Mid-Season Reload
The Broncos started off the season 3-0 and in the next 4 games the script would flip and the team now sits at 4-3. After the teams 3-0 start, GM Graham and Miller exchanged words leading to the defensive captain to consider mid season retirement, the defensive coordinator salvaged the relationship but Miller has looked like he is playing at half speed since. The teams pass rush as been non existent and the 1-3 slide started.
Stuck in a weird position where the team is still in the hunt for the 7th seed amidst this slide the team decided to go all in this year! The teams secondary has made plays all season but is being left to cover dudes for 10-15 seconds while QBs have all the time in the world to carve them up. The Broncos pass rush needed a boost of life and that’s exactly what they got. The team went out and traded their first half of their 2023 draft along with a 2024 first they paired their picks with CB Ronald Darby and DE Dre’mont Jones to bring in one of the youngest pass rushing superstars in the league. The Broncos would like to welcome Chase Young to the organization! “This kid is special, the things he can do at his age make him invaluable to this franchise moving forward. We can pair him with chubb on the defensive line and have a demonic duo for years to come.” Chase young should breath new life into this defensive line and with Chubb and Miller any opposing QB should be scared for their life. The move looks to set this team up for the future as well as trying to solidify their spot as a playoff contender.
This move are setting up the Broncos to try and turn around this slide immediately and with the bye week incoming gives their new guys a chance to dive into the playbook before stepping foot on the field. With a divisional matchup with the dangerous Raiders incoming the team will look to rain fire down on the elusive QB Ridder.
Week 2
Week 2 saw the Broncos head to Indy to face GM Fitt and his newly fabricated Colts. First off, hats off to Fitt and his incredible offseason, he came in with an idea and completely revamped a colts team that was uninspiring last season. With the combination of speed in the receiver room and at the HB position combined with the arm strength and accuracy of Rodgers this is a team that everyone should be scared off because they can put points up in a hurry!
After watching week 1 tape the goal of the game was to keep his speedsters in front of our defense at any cost. This game plan lead to the defense getting shredded by 2nd yr pro TE Kylen Granson who looked like a future HOF player. After last weeks condensed game plan for Rowe, the coaching staff opened the playbook up a little more this week. Rowe looked poised while making throws down the field but continued to struggle in the short game, 2 of his 3 interceptions came within 10 yards of the LOS and the coaching staff was visibly upset. “He simply can’t be making those kinds of mistakes on relatively easy throws. We’ve seen his accuracy down field but an inability to make routine short passes will be debilitating to this team.” Javonte Williams continued to show fans why the team was comfortable letting Melvin Gordon walk into FA. Williams handled the majority of the carries again this week as the team continues to search for a viable HB2. He took 25 carries for 172 yards and 4 catches for another 78 yards. His biggest run of the night came inside the teams own 5 yard line on a power run to the right side that opened a huge hole and saw Williams run for 86 yards only to get caught from behind. “We are definitely gunna have to work on this young mans wheels, he was getting chirped pretty hard in the locker room from the guys after he had nothing but grass in front of him and got tackled from behind inside the 10 yard line.” The game ball this week went to TE Noah Fant who found soft spots in the coverage all day and took advantage of it for 172 yards and 2 scores.
The defense carried its momentum forward from last week picking off Rodgers 4 times as Ojemudia and Surtain both secured another pick. “Defense has been our saving grace this year as Rowe looks slow to get his feet underneath him. Our guys are in the right place and the right time and making the most of their opportunities. They are continuing to play bend but don’t break football and prove all the doubters wrong.” Many questions swirled as veterns were benched in favour of the younger guys but the moves look to be paying off as stamina does not seem to be an issue this year, the guys are flying around the field all game and that is a recipe for success.
Next week the Chargers head to town which will really be a test for this defence with Williams, Allen, Hunt and Herbert. We will have to play some heads up football if we want to keep this winning streak alive.
Week 1
Everybody in the betting community and the NFL had this week 1 matchup pegged as a blowout victory for the Browns! Inside the Broncos locker room the coaches had a cork board with all the articles written over the past week on how the Browns were the superior team. Before and after practice the coaches and players would read these messages and use them as inspiration during the week.
All eyes were on Jeremy Rowe this week and rightfully so, he was the third overall pick in the draft and he was picked to lead this team in a new direction… a winning direction! While everyone inside Mile High stadium was waiting to see what Rowe could do, it seems as though the coaching staff felt I was better to simplify the game plan and play it conservative. In a tight game, field position and defense played a major role in determining the winner of this game. Rowe started off the game looking like a deer in headlights, the Browns defensive line took care of business early and they got their hands up and knocked down 5 of Rowes passes in the first 2 drives. At one point early in the game Rowe started 1/9 for 8 yards and the coaching staff decided to switch gears and get the newly appointed HB1 involved heavily. Williams handled 99% of the touches in the close game, totting the rock 23 times for 123 yards and 2 tds! He looked poised behind the line, waiting for holes to open up before scampering through them. “He is definitely a patient runner, we would love for him to find another gear when running through those holes but that’s something we will work on throughout the year.” The back up HBs combined for 3 carries and Jeudy accounted for 1 on a WR sweep. The Broncos have been actively searching for a HB2 to lighten the load on Williams but have been unable to find any that match the speed their looking for and their budget.
During the offseason in the annual team rankings show, hosted by SPA football specialists Moe and Fitt, this defense was ridiculed and they came out to shut those theories down. The defence played a lot of bend but don’t break football today, they gave up 328 yards to Baker Mayfield and 140 yards rushing. However, they managed 3 interceptions with two coming in the redzone in the 4th quarter and then a forced fumble that sealed the game. “We knew Baker and Chubb would come out and do their thing, you really cant stop them its more about slowing them down and taking advantage of every miscue. They are a fantastic football team but on Sunday anything can happen” Rookie LB McAllister was forced into action as the teams Sub LB in nickle packages and he played lights out. “The dude was flying around the field, we just have to get him some work with the jug machine ha ha” McAllister finished with 4 solo tackles, 1 sack and 4 pass deflections. “He should definitely have had a couple interceptions today but what can you say, the dudes a MLB not a WR.” Starting corners Ojemudia and Surtain both came away with an interception today along with 2nd year safety Stern. But the game ball went to Von Miller, who forced a baker Mayfield fumble as the Browns were working on their last drive of the game. The fumble was recovered by the Broncos and the team was able to kneel away the game and steal a week 1 Victory.
Next week the team travels to Indy to take on the Colts, lets hope they can carry this momentum into next week and come away with another W
Preseason standouts
Everyone knows the stars in Denver but who are the guys we should keep our eyes on that many don’t know about!
The WR room is crowded in Denver with Sutton, Jeudy and Hamler occupying the top 3 spots. During the preseason games and the practices leading up to week 1 the WR coach kept praising Tyrie Cleveland. Cleveland is a 6’2 2nd year pro who runs a 4.45 40. He’s a big bodied receiver that can fly down the field and he was putting in work against the teams starting CBs in scrimmage this week! While it may take an injury for him to see some significant playing time he’s definitely a player to keep your eye on this year. Levi Ford is another receiver that has done all the right things this offseason. Ford was signed as a UDFA right after the draft, the team loved his football IQ and believes he could be a star in the making. We’d love to handcuff him to hamler and have him learn from the 2nd year pro, they have very similar traits and he could rise fast in the WR room if he soaks in everything hamler has to offer.
With the teams last pick in the draft they selected TE Jake McCall purely because they needed depth at the position. They had no intention of McCall even sniffing the field unless it was to block but the rookie came into camp and told coaches, “ F*** that noise, I’m here to catch balls and make plays!” and that’s exactly what he did turning the teams week 1 practice scrimmage. With Noah Fant securely seated in the TE1 spot McCall will certainly have to bite and claw his way to targets but he is showing he is willing to do that. “He’s got the size at 6’5 and he certainly isn’t slow, but he doesn’t have that break away speed so he will have to show us that he can use his size to his advantage if he wants to gain our trust”
During Free Agency the team went out and signed Sheldon Richardson and Johnathon Hankins to some pretty expensive 1 year deals in an attempt to solidify that defensive line after the entire DT corp left in the offseason. With two aging vets on 1 year deals the team selected Dakota Mckenzie in the third round with the intention of bringing him along slowly and hoping he could be a DT2 next season. The coaches couldn’t be happier with him after the preseason and Mckenzie is now the teams starting DT. “We love what we’ve seen from him! Hes got the power to go through people as well as the finesse to fight around them if needed. We cant wait to see what he can do this season.”
New faces in Denver
While the draft has come and gone and the new AI drafting system implemented by the Broncos seemed to draft quite well for team needs but really failed to find any special talent in the draft.
The team selected Jeremy Rowe with the third overall pick. The organization was torn during the days leading up to the draft. It seemed as though half of the organization wanted Rowe while the other half wanted Thompson. While neither seems to have that star power right out of the gate both choices proved to have starting caliber skills. Rowe posses a nice arm strength with above average accuracy. His speed isn't as fast as the scouts had reported but he does seem to have enough of it to scramble out of the pocket if needed.
The next pick for the broncos didn't occur until the middle of the third round where they selected DT Dakota McKenzie. The 22 year old comes in from with exceptional strength and great potential, he has the size and speed to make McKenzie a day 1 starter. MLB Kerry McAllister rounded out the third round. The LB has lightening speed with average coverage skills. The broncos are hoping they can work with McAllister and turn him into a full time starter next year.
I'm the last 3 rounds the team selected two TE, neither with starting ability but the team had much needed depth behind Fant. The team also selected RG Kevin Wall who has the ability to be a suitable back up and potential starter in the following years.
This was an interesting draft for the Broncos. They seem to got their QB of the future and secured much need depth! Will this be the year the team turns the corner and makes a much anticipated playoff push or are they still a piece or two away! Only time will tell!!
Expectations for the coming year
The Denver Broncos had a tumultuous season to say the least. There was a shift in ownership during the start of a losing season. Early on it looked as though the ownership change may lead to a late season playoff push but a determental collapse at the end of the season all but destroyed those hopes.
As has been written the Broncos moved up in the draft in hopes of bringing in a game changer. Many believe the move was made to secure their QB of the future, but what many don't see is the glaring contracts on the defensive side of the ball. The front 7 is the main cause for these contracts, the team is looking to the future with this draft and shaking up the defensive side of things might just be what this team needs.
The team is in the midst of a semi rebuild and while still trying to remain competitive. It's a weird position to be in, the coaches and staff feel like they have enough talent to win games but not enough to make a deep playoff push. Their offense is young and capable of hanging with the best of teams and will be able to keep the team in shoot outs but the aging defence might be this teams Achilles heel.
"I am looking to take this team to the playoffs this year and prove to the AFC west we aren't just a doormat for the division." As the draft approaches the phone keeps ringing as teams hope to gain some knowledge about what the broncos are doing at 3 or if they are willing to trade out of that spot! Whispers have been swirling around QBs all offseason but the NFL might be in for a shock when the card is turned in!
We will be back tonight after the draft to analyze how GM Graham does in his first NFL draft with the Denver Broncos

We will be back tonight after the draft to analyze how GM Graham does in his first NFL draft with the Denver Broncos
Offseason bonanza
The Broncos finished the season at 6-11 which meant they would have the 12th pick in the upcoming 2022 draft! It was a bizarre year that saw GM Beaudry step in at the half way mark and attempt to scratch and claw this team into a playoff berth! Unfortunately that did not happen and a few key players decide to voice their displeasure with the team by testing Free Agency.
Melvin Gordon, Teddy Bridgewater and Tim Patrick were the first to voice their displeasure, which meant the team just lost their QB1, HB1 and slot WR. A disastrous outcome for any team, a handful of depth players also decided it was best for their careers to abandon the "sinking ship".
Beaudry knew something had to be done if he wanted to save his job and salvage the team! So he turned to the draft, pin pointing players he thought had the option to turn this franchise around. Did he want the freak athlete in Brackens who could single handedly change the face of the DB room, or perhaps Creagh whose speed and Arm strength make a deadly combination that would have everyone forgetting Teddy B.
He knew none of these players would be available by pick 12 so he got on the phone and began throwing our offers! He managed to negotiate with the Saints and before they knew it they were now holding the #3 spot in the upcoming draft and should have their pick at whoever they desire.
Unexpected outcome
In a game that many analysts had projected the Broncos next loss, Teddy B once again rallied the troops and lead the Broncos to their second win in as many weeks! After getting benched in week 13 Bridgewater has come up with a new sense of purpose with an 80% completion rate and throwing for 345 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions against the Bengals you could see the team rallying behind him. Javonte Williams had a career day going for 145 yards and two TDS on 27 carries, all season highs for him. “We couldn’t have been prouder of him and our oline today! They really controlled the pace of the game. He was patient and waited for holes to open and it seemed like he was always making the first tackler miss.” With Gordon announcing his decision to test FA this week, Williams break out game could not have come at a better time!
The defence was able to shut down rookie sensation Jamar Chase, whose longest catch of 49 yards for a TD came in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter. Prior to that he was held for 3 catches for 31 yards and no TDs. “Our corners were flying out there man, they were blanketing receivers and had their hands all over the ball when it came their way. We gotta give our props to Tyler Boyd though, man that dude is a DAWG! He seemed to have our number today, going for 171 yards on 11 catches, but I guess on the bright side we only held him to 1 TD. Kyle Fuller, who has been strangely quiet this year, opened the game with a pick six on the Bengals first passing play of the game! “It definitely gave us a spark to start the game, we felt like we needed to come out and punch this team in the mouth so to speak! They have a ton of offensive fire power behind Burrow, Mixon, Chase and Boyd, the last thing we wanted them to do was get that offense rolling.” Von Miller and Bradley Chubb continued their dominate season, with Bradley notching two sacks and Von having numerous QB pressures, one leading to a interception.
“We have a lot of work to do still, but this is a great start! Maybe, just maybe the cards will fall our way and the chiefs find a mini losing streak here to end the season and we can sneak our way to the top of the division. But right now we are taking this one week at a time!” Next week the broncos take on the struggling Raiders, so a 3 game win streak does not seem unbelievable at the moment, but as we all know anything can happen on Sunday as we witness today.
Return of teddy
Teddy knew the Broncos had plans to bench him for Lock after the team told him they would not be resigning him this year. However he got the last laugh Sunday after Lock threw 4 ints in four drives to start the game and had the broncos in a 14-0 deficit early. Locke was promptly benched after his 4th pick and the starting job once again belonged to Teddy B who came in and led the Broncos to a comeback victory throwing for 400+ yards and 3 tds. Teddy had this to say about his performance after the game, “I think I just needed something to light a fire under my A** and the benching did just that! I’m treating the last half of the season like a live try-out, im going to showcase my skills and try to secure the bag!”
The Broncos run game was still a natural disaster! On 30 attempts, a mesleay 51 yards were accumulated. “Less than a 2.0 YPC average! Disgusting, we have to do better! Our guys were consistently getting hit behind the LOS the oline needs to start creating holes or we will be handing out some pink slips!” The team noticeably went away from Gordon this week as the veteran had two touches to Williams 30. Williams is a focal point of this offense and we’d love to make him a face of this franchise but we definitely need to start seeing some week to week improvements!
After a forgettable first half for the defence that saw the Lions score 30 points in the 2nd quarter, they rallied in the second half and shut out the lions. The team failed to force any turnovers in the second half then exploded for 4 turnovers which included two in the redzone! The broncos have heart but lack the veteran talent on the defence, Von Miller spoke to the guys at halftime and must have said something because they came out fired up!
Next week the team will look to build on the strong finish as they take on potential OROY Jamar Chase and the bengals!
A club in disarray
The broncos organization is in complete shambles, after the hiring of new GM Graham, the team has only won one game and has benched its starting QB Bridgewater for less than mediocre starter Drew Locke. “Teddy is told the team he plans to test free agency this year, so we decided it was best to give Locke a shot to prove he has what it takes to be a starting QB in the NFL.” The teams lack of talent along the oline paired with two underperforming hbs is less than ideal for anyone under center. If you take this seasons troubles and compounding it by looking at some of the names the team has refused to sign next year looks like a world of hurt of the Denver Broncos. Gordon, Fuller, Bridgewater, Jackson and Patrick are a handful of the guys who have already been informed the team will not be using their limit cap space to bring them back.
The team seems to have little direction right now, with a sub-par oline, its HB1 leaving in the offseason and a question mark at QB it seems the only bright spot on this offense is the receivers and TE although their receiving yards leader will be walking in FA. With only 28 million in cap space this offseason and a select number of picks the team will have to rely heavily on its scouts to produce in the later rounds of this years draft if they have any hope of succeeding next year.
If we take a glance at the defence, it seems like the team is making already making a transition to its younger players as the losing season continues. Caden Sterns has replaced Kareem Jackson at SS, while Ojemudia and Surtain have surpassed Fuller and Darby at CB. The team has a glaring need at LB as Johnson, the teams current starting MLB who was signed under the previous regime, has fallen out of a favor with Graham, who has turned to 22 yr old Browning to man the middle of the defence. “We love Von, but reality is that he is 32 years old and its only a matter of time before his motor runs out. We need to find is replacement sooner rather than later and hope he can mentor him into a year 2 starter for us” The teams glaring need for pass rushers in this 3-4 offense has become more and more noticeable as the season progresses, we are going to need someone to step up or hopefully try and find someone willing to propel this franchise forward in free agency.
This week the team will take on the Detriot Lions with hopes to right the woes of last week where they fell to the division leading Chiefs. “We are going to try and make Goff as uncomfortable as we can and hope our young secondary can get their hands on a few balls.” Locke looked good in his season debut, so it seems as though the new GM is almost capable of his new job but only time will tell.
Week 2
Another week in the books and another W for the cowboys.
In what many thought would be a offensive showdown between two all star WR, a savvy veteran QB and a rising star QB it was the defence that stole the show.
The cowboys defence ended the night with 5 forced turnovers, two of which were pick sixes. Leighton Vander Esch continues his dominance as he has 5 interceptions on the season.
Tony pollard got his first TD of the year on a 50 yard punt return; his ballet classes sure paid off as he put two defenders in ice with a beautiful Pirouette.
John Ross flashes potential in his first game in a cowboys uniform, take a screen 6 yards to the house and even contributing to the run game.
Next week the cowboys head to Seattle to take on DK and wilson. Should be a great show!
A New Era
In a strange turn of events, Jalen Ramsey has threatened to hold out of all team activities unless Owner Stan Kroenke hands Alex Graham the keys to the kingdom and relieves Les Snead of his position. After the haul giving up to get Ramsay into the building, Kroenke handed Snead his walking papers and introduced Graham as the Los Angeles Rams GM.
Graham had no issue leaving the Jags, stating “ the teams coaches and management have not seen eye to eye in quite some time. Every decision came with hours of arguing, spats and damn near fist fights. I wish Terps the best in his new endeavor as the teams GM and I look forward to joining this LA family and will do my best to ensure we take that next step.”
My biggest worry within this organization is our cap situation, I will be addressing these issues first thing Monday morning. There will be tears, there will be screaming but we will get this under control and we will ensure we have talent in this building for years to come. With Jalen Ramsey, Cooper Kupp and John Johnson III playing on the final year of their deals, its hard to imagine all of these up and coming stars playing in a Rams uniform next year. Reports having been swirling that Cooper is looking to reset the market on WR contracts and we all know Ramsey wants that brinks truck.
With the Seahawks addition of Metcalf and the Cardinals trading for Hopkins its seems highly probably the team hands Ramsey whatever he needs to stay in order to lock up these high powered weapons. Its possible the team looks to trade Cooper before the trade deadline in hopes of securing a cheaper option at WR position and upgrading elsewhere or adding back picks they lost in the Ramsey deal.
On the offensive side of the ball, the team has major question marks with the tumultuous loss of Todd Gurley, whose spot has been handed to rookie HB Cam Akers. Akers looks like he has the makings of a bell cow back but still lacks the vision and instincts of a true HB1. Goff was signed to a major deal last season and has yet to live up to it. The team will eat a lot of flack if they move on from their top signal caller in the next few years but as we know Graham handed Foles his walking papers in Jacksonville shortly after he was signed to his 88 million dollar deal. With no first round pick in 2021, its hard to imagine the team moving on from Goff this year. With Kupp and Woods leading their WR room with Josh Reynolds and Rookie Van Jefferson it seems like Goff has all the weapons he will need to be successful.
The real gem of this team is their defence. With Donald and Brockers upfront and Ramsey and Long in the backfield this team will be putting pressure on the NFC offences. “With how our team looks on paper, If we don’t win the division in 2021 then the year will have been a disaster.” Graham looks poised to make a run in his first season as GM. “all of the eyes in the west will be focused on Wilson and Metcalf and Kyler and Nuk. But let me tell you, everyone has a game plan until they are punched in the mouth and that’s exactly what our defence is going to do week in and week out.”
With just four weeks of preseason standing in the way of week 1, we are looking forward to seeing what kind of heat Graham brings to this team. Our early season predictions have them finishing 11-5 and taking the division over the 10-6 cardinals.
Week 9
After the game was delayed nearly 4 hours, it finally kicked off at 12 am pst. Although the saints are 0-7 heading into this game, they have a plethora of talent and have recently traded for star QB Jacoby Brissett. The Jags are in a must win position and do not have the privilege to overlook any team, the saints with Thomas, Kamara, Jacobs and Smith have the ability to flip a game at any point and flex on any team. The jags are coming of a bye week and have been known to be sluggish after a week off in Florida, they need to come out of the gate swinging and keep up the pressure, they have had wicked 4th quarter comeback losses and with the colts at their heels this is not the time for one of their monumental collapses.
Both teams looked dazed and confused the first half with both CB2 Awuzie and Apple covering the WR1 in Thomas and Chark. Whittington has been on an absolute terror lately and today was no different, he ran for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns while Tua threw a nearly perfect game going 15/16 for 310 yards and 3 tds.
The score did not justify how close the game was. It was a 8 point ball game going into the half, but when the jags scored on their first possession of the half and managed a pick six on the saints first possession it was a completely different game. However as per usual the jags started their second half slump and the lead immediately fell to 7 points. It was again a close game until two back to back pick sixes forced the saints into survival mode.
The saints wide receivers put on a clinic today, Thomas was constantly making one handed highlight reel catches while Smith had Awuzie on skates and seemed to shake him on every route he ran. The one saving grace for the jaguars was excellent safety play today, they managed to read a few passes late in the second half and both safeties took a pick to the house and Delpit managed another late in the 4th quarter.
Next week lamar Jackson and company are headed to Duval. Last time these two teams met Jackson put on a track meet, look for the jags to try and slow down his running and force him to throw the ball. The division is still a tight 3 way race and at this point its anyones division.
