In this years Super Bowl I made a prediction that was wrong. It was wrong because I said whoever won the turnover battle would win the game. That was one of the many wrong predictions I made in this wacky game. The Lions won the passing game with 194 to the Dolphins 158. They also won the rushing game with 32 yards to the Dolphins 26. The Lions took the cake in the sack department as well 4 to 3. The turnover battle was lopsided as well with the Lions turning it over 2 times to the Dolphins 4. If that didn't win the game for him I say this was where things turned around. That stat is red zone percentage. And on 2 trip the dolphins scored twice. Whereas for the lions they scored 1 out of 2 trips. The Phins also won the important 3rd down conversations with 40 to 33 percent. At the end it came down to determination and luck. The Phins won both of the categories 11-10 and we are so happy to bring a title to Miami.
A defensive struggle all they way the score was 0-3. The 3 coming from the first drive of the game. Lions lead the entire game and looked to have game sealed up with 4 ints and a great passing performance. But the game was dominated by them for the most part. With 2:50 left in the 4th quarter up 3-0 the lions hit a home run ball they had been oookignfor all game to speedster Goodwin. The score was 10-0 with 2:42 remaining. What would be the outcome. Justin's fucking Herbert leads them down to fg range with 3 timeouts and 2 minutes remaining the score is 3-10 (lions) and they run the ball 3 times all 3 times outs were called. The punt was kicked to sideline and reed snags for an incredible 15 yards. And who else busting fucking Herbert leads them down the field for a td with 9 seconds remaking. The score is 10-9 lions. The Phins call a 2 point play a run left. Dalvin cook hits pay dirt for the win 11-10 let's gooooooooooooooo
In week 12 of this season we had a matchup of what is now the super bowl. Where the lions and the Phins face off. Their first meeting ended with a 21-10 win by the the lions. This game was a great matchup and was 14-10 until the last drive of the 4th quarter. The Phins led in offensive yard 264 to 225 as well as 3rd down percentage 50 to 29. Where they did not win and what in all eyes lost them the game was in the turnover battle losing 3 to 1. So this game is simple (on paper) win the turnover battle win the game. In 3 post season games the phins are yet to turn the ball over will this luck runout or will it continue to be a magical postseason?

It's never too early to talk off-season and here we are with just one game to play. The Phins have a couple notable free agents coming and here is the plan to retain or release. First is DE Brandon Graham aging but still serviceable at 82 ovr with ss dev and good pass rusher moves he will be released and hopefully help a contender out next season. Next is C Larry Warford who hasn't started is 81 ovr and also aging he will be released. Next is safety Justin Coleman who hasn't started since the emergence of Stud FS Hamlin will also be released. Cb Rasul Douglas has outperformed his 1 year deal as a situational cb and will be retained by the Phins. When they achieve you must reward and he has earned his contract. Finally there is LT Michael Deiter who has also held together a piece by piece line so he as well will be retained. Who else will be a free agent for other teams?
Before he was inked as the first selection by the Dolphins in this past draft Espenesa we groveled over his potential. And yes he did live up to the hype. How he fell so low to us we don't know but we are certainly happy. This defensive line is second to none in the league and Espenesa is a big part to that. Finishing 3rd in DPOY behind FS Hamlin (dolphins) and Dugger (Texans) he also finished 2 in defensive lineman of the year to Watt (Texans) his impressive rookie season ended with 17.5 sacks, 54 tackles, 31 solos, and 5 tackles for a loss. With the rest of this line he will continue to shine and they will get better.
Rookie FS Damar Hamlin has outshined his draft round and grade. The FS started the season at 65 ovr and normal dev and was promoted to starter in week 3 of the preseason after seeing him ball in a game. Hamlin was drafted in the fifth round and is currently superstar dev and 84 ovr. His development and growth is second to none of any player drafted or any player I have ever seen. Hamlin finished the season 1st in DB OTY as well as 2nd in DROY only behind Dugger from the Texans. Hamlin finished with 58 tackles 33 being solo and 9 interceptions. This young Star has a bright future and we have only seen the beginning.
Rookie QB Justin Herbert from Oregon took the helm as the starting QB in the preseason. He beat out Dak in training camp and it wasn't a close race. Despite his slow start and the close to benching if Herbert he held his own and bounced back. He Boucher back so much he finished 7th in QB OF THE YEAR voting and 2nd in OROY voting. Only behind fellow teammate and main receiver Smith. Herbert went from being a 70 OVR 2nd round pick to a 86 OVR Super Bowl appearing QB in just one season. He finished the season with 3,689 yards, 34 tds, 31 ints (puke), and averaged 230 a game. This season was only the start and hopefully he gets a dev boost. Let's all cheer him on in the super bowl.
Rookie WR DeVonta Smith was a second round pick. A whole round after WR Reagor. But he did not disappoint come his rookie season. His season started slow but after week 3 when Reagor went down for 8 weeks Smith shined like no other. This young man finished 1st in OROY as well as WR of the year in the AFC for both awards. His amazing first season ended with 73 receptions, 1,481 yards, 20.3 yards per reception, and 18 touchdowns. We fell short of the 1,500 yard mark but went over the 15 touchdown mark. This rookie had an amazing season but has been quiet in the playoffs. Can he make some noise come Super Bowl?
The Phins has 0 pro bowlers how is that possible? We had the best wr and the best defensive back in the entire AFC. How did we not get those two in at least. In an injury riddled season at the rb position I can see that but we where rich in the defensive line with weaver, Espinosa, Oliver, and Wilkins. Also had rookie fs stud Hamlin who was defensisve. Ack of the year and wr smith who was wr of the year. We demand a recount on those vote. #recount #phins #sbbound
What a miracle facing a 93 overall team the dolphins pull a huge upset. The defense was lights out oline league MVP Allman to 133 yards in the air. And he got 60+ of that on the final drive. The defense also picked him off twice due to tipped passed. Howard was on the receiving end of those gifts both times. Only managing to come up with 2 sack the rush was consistent causing many early throws and throws under pressure. On the other aspect of the defense they bottled Up fournette and Abdullah for a combined 59 yards on the ground. The offense didn't do much but they did enough. In the clutch up 8 and on 3rd and long Herbert hit Reagor for a 54 yard beauty for his only touchdown. Another clean game by the offense with no turnovers. Good game jags. And hell of a season.
The young dolphins are in the conference championship. After an under stellar start to the season the team stay together and didn't turn on each other in the locker room. Now I admit it was hard at the point to not call in for the tanks but the team fought and grew from that point on. This years schedule was loaded and it took all we had to not get our heads down but after each game the team kept going. And now we roll into Jacksonville as a huge underdog, but what's the playoffs without an underdog? So proud of these rookies.
The Phins fall to an unimpressive 5-5 on the season filling a 21-10 loss to the young and talented lions. This game Herbert threw for 230 but the user errors were terrible the long 3 ints. The team has been so one sided with 2 Star rbs out it was the coaches decision to hold cook out a week as opposed to an early return this week. The defense held its own but was only able to manage one lone sack by LB Baker. The team as fore mentioned looked extra pedestrian and like it had no fight. Coach bread plans to call out each individual this week at practice to get ready for the game against the patriots. The Phins have seemed to be down but I'm sure they will get back on track here next week. Good game to the lions and good luck to him the rest of the season.
In the week 9 matchup vs the jets it was a battle for 1st place. The Phins ended up pulling off a hard caught win after a rocky start. The final score was 35-24. Lead by QB Hibbert he was off target all game passing for Uber 50% with a 8-18 throwing performance. His throws completed were huge tho averaging over 35 yards per completion. And totaled 2 passing TDS. His counterpart smith grabbed 4 catches for 183 and had 1 receiving td and 2 rushing tds. WR Reagor had his return but after the breakout season from smith during his absence he is spited at the wr 2 role. Newly acquired RB Dalvin Cook has a great game going until he broke his ribs sidelining him for the next 4 games. That trade looks like it will come back and bite us. But if he is good to go for the playoffs (if we make it) it can still pan out. At the end of the day we are at 4-4 after a 0-3 start where we almost packed the season up. This team is getting better but will it be a story book ending? Stay tuned to watch it all unfold.
At the trade deadline the Phins made a move on the bye week. The Phins move their 1st and 2nd round pick to bring in game changer Dalvin Cook from the Vikings. This was a hefty price to play for RB talent with a team that holds xfactor Phillip Lindsay and xfactor Jimmy Middleton. Does this show the need for a two back system or a lack of trust with Middleton being the only back? Coach/GM Bread won't reveal that answer. After the season ending injury to Lindsay the team felt as if it was one dementional and that's not the offense we run. With the passing game clicking the need to have a running game equally as potent was important to the front office so the move was made. Was this move the right move? As we all know only time will tell. In a tight divisional race this could be the difference in making or missing the playoffs.
