Week 1 @ Seattle; the Redskins went down 38-34 with about 35ticks left on the clock and 2 to, the ball went into the hand of RGIII who has been play pretty subtle throughout the game took his Washington Redskins down the field to score with only 4 secs to give back to Seattle.The 2 big plays of the game to get down the field came from rookie WR Greene who came cleanly open in a post route in an open middle field, later down the drive similar play except the pass was to TE Davis who streaked his post route a bit more down the field which put the Redskins in a 1st and goal situation.
Redskins score and win 41-38
Week 2 @home against the Cardinals was a rainy and the field conditions did not help at all. With players falling to the floor and routes being cut off because of that the Redskins found themselves in another 4th qt clutch moment. With 1:45 left on the clock the Redskins have to drive down the field to get a game winning td. The play came off a bitter sweet moment when Javier Arenas jumps a post route and picks the ball off but take an awkward hit that led him to be carted off the field and out til Next September. With all the momentum left on their side Redskins just had to score on the driveand they do capitalize on the turnover by 2 great catches coming from Rookie sensation Greene who blast past double cvg and gets a gain that sets Morris in for the go ahead and what would be game winning td. Although, most thought the Redskins scored fast enough they also knew their defense will finish the job and that they do by an interception that Dominque Franks pulls out of the hands of WR Housler.
Redskins win 20-17
Week 3 @home against division rival NY Giants. The Giants started off really fast attacking all aspects of the field and with loosing Arenas who was their run support cb the Redskins went ahead and picked up Curtis Marsh who spent the majority of his career in Philadelphia, who came in with a roaring force by playing a tight man cvg on WR Cruz most of the game. One interception that came off of a slant route to the sideline (in which most teams in the nfl like to play now for some reason) in which Marsh jumps the route for the interception. The defense got really tight in the 2nd qt and did not allow anything big the rest of the game. But out of all the players who were playing physical defense 2 of them stood out the most SS Phillip Thomas who was putting big hits on anything that came his way who had 15 tackles (6 solo) and DE Jarvis Jenkins who had 2 critical sacks in the 1st qt. Not only was the defense producing because of the defense the offensive team was moving the ball up and down the field all game and RGIII almost 4 wrs with 100yds each, unfortunately a huge injury happened in which CB Correy Webster took a cheap shot at ex teammate WR Hakeem Nicks and puts Nicks out for 15 weeks. What would happen if you lose one of the 3 headed dragons? simple bring in the next set of 3 headed monsters and rookie WR Greene becomes the next beast to keep an eye out for.
Redskins win big 41-23
Week 4 @ Bills in which was a game of undefeateds, the Bills start off really fast that the Redskins defense was left arguing after the first drive of the game. But newly aquired CB Boykins sat down with the defense and got their heads back in the game. Before we get the best defense in the league the praise they desserve lets give some hype to a offense that rarely missed a heart beat starting with QB RGIII who went 11/13 for 307yds and 2 scores who completely drove the Bills defense into turmoil with his eyes and ball movement, but the biggest essential to this Redskins big victory was the RB Morris who ran like a mad dog just running over the dbs, "it was crazy how fast he got past the 1st line of dline, I never seen Morris run with such speed and power", said coach Shannahan. And he well did run like a beast racking up 137yds on the ground off of only 16 att and he also scored 2 times. Redskins made the Bills understand the reason why they continue to be undefeated by punishing them offensively and not allowing any gimmies on defense. The defense played real tight especially in the Redzone having 7 tackles for loss 2 sacks and 2 ints made it way to difficult to score. ROLB Ryan Kerrigan was the reason why the defense had so much pressure always being in the backfield helped and the fact that he had 17 tackles (5 solo) with 2 sacks and 1 intereception in the Redzone it became to difficult to do much.
Redskins win big 31-7 and continue to be on the streak 5-0 is where they stand
For the 2nd year in a row the Washington Redskins start off in the season with a streak, Last year their streak ended in week 13 already soldifying them a playoff spot this year owner Don Reyes said "I would like to see if we can go into the playoffs with a streak, but ultimately the Super Bowl is always our main focus".
Although the season didn't start of as planned the Redskins were fighting in their first 2 games with back to back 4th qt clutch comebacks that led to wins.
