AFC North Preview

AFC North
Steelers 11-5
Browns 9-7
Bengals 7-9
Ravens 5-11

Steelers look poised to retain the title as King of the North. The Steelers hit you hard on both sides of the ball. The D is loaded with big hitters and the addition of Hooker from the colts will only improve that. Hooker and Edmunds could be very busy because that group of CB isn’t scaring a soul. The LBs are the key to this defensive unit disrupting the passer is the only way to keep a good passing team from torching them. The offense as prolific as it is with 2 X factor wide receivers and a young superstar QB needs to keep the defense off the field. Turnovers are what has kept this team from making a deep playoff run that could all change if they stay committed to feeding Guice and especially keeping Saunders healthy because a injury to him could derail this whole offense. The Steelers bring 2 of the best pass catchers in the AFC from last Season. Both JuJu and Washington are matchup nightmares for many teams and become even more deadly if Guice can stay healthy and stabilize that run game . The goal is to get Guice back to 2021 form where he rushed for almost 6 yards a carry. If they can achieve this I see another 11 win season and back to bac winners of the north.

Browns fished with their second 9 win season in 4 years under coach Shizauny. Cleveland fans believe  the browns can reclaim the division title from the Steelers. This will nit be easy with all the obstacles I their way the biggest one being QB Baker Mayfield in 4 seasons under coach Mac baker has completed 204 passes to the bad guys. This number is surely the reason for the browns failures.
The browns have built a well balanced team across the board they are not stack on D by any means but the secondary is the strength led by Ward and DROY and Best DB award winner Tre Carter. This may be the last chance for shutdown corner Gilmore playing under the franchise tag and being 32 years old will probably keep him off the browns roster next season should he choose to play for a 12th season at the age of 33. The GM and coaches all agree they need to not put everything in Baker shoulders and need to run the ball something they have never really emphasized on. The off-season was all about the run game . trading for power back Derick Henry and singing free agents David Johnson and Marlon Mack showed us that but then they spent a 1st Round Pick on RB Bowe a XFactor who they feel is a bit raw now but has tremendous upside. Will this new approach translate into victories maybe but the only chance at a playoff run will likely come as a 6 seed if they can sneak in

Bengals shocked everyone last season earning a playoff spot and a well deserved most improved owner award. Most would call that a successful season but not coach Cash he faced off against a familiar opponent in the Steelers on wildcard weekend and walked away victorious. This win had many fans across the league now pulling for the underdog bengals and he did not disappoint knocking  off the #1 seed Broncos and heading to buffalo to face the reigning AFC  Champs. With confidence at a all time high the bengals went in feeling like this was the year for them destiny was on their side. Coach Cash delivered a epic pre game speech that had them hit the field with no fear and victory and a super bowl birth on 60 minutes away.  The fearless cats quickly turned into little kittens crying out for their mommy and all that confidence and destiny crap coach cash filled their heads with was gone as they walked off the field heads hanging low. That feeling of dread is probably going to be a regular occurrence for these pussy cats. They will find themself clawing and scratching just to get to 8-8 but I have them falling just short at 7-9 but a few key moves to sure up the front 7 might give them the push they need to make a playoff push. Holcomb was a nice addition but him alone isn’t enough to get it done.

The Ravens GM Jimi is a mystery. His love for the big trade might be the biggest problem this team faces. This organization treats  QBs like used cars they use and abuse them shove cheap gas in their  tank and trade there ass in ...... normally the next line would be for something newer but again this is GM and we stated he is a mystery. He trades in his Lamborghini Jackson and replaced him with a 20 year old mercury cougar hatchback he found on Craigslist.  Then comes Bonner a great draft pick a X factor QB he’s no Lamar Jackson but he’s a big Chevy Silverado pick up truck a mans ride for sure. The fans accept this because they feel they have the pass rush if God’s true descendants of Oden himself.
The future is looking bright until yup you guess it it was stone to trade in the Silverado  for a ...........the next word should be upgrade but nope it’s not he goes and buys a a rusty ass van with the words free candy spray painted on it. The index card on the wall at the supermarket said classic van cheap needs some TLC . More like it needs a bleach bath and a deep pond. Who knows what went on in that van. I have the ravens finishing dead last and winning 5 at best. My suggestion is run Newley acquired RB Linsey into the ground pass the minimum 10 times and let the D put in work. I won’t be shocked if the defense puts up more TDs then also newly acquired WR OBJ. Looks like a Top 5 pick and a new whip next season.

AFC East Preview

 Bills 12-4

Patriots 6-10

Jets 6-10

Dolphins 4-12

AFC East has the raining AFC champs over the first four seasons so far in CNFL. GPA and his Bills have been a force but they could only capitalize one one of their  trips to the Super Bowl thus giving the NFC a 3-1 advantage. Will this be the year the Bills fail to make the Super Bowl I believe so with age creeping up on the skill position players and lack over overall talent on the team I think the run is over. GPA may be a great coach but at some point that won’t be enough.

The East also  has Febulous arguably the best GM in the league. He has turned that patriots roster into a offensive powerhouse but has gone a little more top heavy this season. The weakness is clearly the Defense with big question marks in the secondary and LB core outside of LVE. I can see lack of depth playing a key role in the success or failure of this team. Most of the patriots wins will have to come in the form of a shootout.

The Jets have fans scratching their heads. 2020 2nd round pick QB Richard Wand has turned out to be a bust so they turn to another Bust former 1st round pick Daniel Jones giving him a team friendly 3 yr 20 mil contract but is he even worth half that Maybe a 3rd team is the charm for Jones who is still just 26 and grasping at his last chance to live up to the expectations of a top 10 draft choice. I don’t see much of a chance for Jones because he just has no help around him. I look for the jets to go run heavy on offense to try and control the clock and let their D do most of the work to grind out some wins.

Dolphins what can we say about this team well we know they don’t like to run. Coach Hayer seems to find himself suspended on the regular for violating the 10/10 rule.Word from the league offices is that a season long suspension could be looming. All that rule breaking aside game plan and execution are the problem here. Every team in the league knows he’s chucking it deep to Watkins. The system is great for Watkins who is averaging  2150 yards and 25 TDs a season but like his other receivers Parker and Wilson he’s not getting any younger. All 30 WRs are 30 or older maybe that’s why they turned to USC stand out WR  Jay Huston with the 3rd overall pick. Hudson  gives the phins 2 XFactor WRs this could be a problem for most defenses. Speaking of defense the dolphins D is terrible the only bright spot is the front 4 and trust me that light isn’t shinning that bright and that’s why I see the dolphins at the bottom of the East posting just 4 wins in 2023

Stay tuned tomorrow for the AFC North

Disappointment

Patriots 2021 Year End Review

2-14 such a disappointment. The patriots are now 4 years removed from the division title and last playoff appearance. This leave us to wonder do they have what it takes to make one more playoff run.

The playoffs might be hard to envision for a team that has struggled to find consistent QB play since Tom Brady’s last effective year season 1. It’s no coincidence that was the last time they had a winning season. The player they expected to take over for Brady was Malcolm Rose who was shipped off to the saints for a first round pick. Max Cummings the late 2nd round pick out of Nebraska got his shot and put up 3500 yards and 20 TDs but the rookie also found the defenders almost double that tossing 39 INTs

Many pats fans were excited to see Tom Brady come out of retirement but that was short lived after a 6 interception game week 4 Brady lost his starting job for good .
It remains to be seen if Brady will return for a 22nd season at age 45

It wasn’t all negative. The patriots did have some positives. One being the play of superstar rookie Zach Allen. The DE registered a team and rookie best 17 sacks. Allen got a sack in 13 of the 16 games for the  patriots. The pats also added a much need WR in John Ross. Ross was added at the deadline in hopes he could help the pats take a run at the division but clearly that didn’t happen. The trade was costly considering they uncharacteristically trades away a first round pick that ended up as the number 2 overall pick. The positive is the patriots still own the right to the saints and Lions 1st along with multiple picks in almost every round. We expects the Patriots will again be very active in the trade market. We suspect moving back inside the top 10 will be a priority.

If the pats can hit in the draft and and a few veterans in FA to sure up the LB core and the secondary I think we can see the pats back in the playoffs in 2022

Guess Who’s Back

The G.O.A.T Comes Home

Tom Brady the man who has it all.  6 rings 3  MVPs 14 time pro bowler. Tom also has countless other record  and let’s not forget  a supermodel wife.  What more can a man who already has the gold jacket tailored and waiting  for him when he is inducted into the hall of fame hope to achieve.
We shall soon fine out because  the G.O.A.T has return home to Foxboro.

Brady inked a 1 year pack with the patriots at age 43.  Tom sat back and watch his pats go from division winners to a 3 win team. Tom said he seen a lot of promise in Rookie Malcom Rose when he agreed to stay 1 more year in 2019 to mentor the young QB.  Malcom has regressed without Brady. Brady has agreed to come back for at least one more year but Tom stipulated only as the starter.
Tom attempted only 37 passes in 2019 completing 20 of those 37 while tossing 2 INTs without a TD.

Brady hopes  that watching him and how he gets ready for a game as a starter will help Malcolm get back on track.
Brady admits even though he knew 2019 was Malcom’s year and he was there to mentor him that it wasn’t easy. After 19 years in the league most of which he spent as a starter Tom was not ready for the roll of backup.
It’s clear Tom feels he can lead the patriots back to the playoffs and a potential 7th ring so Tom Brady AKA the Goat is back for season 21 and ready to show the whole NFL that at 43 years old he can still perform at a high level.

The one question left is will Tom coming back as the starter cause a rift between Rose the displaced starter and the organization or will he gracefully accept the backup roll that was previously filled by Matthew Stafford who’s days I can only assume are numbered in New England
