Cowboys week 1 recap
Offseason is over, its back to the gridiron with a new season! Coming off a disappointing super close super bowl loss and an even more disappointing offseason, everyone wonders how will the Cowboys bounce back!
Losing Demarcus Lawrence in the offseason is a big deal considering his domination of offensive tackles the last 5 seasons. Dallas has been drafting and developing heavily on the d-line because they knew this day was coming. After the first game, seems like most questions have been answered. Young buck Lionel Hunt went off with 4 sacks as they harassed the Rams QB and basically shut down that entire offense.
Dak Prescott has one of his best games ever throwing deep to speed wideouts Amari Cooper and Bruce going for 300+ and 3 TD's. Zeke and Pollard continued to compliment each other as thunder and lightning on the ground each getting 100+ and a TD a piece.
Great start to the new season!
Cowboys week 6 vs Redskins
Nobody likes early bye weeks. Boys seemed to come out flat, but each game against the Deadskins is normally a close one. These coaches know each other very well and this game was no different.
Prescott has one of his worst games ever throwing 4 ints including 3 HUGE ones in the red zone. Zeke did his thing on the ground and Tony Pollard had a sick nasty spin move for a long scoring TD reception.
Defense overall played well, but the offense put them in a ton of holes which gave the Skins a short field and boys just couldn't keep them from scoring points.
Hopefully the boys bounce back next week as this is shaping up into a tight divisional race.
Week 4 vs Jags
Continuing a strong start to the season the boys just overpowered and dominated the inferior Jags team.
Prescott didn't have to do too much only throwing 18 times, but 3 of them were for TD's to multiple targets. Zeke just went into iron man mode getting 100+ on the ground per usual.
Defense is establishing themselves every week and a goose egg this week was no different. D-law got 4 sacks and the rest of the defense harassed poor QB Myers into 4 ints. Dallas continues to win in big ways!
Week 3 vs Eagles
Third week in a row against a divisional opponent and the boys stepped up to the challenge in this one as well.
A stingy defense gave up some plays to Wentz in some key moments, but when the game mattered the most, they shut it down.
Prescott continued to be pretty good and calm throwing a couple of TD's and letting Zeke do his thing on the ground has proved to be a very successful formula to win games.
Defensively the boys held the Eagles ground game to under 50 yards. Making teams one dimensional is a great formula to winning as well
Week 3 vs Eagles

Week 2 vs Redskins
Another week, another divisional opponent. The boys didn't seem to worried about the Deadskins, but the game was too close for comfort and we shouldn't underestimate them going forward.
Prescott has himself a day throwing 4 TDs which is a rare site since the Boys are a run heavy squad. Young WR Coleman found the end zone twice and it has been good to see him continue his development.
Any divisional win is a good win and the Skins just didn't seem to show up for this one.
Week 1 vs Giants
The boys get started on the right track against a division opponent who seems to be getting better each time they match up lately. Giants have a scary front 7 and have given the boys a heck of time trying to run the ball.
Fortunately in this game, the Boys managed to get it done with defensive and making plays when they needed too. The score was closer than the game felt. Zeke ran for 178 yards and a TD and Dak found Cooper for the sole passing TD of the day. Defense did manage to get 7 picks. Only won by 4, but going forward this defense is no joke even with no LVE in the middle.
Cowboys offseason recap
Coming off of back to back championship runs, it seems like the money cap has finally caught up to the boys with some of their players! Cowboys have made some moves each offseason to counteract some of the future issues they would see. Paying big money to Zeke, Dak, Cooper, and Byron Jones was most definitely worth it with 2/3 championships, but they have lose players like Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and now stud MLB Leighton Vander Esch. I fear more players will be on the way out after this year since it seems not much cap relief is in sight unless the Boys make some more moves.
Enough with the bad, Cowboys moved up to #8 in the most recent draft and took Safety Gold. The most highly acclaimed heisman winner is an excellent player with talent as high as his ceiling potential. Immediately taking the starting job at strong safety and earning a few picks in the preseason plus one during their first game against the Giants. Look for him to not only help cover deep, but also be in and around run games. The rest of the boys draft was depth purposes with some potential building projects players to replace established vets.
Cowboys are trying to hold true to the "we don't rebuild, we reload!"
Week 7
In the second divisional matchup against the Eagles, things couldn't of started off worse. Prescott threw a couple of ints. Zeke couldn't get going on the ground. Giants newly acquired beast Aaron Donald was making things miserable for the entire offense. The one shining star was Amari Cooper seemed to have found his stride this game. 11 catches for over 100+ yards and 1 TD was a great day and really needed to pull this come from behind win.
Barkley made the cowboys run defense look really weak on his way to scoring 3 TDs and having a fantastic day. Part of that were Prescott's 3 ints leaving a short field.
the Boys finally got it together coming from behind and kicking a game winning field goal with time expiring. Great team win, but they didn't have to make it so hard on themselves
Week 6
Coming into this game, the Boys were not worried about the Falcons offense due to Calvin Ridley being injured. It's just a different team when he's on the field. It showed when the defense was able to get 4 picks off of Ryan. Lawrence continues his dominance with 2 sacks and safety Xavier woods got himself a duo of picks as well.
The offense struggled to score, but did enough to get a bunch of field goals and fed Zeke to control the clock. Zeke has 100+ and 1 TD. Prescott continued his inconsistency trend being fairly accurate and throwing an int but not throwing for a TD. Dak needs to figure out how to get his big WRs involved more if they want success going forward
Week 4
In the Boys first divisional matchup against new head coach of the Eagles, no one knew really why to expect. It was a close first half, but the boys pulled away in the second half
Zeke Elliot had a short day and only got 6 carries before he was injured for the game. Everyone started to get nervous because of Prescott's inconsistency throwing 2 TDs but also throwing 2 ints again. Tony Pollard put on his big boy pants and carried the load for the team with 100+ yards and a score in the ground. Blake JarWIN and 2nd year man Coleman each had several big catches and a score a piece.
Demarcus Lawrence showed up big again with 3 sacks. Jaylon Smith shut down the middle of the field with 2 ints and Anthony brown got himself another int as well. Defense stymied the Eagles offense for most of the game as they got that all first important win to move to 3-1 on the season
Week 3
Cowboys showed off a dominating performance on all sides over the Lions. Dak Prescott however has an inconsistent game throwing for 200 yards and 2 TD's but also throwing 2 ints. Thankfully, the defense was able to overcome his mistakes.
A rare interception fiesta for Byron Jones as he was able to grab two. Jones is usually really good, but the ints seem to be scarce. Anthony brown grabbed 2 ints as well and D Lawrence got two sacks during up a good victory.
offensively, Zeke had a great day with 175 yards on the ground and 2 TDs himself. Amari Cooper had arguably one of his best games with 100+ yards and 2 TDs.
Lets hope this offensive explosion continues.
Week 2
Against the ponies from Colorado, the Cowboys came out a little flat. Prescott didn't play his best game throwing 2 ints. Prescott didn't manage to come in clutch when the team needed him to make some throws and he found Michael Gallup for 50 yards and a TD.
Thank god for Zeke Elliot and the defense. Zeke had over 100+ yards and kept the ball away from the Broncos to come back and win the game.
Defense was solid for 80% of the game. The 20% was letting Trubisky run for more than 50 yards and letting the TE Fant get loose deep for a big TD catch and run.
None the less, the Boys pulled it off and evened up their record at 1-1
Week 1
Well a new season starting off against a very good opponent in the Cards. While the offense was really solid in all phases, the defense looked like swiss cheese giving up a ton of yards through the air to none other than stud receiver Isabella.
Byron Jones is a VERY good corner, but not in this game against a man who has ungodly speed and route running abilities. Sometimes he was even double teamed and still got open. The man is straight up just a beast.
Zeke Elliot is also a beast getting 200+ on the ground and picking up where he left off last season. Surprise WR Michael Gallup has a good game with 76 yards through the air and a big TD where he burned his man for a big reception. Cowboys will need more of this going forward and a better pass rush
The Draft
After the T. Smith trade, it looks like the Boys will look to bolster both the offensive and defensive line in the draft.
With their pick at #16 acquired from Philly, the Boys selected standout DE Shonn Ellison our of TAMU. Lots were shocked he dropped so low as he was very high on many lists. We expect him to start and start early and get after QBs. He joined a very talented and young d-line and he will only improve it.
The cowboys chose to go o-line with their next two picks. No real standout names, but we expect RG Brock Sweet to possibly start as well. Both players will need to develop quickly in this league to continue the success of the Zeke Elliot rushing attack.
With the 4th pick, the Cowboys went with a RB. No doubt for injury purposes if Zeke or Pollard go down. He will probably not see much playing team aside from special teams. The boys also selected a project DT that fits the scheme and could be used in a rotation or possibly sit on the practice squad a year or two.
Cowboys went FS and FB in round 5&6 to fill some depth holes. Neither is expected to start and probably will end up on the practice squad.
