lack of consistency was the name of the game for them. After forcing turnovers the past few weeks the Bears were still able to force two more but the offense didn't show up the majority of the game.
Trubisky was sacked 4 times and each killed the momentum and possibility of a score. The Bears scored 14 in the 4th but it was too late as they produced only 3 points in the first half. The offense seemed scared to let Trubisky out of the bag as they kept things short until the 2nd half.
Jeremy Lane making his role as slot CB payoff as he did nab a pick 6 to give the Bears a fighting chance.
The Bears head into the bye week not worried because they know what they're capable of. Just underperforming with all that offensive talent can't keep up if they plan to make a playoff appearance this season.
Next up: The Minnesota Vikings
The Bears came away with a 30-10 win against the rival Packers and Coach JMB was very pleased with how his team performed.
Any major injuries from this game coach?
JMB: Cruz (Rookie OLB) will miss some time and we'll need our veterans to provide some depth to keep our defense consistent. We carry more than 4 LBs for a reason because we believe the men on our roster could start on any other team. We're glad to have guys like Mcphee, Trevathan, and some of the younger guys to contribute.
What did you think of the offense this week?
JMB: When you settle for FGs of course those are opportunities we leave on the field. Our QB played a very clean game other than a turnover. He was very careful with the football last season and so far we see the same results early on. Our RBs all got on the field at some point whether in the passing game or running the football. We want to keep everyone fresh and engaged.
And the defense?
JMB: Coming from a history as a D-Coordinator it's very exciting to see how we're performing early on in the season. The defense is playing lights out and taking the ball away from the opposing team. I think one huge change schematically was allowing Adrian Amos to roam the back end and use his top speed to close down on the deep ball. We've also got some great guys up front to generate some pressure and force some bad throws
On this being a contract year for Jordan Howard
JMB: There's no question he'll be a Bear for life. He and us want the same thing and we just need to finalize the details to keep him here.
Any other closing remarks Coach?
JMB: We've got a young talented group of guys. We've got a roster and coaches that I would put up against anyone in the league. We're looking to finally make the push to playing January football and all signs point to us making that happen. We look forward to the next 13 games to show what Chicago has in store.
The Chicago Bears didn't have the type of season in year 2 under Coach JMB they had hoped for. At 9-5 they lost their last two and the remaining spot in the playoff race. They watched at home as another NFC team took home the lombardi which they believe they can contend for.
The off-season wasn't too exciting during FA but they did bring in a solid vet in Jeremy Lane to proivde the help this secondary needed after not having many turnovers last season. Also brought into the mix was James Cruz OLB to replace the retired Jerell Freeman. He was thier first rounder and that's now back to back first rounders they've used on their LB corp. Glenn Bradshaw their 2nd round pick is being put at LG to start the season. And their 3rd rounder Mack Godfrey is already an upgrade to their secondary.
This off-season produced at least 4-5 starters/contributors and they look to take the stage Week 1 against the Redskins. We'll see how the offense rolls with their rookie on that OL and the rookies and new contributors on defense. Bears look to take the next step starting Friday Morning
The Bears in Season 2 under JMB took some huge steps forward but ultimately fell short of their goal of making the post season. It's been 7 years since we've seen Jay Cutler and the Bears in the playoffs. With a new signal caller in Trubisky the Chicago faithful have a lot to look forward to.
The came away with a winning season and after going 5-11 last year a winning season was a pleasant surprise. Coach JMB says "There were some outcomes this year we couldn't control but we had opportunities in the closing weeks and couldn't close out."
At 9-5 they had the inside track to the 6th seed, losing by 1pt to the Hawks and in OT to the Rams the Bears are happy to know they can hang with the competition the NFC has to offer. Trubisky took a huge step forward throwing for almost 4k yards and 29 TDs 12 INTs.
"We'll be hitting the film room right away to see where the opportunity was in our offense that's easily capable of putting up 30 points when we're clicking."
Looking at this roster a huge area of improvement is their secondary play which only accounted for 16 turnovers as a unit. "We can do much better as a unit creating opportunities for our offense" said by Defense Captain Leonard Floyd.
The Bears and the rest of the NFC who didn't make the playoffs will watch and build to compete in an exciting year 3 here at WFL. Expect them to be big players during the off-season.
I was going to see how this works. I'd like to create a bit of "facts" around our league such as great stats and things for some teams that I randomly pick. I won't necessarily have a template for this and I'll listen to any feedback if this is something that's interesting to do on a quarterly basis or two in the reg season (1 in the middle and 1 at the end of season) and then another about playoff teams before we kick them off.
AFC:
The Raiders are the last remaining undefeated team @ 12-0 they've all but locked up their division and with a Dolphins loss look to lock up home-field advantage.
A second part of this awesome Raiders team is they lead the AFC in POINTS FOR & POINTS ALLOWED.
ANDREW LUCK leads the AFC in Passing Yards and TDs leading the top AFC team in YPG. With his high statistics he's also 2nd in the AFC with 25 INTS.
4 AFC RBs have eclipsed the 1000 yard mark with two rookies 1 being Aaryn Scherff (Phins) & Lester Fitzgerald (Oak)
Speaking of Aaryn Scherff he's only EIGHT TDs away from breaking Ladainian Tomlinson's record of 28 Rushing TDs a record that's stood for over 10 YEARS.
Averaging 121 YARDS/GM T.Y. Hilton has 1453 years and 8 TDs
Travis Feeny (MLB/OAK) leads the AFC with 14 INTERCEPTIONS. Don't test that man's user.
PER Daddy Leagues the Dolphins have had the EASIEST schedule in ENTIRE WFL.
Per Daddy Leagues the Broncos have had the HARDEST schedule in AFC.
NFC
The Packers lead the NFC with a 10-2 record boasting a 5-1 record against their divison.
The NFC has about 11 teams still fighting for a playoff spot, the AFC has 9.
NFC East has two teams @ 7-4 and the Eagles leading @ 9-3
Vikings MLB Jake Ryan leads NFL in Tackles with 58.
9ers RB Joe Williams leads the NFL in Yards with 1523.
Seahawks and Rams on a course to both possibly being over 11 wins and one being a WC team. The Hawks have a harder schedule so will be battle tested before clinching a playoff berth.
Demonte Driver (MLB/STL) leads Rookies in INTERCEPTIONS with 6.
A humble Packers coach fails to mention AARON RODGERS is TIED for the highest Pass Completion in the NFC.
Bucs Rookie QB still getting his bumps and bruises as he leads the NFL with 30 INTERCEPTIONS.
Considering all RBs with over 100 carries Joe Williams (9ers) leads the NFL with an AMAZING 8.4 YPC.
3 Separate WRS are Tied for SECOND in the NFC with 10 TDs, Alshon Jeffery leads with 11.
Alright guys again if your team wasn't mentioned I do apologize as I wanted to go for stats that would really be interesting to read for the average owner. One thing I failed to mention was the Browns having the NFL Sack Leader and that's a huge accomplishment!
Please DM me any feedback, if you guys don't like it or don't feel motivated to read them then consider this a trial run and I'll continue to do my own content. I really love getting this activity and I know it's hard to sit down and create something for a madden league but I know players who read them do enjoy the perspectives of other members. Thanks for any of you who read this piece.
Looking forward to the season we wanted to give a look back at our off-season and a look ahead to this upcoming season.
The Bears finished at 7-9 and look to build and catch up to the Vikings and Packers who both had great seasons. We started off first with Free Agency where we went for depth and grabbed T.J. Carrie who at 28 y.o. has already been asked to be in the starting lineup as the Bears secondary has question marks all around.
During the draft we were able to get two huge WRs listed at 6'2 & 6'6. Leighton Garrett our 6'2 WR is going to play alongside Meredith to have two outside weapons who can also take the top off of a defense or beat a 1 v 1 scenario. Bears defense was bolstered by drafting Seth Gruttadauria OLB which rumor has it has allowed Danny Trevathan or Jerrell Freeman to be OTB for the Bears.
Our final steal of the off-season was rookie CB TY LANE at 5'11 he'll be in the slot but he's a very raw prospect who went undrafted.
The Bears are looking forward to this season and Coach JMB says execution is still the focal point of his team and they'll look to start that journey week 1 against the Packers.

Untouchables: Howard, Trubisky, Meredith, Wright, and Floyd.
FINALLY we are able to catch up with Coach JMB of the Chicago Bears. We haven't been able to reach him for a comment since he took over the team earlier in the year. We've had a chance to get a good look into the mind of this first year HC.
"First and foremost I want to thank the Chicago Bears for giving me the chance to help this beloved city and team. I know there hasn't been a lot to be proud of as a Bears fan and I'd like to help out starting the moment we fought hard against the Vikings in my very first game".
The game he is referring to is Week 5 when the Bears lost 29-23 in a nail biter. The Vikes have gone on to be 8-0 and JMB and his Bears haven't loss since.
"We completely understand the task at hand and this bye week really allowed me to talk to the players and get to understand them beyond the field. We have a tough divisional game against a Packers team who are ranked 5TH in the league in Run Defense."
"We don't worry about records when divisional games come around and I expect our full attention toward this next opponent."
Coach JMB says he wants to stay in touch with the local media and continue to have a very transparent look into his process as he helps shape this Bears team. When asked about a chance at making the playoffs he responded with :
"We have a rookie QB and a pretty good defense, history has shown us that this can get the job done."
We'll be very interested to see how JMB and the Bears show up next week.
