AMG Season 9 Mock Draft (by Unisolated)

01: MIA- QB Chase Tennant (Oregon State)

It’s no secret across AMG that the Dolphins front office is not impressed with Carl Steinbach’s performance so far. Look for them to secure their QB of the future with the first overall pick. The Dolphins have a great QB class to choose from and the All Star game M.V.P. will be hard to pass up for the Miami front office.

02: MIN- CB Cortez Bryant (Kansas State)

Minnesota has two picks in the top 15 after securing a trade with the Packers. Expect the Vikings to take the top CB on the board in Cortez Bryant to pair with 26 year old Ed Hart in the secondary.

03: NO- LE Kevin Fisher (LSU)

The Saints can’t pass up on a pass rusher at the number 3 pick. Their defense in Season 8 recorded only 25 sacks and a lack of firepower on the defensive line was a major reason for this. New Orleans has a few defensive linemen to choose from in this draft and Kevin Fisher has the most upside of any of them.

04: CLE- WR Pat Cooper (Oregon)

You may be asking yourself why the Browns would take Cooper here instead of Anderson and Roach and the answer is simple, a 4.35 40-yard dash at the combine and 4.31 at the Oregon Pro Day. The Browns love speedy receivers and this kid’s talent along with his speed will be hard for the Cleveland front office to ignore.

05: PIT- HB Randall Singleton (Oklahoma)

A running back in the top 5? Say it ain’t so!! The Steelers have lost faith in an aging Phillip Lindsay and are looking for his long term replacement. I expect the Steelers to take a big risk with Singleton in the top 5 and I hope it pays off for them.

06: LAR- QB Ben Oakley (Notre Dame)

Notre Dame was FULL of talent in this AMG draft class and that all started at the QB position. The Rams aren’t expected to re-sign Keith Turner and drafting Oakley allows the rookie to sit for a season and learn the offense while Turner is on his way out.

07: GB (from SEA)- RE Cooper Holman (Miami)

After losing Kenny Clark and Grady Jarrett in the offseason, the Packers are looking to rebuild their defensive line. After trading the 12th overall pick to Minnesota for DT Pierce they have the experience they need on the dline and in the film room, now they need the youth to begin the rebuild. Cooper Holman is a good starting point.

08: DEN- QB Will Hoover (Michigan State)

The Broncos love drafting quarterbacks near the top of the first round and I expect this draft to be no different. Denver has been shopping Peyton Cox and drafting a QB here will allow them to make a preseason trade that includes Cox to gain draft capital for next season.

09: ARI (from NE) WR Isaiah Anderson (Louisville)

With Dhop gone to New England, the Cardinals will be looking to replace him in the draft. Hopefully Anderson will prove to be a worthy replacement for years to come.

10: HOU- CB Larry Humphries (Louisville)

If any team needed help at cornerback, it’s the Houston Texans. Despite having seven CB’s on their roster, they have no true number one guy to lock down the other team. Sources close to Houston believe Humphries is that guy and they are excited to see what a difference he can make.

11: BAL- MLB Matthew Black (Boise State)

After trading Malik Harrison to the Packers two offseason’s ago, the Ravens have an aging MLB group that they will be looking to sure up with Matthew Black. With a 4.44 40-yard dash, this kid had no problems in coverage at the collegiate level and has a special explosiveness when attacking the HB on running downs. I expect Black to be an immediate starter in Baltimore.

12: MIN (from GB)- SS Dell Brooks (Missori)

The Vikings traded up in the first round to bring in additional talent for Season 9 and one of the biggest holes they’ve had for multiple seasons is at the SS position. If Brooks is still available at 12, the Vikings HAVE to secure the position that has been their weakness for years.

13: MIA (from WAS)- LT Harry Walters (Tennessee)

Miami will have one of the best drafts of the cycle if Walters falls to them at 13 after trading for the pick from Washington. Most other teams at the top of the draft have other needs and Miami is expecting a top caliber offensive lineman to be available at their newly acquired pick to help their rookie QB succeed early in his career.

14: LAC- Forfeited Pick

No information available

15: KC- LT Isaac Pinkston (Iowa)

With Miami taking the first offensive lineman of the draft, I expect the Chiefs to follow suit with Isaac Pinkston from Iowa. This kid had highlight after highlight in the Big Ten and is expected to continue that success in the AMG.

16: DAL- LG Pat Franz (Alabama)

After Watching Miami and Kansas City take their first and second choice at OL, the Cowboys will dig deeper into their draft board with Pat Franz from Alabama. Rest assured though, Franz is a solid mid-first round pick and will help clear up some question marks on the Dallas offensive line.

17: TB- WR Grant Roach (Oklahoma)

With Godwin and Evans getting older and Roach still on the board, the Buccaneers take a dynamic receiver in Grant Roach to groom under the aging receivers into a future number one playmaker.

18: CLE- (from PHI)- MLB Jamie Snead (Florida State)

The Browns are in desperate need of MLB help and Florida State’s Snead is the perfect fit for Cleveland. His ball-hawking abilities in college will make him a day one starter for the Browns.

19: CIN- LE Matthew Drew (Arizona State)

Matthew Drew from Arizona State has the ability to play LE and RE in most defenses. The Bengals should take advantage of this and pair him alongside Norris and Reader and replace Barry Mixon immediately with this pick.

20: NYJ- ROLB Max Culliver (Ole Miss)

Speaking of versatility, Culliver played DE, OLB, and MLB during his time at Ole Miss and current NYJ ROLB Blake Cashman should be well aware that if Max is available at pick 20 he may be looking for a new team in Season 10. The talent Culliver brings to a defense can’t be ignored and Cashman is getting older for a LB in the AMG.

21: JAX- LE Bob Winthrop (Notre Dame)

The Jaguars need major help at the DE position if they want to get back to a Super Bowl. As mentioned before with Oakley, Notre Dame was a solid football team this season and just as Oakley was the leader on the offense, Winthrop held that title on the defense. The passion he brought on each and every play for the Fighting Irish would be a welcome addition in Jacksonville.

22: ATL- SS Manny Lovelocke (Arizona State)

Look for the Falcons to take Lovelocke and make him a household name in Atlanta. He has the talent to take the starting SS position from Chuck Clark on day one!

23: SF- SS Darren Burrell (Mississippi State)

What’s worse than having bad safeties? Not replacing them in Free Agency. The 49ers failed to secure any starting caliber FS or SS help in Free Agency and they will have to use the 23rd overall pick to fill this major gap in their defense.

24: GB (from CHI)- LOLB P.J. Davis (Middle Tennessee State)

The Packers brought in CJ Mosley and moved Rashaun Gary back to ROLB after a season on the left side. I expect the Packers to find a long term solution to the LOLB position in P.J. Davis out of MTSU.

25: LV-  FS Brandon Lambert (Oregon State)

Just like the Falcons, the Raiders have little talent at the safety position. WIth Lambert still on the board at #25, the Raiders have no choice but to try to get this talented DB.

26: NE (from ARI) CB Mitch Nelson (Oregon)

JC Jackson enters a contract year and there's no better way to have a sending off party than to draft his replacement in the draft leading up to that season. I expect the Patriots to draft Nelson and ship Jackson off to a Super Bowl contender mid-season.

27: TEN- LG Dorian West (Notre Dame)

With question marks at the LG and C position, I expect the Titans to make a move for an offensive lineman with their first round pick. Dorian West was incredible at protecting Oakley this past season and Ramsey would surely welcome the help on his offensive line.

28: CAR- WR Amari Mclean (Ole Miss)

With the top 3 receivers gone by this point in the first round, the Panthers will have to settle for a slightly less talented Mclean. Don’t worry though, he has plenty of talent himself and will be looking to prove to the others why HE should have been the first WR off the board.

29: BUF- CB Jimmy Beal (Mississippi State)

The Bills are facing a tough decision when it comes to their superstar CB White. He is entering the final year of his contract and if the Jaire Alexander contract is any inclination on the kind of money White will be expecting, the Bills may be hoping that Beal can be his replacement to use that cap room instead on their lackluster offensive line for Season 10.

30: NYG- CB Antione Forbes (Iowa)

The front office of the Giants loves defensive backs, I mean they do have 16 of them on their roster at the moment. I don’t expect that to change with the 30th overall pick as Forbes is a value pick and will likely go early in the second round if the Giants don’t take him here.

31: DET- MLB Sheldon Bolden (Iowa)

The Lions staff has been high on Bolden for weeks. I expect them to be ecstatic that he is available at their pick. Lions fans will love this guy as he has an extremely high motor and will make an immediate impact on the Super Bowl contending roster.

32: IND- CB Darien Ross (California)

What more could the Colts need? A future replacement for Kenny Moore II is their best option with the final pick of round one. Ross has the ability to fight for a slot cornerback position early in his career and the Colts DB coaches will love the kid. He has a natural ability to find the ball in the air early and create short fields for the offense with some spectacular interceptions.

Meet the Roster: Path to the MBL (Volume 5 - Madden 16 Finale Double Header)

Meet the Roster: Path to the MBL

Volume 5: (Madden 16 Finale Double Feature)

WR #10 Matt Hopkins (Detroit Lions) and CB #33 Chris Rogers (Jacksonville Jaguars)

What does it take to make it in the MBL? Are the superstars that so many people around the world idolize so different from you? Let's find out in this edition of Meet the Roster: Path to MBL. Today we will meet and get to know Matt Hopkins, the seemingly unstoppable, always explosive wide receiver of the Detroit Lions, the young man who came from the Deep South to the big show in a huge way. We will also get to know Matt’s childhood friend turned professional rival, cornerback Chris Rogers of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hopkins and Rogers both grew up in Columbus, Georgia. Columbus is near the military installation Fort Benning. The areas surrounding Fort Benning have always been notorious for petty and even violent crimes but are a very beautiful area with plenty of outdoors activities to keep residents busy. Rogers was Hopkins elder by two years but failing the eighth grade helped bring them closer in grade. They went to the same schools throughout their childhood and even lived within a mile of each other. The duo became inseparable at an early age and it was nearly impossible to see one without the other being right beside them. From grade to grade, year to year, the future stars spent nearly every waking hour together.

By the time they reached their senior year in high school, they had become the stars of the city through their football talent. Hopkins was the first string wide receiver for the Blue Devils and Rogers lined up straight across from him at every practice being the starting cornerback. Growing up playing back yard football, each of them knew each other’s tendencies and skill set. They were always helping each other improve and studied tape from practices and games together every single day. Hopkins dreamed of being a Dallas Cowboy and Rogers always wanted to win a Super Bowl with the Tennessee Titans. Throughout their entire high school career, they each dominated their school record books breaking record after record as they helped carry their team to three State Championships collectively.

Rogers graduated and declared to the University of Georgia. Starting the very first game of his freshman year, he suffered a torn Achilles on the third snap of the game destroying his hopes for a year of experience ahead of Hopkins. The only thing Rogers could do is study the playbook and watch game film which prevented him from reaching his full freshman potential.

Hopkins graduated the following year and never received a scholarship offer from Georgia where he had hoped to join his football counterpart. He did however receive a full-ride scholarship offer from the University of Alabama. He debated the decision to join a rival school for only a short period of time before deciding that it may actually be fun to actually go head to head with his best friend in a game and not just in practice.

The first meeting of the rivals was October 24th, 2015. Rogers was assigned to cover Hopkins throughout the entire first half shutting him down with only 2 catches given up for a total of 8 yards. In the locker room at the half, Alabama Coach Saban moved Hopkins to the slot. This proved to be the best decision of the game by either coach, it pulled Hopkins away from Rogers and the Bulldogs had no answer for the speedy, agile monster. Hopkins accumulated 14 catches for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns just in the second half alone leading to the young man receiving the player of the game designation and the game ball. Following the game Hopkins and Rogers went to a party where they were both arrested for underage drinking which led to two game suspensions for each player. This proved to be the only disciplinary issues that either player would face throughout their collegiate careers.

Rogers declared for the draft following his junior year and was selected 19th overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguar front office was ecstatic that he fell to them and stated, “Chris is an exceptional young man. He may not be the fastest corner in the draft but he is by far the most balanced and disciplined. We expect him to come in and start the first day as long as his performance translated to the MBL.”

The following draft featured Hopkins and his amazing receiving skills. Somehow, twenty-one other teams passed on the future Hall of Famer before the Detroit Lions got the future of their franchise. Bomber of the Lions weighed in on the decision to draft the young superstar, “Hopkins was brought in to be the replacement for Calvin Johnson when he decided to retire. We wanted to get someone on the team soon enough that they could learn from Calvin before his departure and yet someone that would bring a different style to the receiving core. Drafting the young man has been one of the best decisions we as an organization have made in many years.”

Rogers and Hopkins have both performed above expectations in the MBL but Hopkins has easily been the more productive professional.  With an average of over 1,300 yards in his first three seasons and on pace to have 1,425 yards in season 18, Hopkins has become way more important to the team than the Lions ever could have expected. He broke out before Calvin’s retirement and has yet to miss a beat since.  With a total of 35 touchdowns in just under four seasons, Hopkins has scored more points himself than almost every other receiver in the MBL. Rogers has had some off and on seasons while playing in Jacksonville with as many as four interceptions in a season and as little as zero. Despite not having the greatest numbers on paper, Rogers plays a huge role on the Jaguar defense and is still waiting for the opportunity avenge his first appearance against his childhood friend where he allowed Hopkins six catches for 101 yards and a score.

Not every MBL player comes from money. Not every MBL player comes from the bottom and is now on the top. Not every MBL player will make it past their first training camp. It’s the huge variety of upbringings and life stories that make MBL a success and a dream for millions of young children throughout the world.

Meet the Roster: Path to the MBL (Volume 4)

Meet the Roster: Path to the MBL

Volume 4:

WR #13 Spenser Mays (Seattle Seahawks)

What does it take to make it in the MBL? Are the superstars that so many people around the world idolize so different from you? Let's find out in this edition of Meet the Roster: Path to MBL. Today we will meet and get to know Spenser Mays, the twenty five year old wide receiver who has taken Seattle by storm.

Spenser grew up in New York City with his three brothers and one sister. His mother, Olivia, worked as a secretary for Tony Mervis Law Offices in downtown NYC and his father, Howard, was a police officer for the city.  Spenser’s childhood was rather uneventful and like most other children in the country with one exception. His sister Emily suffered from depression, onset by a tragic event in her life, which kept the entire family on edge each and every day. Emily was the youngest child of the Mays children. Because of this, the older brothers felt the need to protect her from anything and everything she may encounter that they didn’t agree with. When Emily was only fourteen, she began dating an eighteen year old senior in high school. Her brothers, especially Spenser, tried to warn her she was making a big mistake and tried to break them up on numerous occasions. This only pushed Emily to be more secretive with her boyfriend and after six months of dating, she told her whole family they had broken up. In reality she had been seeing him every day and within weeks of telling the lie, tragedy struck.

Spenser received a phone call at 1:25am from the Lower Manhattan Hospital. Emily had been rushed to the emergency room with gunshot wounds to the shoulder, leg, and abdomen.  She had snuck out of the house to go spend time with her boyfriend at the movies. After the movie was over, her boyfriend took her to a party at one of his friend’s house. An argument broke out resulting in shots being fired from both sides. Emily’s boyfriend was struck in the chest and he died at the scene, and Emily was rushed to the hospital as soon as police arrived. When Spenser received the phone call he rushed to the hospital to be with his sister as fast as possible. As he arrived at the hospital, demanding to see Emily, he was met by two police officers as well as the doctor who had helped her. The doctor informed Spenser that Emily had lost a lot of blood and would need the night to recover before any guests were allowed in the room but that she would survive. The police officers informed Spenser that his baby sister had cocaine and a pipe on her at the time of their arrival to the scene and that she would be taken to the juvenile detention center as soon as she was released from the hospital.

The tragic events of that night shaped the remainder of Spenser’s life. He vowed that night to better himself as much as possible to be able to help young children who have had their lives impacted by drugs. Spenser began working out and running every day after school and tried out for the football team his junior year at August Martin High School. His high school performance wasn’t anything to write home about but was enough to earn him a scholarship offer from Texas, Alabama, and Clemson. Spenser chose the Longhorns and moved to Texas. Telling his family goodbye before the move was not easy on him though, especially when it came to telling Emily who was still going through bouts of depression from the incident years prior.

At Texas, Spenser shined, he quickly became the second string wide receiver and scored an astonishing thirteen touchdowns his sophomore season, tying the record previously set by Jordan Shipley. His junior and senior seasons, Spenser matched his touchdown totals but could never get the fourteenth to take the record for himself. His excellent performance and ability to learn quickly put him on the map of almost every MBL scout. Spenser decided to stay at Texas for his senior year just to finish his degree, he had already accomplished more in his first three seasons than almost every other wide receiver in college football. Throughout college, Spenser frequently visited nearby schools, hospitals, and juvenile detention centers to talk and meet with children in the area who had been effected by or addicted to drugs. He pushed upon the children the story of his sister and the life she has led since the incident in hopes to deter them from going down a path they may never recover from.

Spenser graduated and attended the MBL draft where he was selected by the Seattle Seahawks third overall. In only two seasons in the MBL, Spenser has eclipsed 1,000 yards both seasons as well as scored 14 touchdowns each year. The biggest game of his career came against the Philadelphia Eagles this past season. Spenser caught six passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Even though he is not incredibly fast down the stretch, averaging 27.3 yards per game in this contest just goes to show; if you can run your routes to perfection as a receiver in the MBL, your top end speed doesn’t matter as much. Along with his performance on the field, Spenser continues, to this day, to visit the young children near his home in hopes to help as many of today’s youth as possible escape the never-ending battle with drugs.

Not every MBL player comes from money. Not every MBL player comes from the bottom and is now on the top. Not every MBL player will make it past their first training camp. It’s the huge variety of upbringings and life stories that make MBL a success and a dream for millions of young children throughout the world.

Meet the Roster: Path to the MBL (Volume 3)

Meet the Roster: Path to the MBL

Volume 3:

HB #36 Julius Burton (Dallas Cowboys)

What does it take to make it in the MBL? Are the superstars that so many people around the world idolize so different from you? Let's find out in this edition of Meet the Roster: Path to MBL. Today we will meet and get to know Julius Burton, the experienced running back of the Dallas Cowboys. Julius was never known to be the fastest kid in school. He wasn’t even known as the strongest. What set Julius apart from his peers and caught the attention of football coaches was his balance of both.

Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Julius never had the liberty of knowing his mother as she passed away due to complications while giving birth to him. His father, Leonard Burton, was a business man working in New York City. With over an hour commute added to his 10 hour work days, Leonard and Julius barely spent any time together, however his father was the one who started calling him “JB” for short when Julius was just an infant. Julius spent most of his childhood days when not in school at his aunt and uncle’s home and his uncle Neal had a huge impact on his life. Being an Eagles fan, Julius and Neal watched every Eagles game together. Always wanting to be competitive with his uncle, Julius began rooting for the Cowboys any time the two teams matched up resulting in Julius following the Cowboys scores and stats every week even at a young age.

Football was always a huge part of JB’s life. He was either watching it on tv, playing it on video games, or outside playing backyard football with his friends. He started playing during elementary school in a town league and continued into middle and high school, playing running back the entire time. After his sophomore year of high school, JB and his friends were outside playing a pick-up game when he tried to return a punt that nearly ended his career. The defender went low to tackle JB and having already successfully hurdled over two other defenders during the game, he tried it once more. The defender had seen the move coming though and rose up just as JB was over top of him, catching him on the foot and sending him head and shoulder first into the ground. All of his friends heard a loud pop and JB refused to get up from the ground. Fearing he had a broken neck, they called 911 to get him help. It turned out he had broken his clavicle and the broken bone had pinched a nerve in his neck causing temporary partial paralysis.

After recovering from his injury, JB earned the starting running back position his senior year of high school. He registered 1,623 rushing yards with 24 touchdowns as well as 1,109 receiving yards with 4 touchdowns. This single season’s performance led to scholarships flooding in from around the country. Julius decided to attend Penn State on a full ride scholarship following coach Paterno’s promise that he would be the starter his freshman season. JB’s award filled collegiate career (two time Doak Walker award winner, Heisman runner-up) was filled with distractions his senior season after defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky was arrested. His senior season was filled with interviews and investigations around campus. Despite all of the distractions, JB set the school record for rushing touchdowns at 39. This incredible performance despite so much being against him showed MBL scouts just how much perseverance and focus he had.

With a decent showing at the combine and Penn State pro day, Julius was projected to be taken in the third round of the upcoming MBL draft. The team expected to take JB was the Green Bay Packers. He was expected to be a similar style runner as Eddie Lacy and the Packers were expected to sit him behind Lacy to learn the speed and style of the MBL before becoming a relief player for Lacy to keep him fresh. Late in the second round however, the Dallas Cowboys pulled the trigger and took the young balanced back before any other team could add depth to their own team.

JB’s debut season was incredible to say the least, posting 1,116 yards with a ridiculous 14 touchdowns, he seemingly could not be stopped. It seemed opponents didn’t know how to stop a balanced running back. Being used to game planning against either an agile, fast player or a big bruiser, no one seemed to have an answer for someone who could do all of the above. JB could either break your ankles or run you over and defenders didn’t know how to prevent both at the same time. JB is now in his 5th season in the MBL and is coming off of his best season yet as far as yards are concerned. While the 2019 season didn’t see as many touchdowns as his rookie year, the role of leadership as captain that JB took on last season made a larger impact for the team than the scores. The front office of the Cowboys on JB’s 2019 performance: “He was the back bone of the team. He always fell forward and was extremely hard to tackle. He has been crucial for this team.”

On track for only 992 yards and 3 touchdowns, JB seems to have taken a step back in production but the Dallas Cowboys do not seem discouraged. Recently signing the still young running back to a 6-year contract extension, it would appear the Cowboys are in no hurry to replace Burton as their agile, bruising star. When asked, the Cowboy’s owner had nothing but praise for Burton, “He is the heart of the team. If it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t have the few wins we do have this season. He keeps us rolling.”

Meet the Roster: Path to the MBL

Volume 2:

CB #21 Will Slaughter (Miami Dolphins)

What does it take to make it in the MBL? Are the superstars that so many people around the world idolize so different from you? Let's find out in this edition of Meet the Roster: Path to MBL. Today we will meet and get to know Will Slaughter, the young question mark of the Miami Dolphins. Will Slaughter quickly became the biggest question mark of last season’s MBL draft but how did it happen?

Will was born at Larkin Community Hospital to Jenae and Larry Slaughter. The newlywed couple had spent their entire life in the southern Miami area and had purchased a small single family home there with plans to raise young Will in the familiar area. The area Jenae and Larry loved so much was not by any means a safe area to raise a young child however with high rates in murder, theft, and assault. Will quickly found himself in a struggle to both have friends and stay out of trouble.  Getting in with the wrong crowds in Miami could lead a young child down a disastrous path that typically ended in death or jail. Will had started off on the wrong path during the beginning of his middle school days when the football coach caught him trying to sell illegal drugs in the bathroom. Rather than sending him to the office, the coach decided the young man could be saved before falling into a downward slide. Will gratefully took the offer to drop the issue and join the football team.

After mediocre playing time throughout middle school, Will earned a starting position on the South Miami Cobra varsity team his freshman year. Having played some quarterback as well as safety and corner in middle school, Will had learned to anticipate receiver’s routes and had a natural ability of jumping them. As a freshman, he made 47 tackles with 2 forced fumbles and 3 interceptions. His play and natural ability to read offenses led to him being named defensive captain at the beginning of his sophomore season. With three seasons at the helm of the Cobra defense, the team won two state championships and appeared in all three.

At the end of his high school career, Will wanted to stay in the area he had spent his entire life and committed to the University of Miami pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He had a lot on his plate between practice and studying. Finding the perfect balance was a struggle at first but eventually Will was able to keep his grades up and still produce at a high level for the Hurricanes. Positing college totals of 281 tackles, 14 forced fumbles, 22 interceptions and 3 defensive touchdowns over four seasons, Will was projected as the top corner in the upcoming MBL draft and expected to be taken as the first overall pick to the Bears.

The MBL Combine was quickly approaching and MBL teams were becoming more and more anxious to see the highly regarded Slaughter in action in Indianapolis. However, not long before the Combine was set to begin, Will’s past caught up to him. He was arrested at House Nightclub while out with his high school friends and his fiancé. He had been in an altercation with a bartender who had supposedly charged him more than he thought he had purchased. The arrest led to Slaughter’s invitation to the Combine being rescinded. The news that the player projected as the best overall would not be attending the Combine completely rocked the MBL community. With little to no news as to why he was no longer invited being given to the owners, many teams now had a huge question mark as to both who the Bears would take first overall as well as where Slaughter would actually land. The Bears who had refused offers from multiple teams wanting to move up to the #1 pick were now in a very interesting position as they no longer had a sure-fire player to take.

Slaughter not being at the Combine resulted in the Bears taking CB Jelan Wilson with their pick and Slaughter slipping out of the top 5 on a downward slide that seemed to have no bottom. The Chicago Bears front office: “We knew Slaughter was going to be a good player from watching tape. We had Wilson and Slaughter ranked #1 but since Slaughter wasn’t invited to the combine we went with Wilson after seeing his sub 4.3 40-yard dash.”  The Miami Dolphins sat at #7 overall with cornerback being a need for the team. Even with his Combine question mark, the Dolphins decided to take a chance on the once in a lifetime player. The Miami dolphins were interviewed following the first round of the draft about their selection of Slaughter and said, “The tape doesn’t lie we don’t need a combine to know what he can do.”

With his rookie season officially over, the Dolphins seem to have made the better selection of the two teams with Slaughter recording 23 tackles and 4 interceptions to Wilson’s 20 tackles and only 2 interceptions. Miami got Slaughter at a cheaper salary with the lower overall pick and have gotten more production from him than the Bears seemingly thought he could manage. The Dolphins front office seems very pleased with their selection, “He made 3 interceptions in the 4th quarters of games in the final seconds and made plays whenever people threw at him.” Now that the reason behind his arrest and missing the Combine has been revealed by the Miami police department, Chicago must be kicking themselves that they let the better player slip through their fingers over a workout.

Not every MBL player comes from money. Not every MBL player comes from the bottom and is now on the top. Not every MBL player will make it past their first training camp. It’s the huge variety of upbringings and life stories that make MBL a success and a dream for millions of young children throughout the world.

Meet the Roster: Path to the MBL

Volume 1:

QB #12 Anthony Spriggs (San Diego Chargers)

What does it take to make it to the MBL? Are the superstars that so many people around the world idolize so different from you? Let's find out in this edition of Meet the Roster: Path to MBL. Today we will meet and get to know Anthony Spriggs. The young franchise quarterback of the San Diego Chargers.

Anthony Spriggs, a New York City native, is the only child of Mary and Daniel Spriggs. His father, Daniel, is a Medical Oncologist at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center.  Because of his father’s well-paying job, Anthony’s mother Mary never had to work since their marriage in 1991. With Mary being a stay at home mother and Anthony being an only child, he received all of his mother’s attention and was raised in a very relaxed atmosphere. Hardly ever in trouble and frequently having friends over for the night, Anthony quickly gained popularity among his friends. The Spriggs household was a rather large, 6 bedroom home just outside of the city and Mary would often offer to host birthday parties for Anthony’s friends, further increasing his popularity.

With a rising rate of drop outs in NYC’s education system, the decision was made whenever Anthony was a small child that he would be attending a private school once he reached the high school level rather than the public school system. Anthony was enrolled in Dwight School in the heart of New York City at the beginning of his freshman year. With tuition of over $43,000 a year at Dwight, Mary was forced to get her first job in over 20 years as an entry level receptionist to ensure the family stayed afloat.

The change from public to private school was not an easy one for Anthony. Having been the most popular student among his peers in public school, he quickly became the unknown new kid who was mocked for his father’s profession as many of the students at Dwight had parents with careers that made considerably more than Daniel. The majority of his freshmen through junior years at Dwight were rather uneventful as Anthony kept to himself and focused purely on his academics. He entered into his senior year with a 3.9 GPA and had scholarship offers from over twenty major universities.

Scholarships from Harvard and Cornell caught Anthony’s interest as he wanted to be successful like his father. More than that, Anthony wanted to play football. Having been a NY Giants fan his entire life, he was never allowed to play football as a youngster as his over-protective parents would never sign the release forms. With this childhood regret, Anthony made the decision to enroll at Louisiana State University rather than an academic school as he had originally planned. Even with no sports background, Anthony tried out for the LSU Tigers football program as a halfback but did not make the team. While giving him the news that he had not made the team, Coach Jackson advised Anthony that with his ability to retain information and apply it afterward, Anthony should consider studying up to be a quarterback and try out again the following season at that position.

Taking this information to heart, Anthony attended every LSU home game during his freshman year and recorded each game. Spending hours upon hours each week following the game, Anthony compiled three binders worth of photos and notes from the game film and used this information to teach himself how to succeed as a college level quarterback. At the try outs prior to his sophomore year, Anthony out played each and every QB hopeful including the current starter Tyrell Johnson. Unsure if his performance was a fluke or an act, Coach Jackson put Anthony on the roster as a second string player at the beginning of the season and told him that he would have to earn the starting role as one try out doesn’t justify him taking the lead of the Tigers.

Playing in only two games with 25 snaps under center, Anthony did not get a chance to see the field much as a sophomore but continued to improve his preparation skills through practice and game film.  Determined to take over Tyrell’s starting job, Anthony went into spring practice fully prepared both physically and mentally. The competition was close throughout the practice session with one key drill setting Anthony apart from Tyrell. Coach Jackson lined the team up full offense and full defense. He called a play action streak out of the singleback formation on the offense and an all-out blitz on the defense with man coverage behind it with neither side of the ball knowing the other side’s play call. Fully expecting both of his quarterbacks to take big hits and get sacked, Jackson began the drill with Anthony going first. The defense had been instructed to not show their intentions at all before the snap with no pre-snap adjustments of any kind.

Anthony lined up under center and snapped the ball. Faking the handoff to the halfback, Anthony looked up to see four defenders closing in on him very quickly. With only a split second to evade a huge hit, Anthony ducked under the first defenders arms as he went to make the sack. He quickly spun to his right causing two more defenders to collide and miss the sack as well. Buying himself another split second, Anthony heaved the ball deep to his receiver who had a slight step on the corner. The ball had been placed where only the receiver could make the catch and a “touchdown” was scored. However, as soon as the ball was released Anthony realized that he was about to take a massive hit from the teams hardest hitting linebacker. Anthony lowered his shoulder at the incoming hit in hopes that it would lessen the blow. The Linebacker had no intentions to hit Anthony high however and dove straight at his knees. Realizing what was about to happen too late, Anthony took a full body weight blow to his left knee and flipped over onto his back in agony.

The unnecessary hit had broken Anthony’s femur and tibia and Anthony was forced to spend the remainder of that sophomore season on the bench in a full leg cast.  After fully recovering from his injury midway through his junior year, Anthony was promoted to starting quarterback without even needing to prove himself once again to the coach as Jackson had seen all that he needed to see before the injury. Anthony led the tigers to an 85% winning percentage while under center and gathered a decent amount of tape for MBL scouts to review by the end of his senior season.

Most MBL scouts and owners were torn on whether or not to take a chance on the resilient, yet mostly unproven quarterback. Especially those with a high overall pick. His excellent ability to study game film and quickly pick up on what the opposing team was sending at him had a few of the teams in the top 10 looking more closely at him. With private workouts with four of the teams with a top 10 pick. Anthony shocked most analysts by being so highly regarded with such a small amount of game film and no awards under his belt.

The San Diego Chargers decided to pull the trigger at the number four overall pick and took Anthony Spriggs in hopes that he would become the face of the franchise. Taking over the team at the start of the 2017 season, Spriggs completed 63% of his passes with 27 touchdowns. The performance his rookie season earned him the 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Anthony wasn’t done there however as he destroyed the “sophomore slump” trend by improving his completion percentage by 10%. His decision making was vastly improved as well, throwing 30 touchdowns and only 14 interceptions, Spriggs led the Chargers to a 14-2 record and an appearance in the Super Bowl with this excellent performance.

The loss in the Super Bowl seems to have taken a toll on Spriggs however as at the halfway point of the 2019 season, Spriggs has regressed to an almost detrimental point having thrown 12 interceptions through only seven games. The Chargers owner Born2beAbeast has not given up on the young quarterback despite this performance.  When MTR got a chance to sit down with the owner, he told us “Spriggs has been a good leader for this team. He led this team to a 14-2 record and a Super Bowl berth and we feel he is still undervalued. Even though he hasn’t had a great start to this season, we feel he will turn it around and he is the future for the Chargers!!!”

Not every MBL player comes from money. Not every MBL player comes from the bottom and is now on the top. Not every MBL player will make it past their first training camp. It’s the huge variety of upbringings and life stories that make MBL a success and a dream for millions of young children throughout the world.

The Rose Report [Quarterly Review] AFC East

"The Rose Report" [Quarterly Review]

After a quarter of a season of football, the 2014 season is well under way.

Here are your AFC East teams in review.

Dolphins (4-0):

After an undefeated 2013, the Dolphins are off to another strong start, sitting at 4-0. The Dolphins are being led by Ryan Tannehill. Ryan has a 102.2 QB Rating despite having only 1 more TD than INT's. The threat of Lamar Miller at HB is still present however, leading the team in TD's he also has 721 yards after only 4 games. Averaging 17.6 yards one has to believe he is well on track for league MVP. The Dolphins have scored at least 42 points in their last 2 games and seem to have found their grove after a couple close games weeks 1 and 2.

Bills (3-1):

With a blowout win in Oakland week 1, the Bills carried that offensive momentum into the second week of the season and put up 42 points against the chargers. The Bills defense seemed to have partied a little too hard after the Raiders game however, letting the Chargers put up 41 points in what seems to have been a rather intense game. Following up the close win, the Bills hosted the Patriots and couldn't finish the way they started. After jumping out to a 16-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Patriots outscored the Bills 27-10 through the rest of the game. The Bills let that win get away from them and are sure to be looking for blood during the upcoming week 6 game in New England.

Patriots (3-1)

The Patriots have put up at least 30 points in each of the first four weeks (33.25/game) . Their offense seems to be clicking while their defense has greatly decreased from last season, allowing an average of 23.5, which Coach Rose is still steaming over. The worst team of 2013 is the only team so far in 2014 to have taken down the Patriots. The Giants bested them with a 38-31 victory. Ryan Mallett is still at the helm in New England while Tom Brady is still riding the bench. Will it continue to pay off? Or will it come to bite the Patriots in the ass?

Jets (1-3):

After having a couple bad breaks with his internet connection, the ets are still pretty untested and there isn't much to report on at this time other than the fact that the Jets have a lot of work to do in their division.

(Week 14) The Playoff Race - Coming Down To The Wire

WHO WILL GET THE JOB DONE WHEN IT COUNTS THE MOST?

As the first season of the rebooted MBL franchise comes to a close, and the playoff race is nearly completed, there are still many teams hoping for rival losses while other teams are simply trying to survive.

AFC:

On the AFC side, we have some interesting interesting things going on in the playoff race and throughout the season as a whole.

Dolphins: (12-0) Leading the AFC, the dolphins have went undefeated throughout 13 weeks and are looking to finish strong. They hope to be only the 2nd team in history to have an undefeated regular season (since the introduction of the 16 game season). With 2 qbs over 1200 passing yards each and with a combined 19 passing TDs on the season it seems the Dolphins can't seem to find their guy. The primary attack for the Dolphins however is not through the air like the "new era NFL". They like to pound it out on the ground with 213 attempts for 1744 yards by their starting HB Lamar Miller. Miller has 23 TDs on the season, 4 more than the dolphin passing game. They are led on defense by Dannell Ellerbe who has made a statement this season with 4 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, and 5 interceptions. Opposing offenses should always be looking for Ellerbe and will most likely be avoiding him at all costs throughout the remainder of the season and into the offseason.

Front Office: "This years Dolphins team is starting to draw comparisons to the 1972 team since we still remain undefeated but we can't really think that far ahead we have to focus on our tough match up with the Steelers this week then we finish the season with 3 divisional opponenents. The Patriots, Bills, and Jets so that is our focus and we will let the rest take care of itself."

Chiefs: (10-2) With only two losses on the season (Browns and Bills), the Chiefs have put together a solid season so far and are looking to continue their success behind the dual threat of the run and passing game. Having split time like the Dolphins at QB between Alex Smith and Chase Daniel, it would seem that these two teams may have figured something out that others teams have not caught on to yet. With a combined 3319 yards and 33 touchdowns between the two its clear that the Chiefs like to throw first. This doesn't mean that their running game shouldn't be accounted for. Running back Jamaal Charles has put together a nice season averaging 7.8 yards per carry on 186 attempts with 13 TDs. The Chiefs defense is average at this point as far as "standout players" With a 2 game lead on the Broncos, the division is still not on lock for Kansas City and they need to be sure to stay on their game for the remainder of the season to ensure a playoff spot.

Front Office: Could not be reached for a statement at this point.

Browns: (9-3) After knocking off the undefeated Chiefs, the Browns confidence moving forward skyrocketed. With the highest scoring offense and the being number 1 in passing yards per game, the Browns are more of the current day play style teams. Led by Zac Dysert's 3379 yards and 24 TDs the browns love to go through the air, especially to WR Josh Gordon who leads the team with 1125 yards and 10 TDs.While their offense is potent, their defense is nothing to be messed with. Having to go through practice against Dysert must be paying off for the defensive side of the ball as well. Their top 5 defensive players have a combined 15 interceptions on the season and are continuously shutting down passing lanes. The Game of the Week for week 14 features the Browns in a huge matchup against the Patriots. Having already won their division by a landslide, the Browns are looking to help knock the Patriots out of playoff contention.

Front Office: "Surprisingly happy with the season up to this point. Maybe could be a game better, but overall happy with the way the team is playing. Early offseason moves for Dysert and Moreno paid off as both are (were) in hunt for OPOY. Moreno being out will test the while team going forward but they should be able to handle it. The game with the Pats could be a wildcard game preview and the following game with the Bears could be a Superbowl preview."

Colts: (6-6) Having by far the worst record in the AFC playoff hunt at this point, the colts are looking to make it into the playoffs on technicallity alone. Only 1 game ahead of the Titans, the colts are in the worst overall division in the AFC. Only time will tell whether the Colts can hang on and win their division and push themselves into the playoffs. Regardless of which AFC South team makes playoffs, they will be in for a fight against the top dogs of the AFC who will be matched up against them. Can they hang on and prove that they aren't pushovers in the playoffs or will they be another bye week?

Front Office: "We can only worry about ourselves and let it all piece together, ONE GAME AT A TIME!"

Patriots: (9-3) With a huge upcoming week 14 game against the browns, the Patriots are on the verge of their 11th playoff appearance in the last 13 seasons missing only the 2002 and 2008 seasons. Being arguably the most productive team since the year 2000, the Patriots will be looking to make a statement against Cleveland. Since week 1, the Patriots have not started Superstar QB Tom Brady. Going instead with Ryan Mallett. The young new coach seems to favor youth and strong arms over tried and true talent. Mallett has not been a disappointment however having set behind Brady for a couple seasons, Mallett must have learned a thing or two about the QB position. With 2813 yards and 23 TDs, Malletts performance has been more than expected by Coach Rose. Shane Vareen being made the starting HB was a good decision on the part of Coach Rose as well. Vareen has had a solid season with over 1300 yards on the ground in a primarily passing offense.  The Patiots are currently in the Wildcard round but a couple slip ups in either direction could make or break the season for New England.

Front Office: While we aren't happy with sitting at 3 losses already on the season, we know that it's not every season a team will go undefeated the way the 2007 Patriots did. Benching Brady was a tough decision but seems to have paid off, we need to go ahead and get the reps in with the future of our franchise and you can't ask for a better back up than Tom Brady. As far as the game against the Browns this week, they are a good team, we are a good team, it will be a good game.

Broncos: (9-4) After a tough blowout loss to the Patiots, the Broncos are now fighting for their lives in terms of playoffs. Even with a hit and miss performance from Manning against the Titans, the Broncos pull out the win to help themselves push for the playoffs. With the Chiefs well ahead and the Chargers right on their heals, the AFC West seems to be a tough division to fight for a playoff spot in

Front office: "We are struggling without Demaryius Thomas, our defense will lead us deep into the playoffs and his return for a hopeful Superbowl run."

ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN

Chargers: (8-4) Having not played their week 14 game yet, the Chargers need to make sure they remain focused and get the win this week to keep themselves alive. They can easily make playoffs with just a little bit of luck and a lot of concentration.

Front Office: Its been an up and down season, we are trying to focus week to week and play consistent ball We finish up the season and we have to put our best effort forward.

Bills: (7-6) A little farther back than the chargers, the Bills are sitting in the middle of the pack in the AFC at the 8th position and with 6 losses on the season, they would need a lot of help to make it into the playoffs though there is still hope.

Front Office: "Overacheivement. We started off slow then bounced back to win 5 of 6. We are likely out of the playoff race but our #1 focus is improving our young secondary. We have been trying out the idea of moving Jarius Byrd to corner and McKelvin to safety. We are very happy with our offense."

Titans: (6-7) With a tough week 14 loss to the Broncos, the Titans players and coaches will now all have eyes on the Colts games not only this week but for the remainder of the season. If the Colts lose their week 14 as well, the Titans hopes remain higher, if only slightly. One thing is known for sure, the Titans need to make sure they win out the rest of the season first and foremost.

Front Office: "Titans are trying to make a playoff push but with Cj2k injured and locker inconsistent we're just hoping our defense can get us there but if we don't make playoffs there will be a lot of changes next season including bringing in a new QB."

NFC:

The NFC is slightly more locked in than the AFC, but still has some interesting storylines going on.

49ers: (11-1) Having demolished their division to the point, the 49ers are clearly in the playoffs and are looking to hold the number one seed and the highly covetted first round bye. With a near perfectly balanced offensive attack (250 passes/342 rushes, 237 with Gore) the 49ers have figured out how to move the ball effectively and that's the key reason they are sitting pretty with the second best record in the league.

Front Office: "Took over as coach week 8. Have been able to win a couple games in a row and we expect to hold down the 1 seed in the NFC and anything short of a Super Bowl appearance is a bust for this team."

Bears: (10-2) Yes you read that correctly. The Chicago Bears are sitting at 10-2 and are in 2nd place in the NFC. A good 3 games ahead of the packers in the division, the Bears look to be making a playoff appearance for the first time since 2010. Having signed Jay Cutler to a contract extension of 4 years, the Bears owners and coaches seem to have a lot of faith in the 30 year old and wanted to keep him from hitting Free Agency. Cutler, with 3166 yards on the season has put on a clinic with 28 TDs and only 10 Ints.

Front Office: "I can easily say the NFC North is the best division in the NFC and to be on top of it speaks volumes of the team i have here in Chicao. we have lost twice this season and avenged one with the opportunity to avenge the other. Jay Cutler has been masterful despite the critics and Brandon has been a monster. Since switching to a 3-4 I have really seen players like peppers and Paea step up their play to a Pro Bowl level. There are always improvements to be made no matter who you are and my team is no different. Each week we are getting better and hope to ride this momentum into playoffs. The Browns and Packers will be true tests going into the playoffs. I look forward to handing them both a loss. #FuckNixon"

Eagles: (8-5) The Philadelphia Eagles are leading the NFC East with 2 more wins than the Cowboys right now but have a huge upcoming game against the bears in a couple weeks.  The Eagles 16th ranked pass defense will need to step up their game in order to contain Jay Cutler and keep their playoff hopes alive.

Front Office: Could not be reached for a statement at this time.

Buccaneers: (7-6) Riding a 4 game winning streak, the biggest of which came against Detroit in a last second, 40 yard game winning TD to Jackson. The Buccs have to remain focused on all upcoming games, especially the week 15 matchup against the 11-1 49ers.

Front Office: "When we started 1-5 we didn't think with 3 weeks left we would be in first place in our division. Can't be more proud."

Packers: (8-5) Even though it seems that the Bears are going to runaway with the NFC North, the Packers have put together a good run this season and are still in the hunt for a playoff appearance. They will need to continue playing well with Rodgers and Lacy leading the team and minimize mistakes to ensure that they save themselves the embarrassment of letting the Bears make playoffs and not even making wildcard.

Front Office: "It has been a challenge to battle for a place in the NFC North, but we are playoff bound now and nothing will stop us. Some may know i do not take losing lightly, and to those I say...Don't get the impression that you arouse my anger. You see, one can only be angry with those he respects. We will be victorious. Defeat doesn't finish a man, quit does. A man is not finished when he's defeated. He's finished when he quits."

Vikings: (7-5) Yet another NFC North team on the verge of a playoff appearance. All 4 AFC North teams have the potential to make playoffs this season and it truly will come down to the last week or 2 to determine which teams will be playing deep into winter and which teams will fall slightly short. The Vikings seem to have forgotten that they have reigning league MVP at RB only getting 1011 yards on the ground so far this season. The new coaching staff of the Vikings seems to cater a little more toward the passing game and who knows, maybe the Vikings are sitting at 10-2 instead of the bears if they hadn't abandoned what they are known for.

Front Office: "Every game is big. We have to separate our self if we plan on having a shot.

ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN

Lions: (7-6) With an important win against the Eagles in week 14, the lions have seemingly kept themselves in the playoff race making them the 4th NFC North team that is in contention for an appearance. Loving to throw to the HB (Bush) the Lions have still not found a solid number 2 receiver. The gap between the number 1 and number 2 WRs is insane with Johnson having caught 57 passes while Moss (keep in mind this is the number 2 receiver) has only caught 16 passes. Moss has been eclipsed by Bush with 64 receptions (leads team) and two TEs (Pettigrew- 30 and Fauria- 28) with 11mil in cap space at this time, do not be surprised if the Detroit lions look for a solid number 2 receiver in the offseason whether they make playoffs or not this season.

Front Office: Could not be reached for a statement at this time.

Panthers: (6-6) Only 1 game behind the Buccaneers, if the Panthers can stay focused on their own games and not get caught up in the prediction or news hype, they could very easily find themselves in the playoffs as division winners. With one of the easiest remaining scheduled of all playoff contention teams, they could very well win their division and put Cam Newton into the playoffs for the first time in his career. Newton, a true two skill QB has put together a very nice season, racking up 2276 yards through the air and 402 on the ground for a combined 20 Tds.

Front Office: "I took over a Panther team who is fighting for their division and a possible Wild Card chance. Our division is very tight and pretty much open to anyone. Big match ups coming against the Falcon. Looking forward to the off season to help boost up this defense. Really enjoying coaching in this league."

Seahawks: (6-6) Being in the division with the number 1 team in the NFC can't be easy. Ask any of the other teams in the NFC West including the Seahawks. A .500 record at this point of the season is not great and certainly makes for a lot of work to end the season to even be considered a playoff threat.

Front Office: Could not be reached for a statement at this time.

Only time will tell which teams will put up and which teams will shut up when it comes to the final few weeks and most importantly, the playoffs.

Jaguars Big Move For Smith

The Jacksonville Jaguars had a rough start to the season and decided that a change at QB was what they needed to turn their luck around. They went out and got mobile QB Geno Smith from the New York Jets. They are hoping that the dual threat of both a passer and scrambler will add a dimension to their offense that will help propel them to the top of their division.

Power Rankings Broken Down

5 Weeks have passed and the powerhouses are starting to emerge. The three undefeated teams that remain are the Chiefs, 49ers, and Dolphins. The top ten teams in the MBL include the three undefeateds, the Vikings, Panthers, Bears, Chargers, Lions, Bill, and Browns.

Can Anyone Create A Rushing Gameplan Againts San Fran???

After five games, the San Fransisco 49ers have put together an outstanding overall defense. Ranking #1 in the league against the rush, the run stopping defense is only allowing an average of 32.0 yards and 160.4 yards through the air and only 8.8 points per game. These insane defensive numbers will make the 49ers Super Bowl Champions and massive record holders by seasons end if they can be maintained.

MBL Media Rose Report Weeks 1 and 2

MBL has kicked off and is in full swing.

Weeks 1 and 2 have proven to be promising for media outlets. Our stories today include:

  • Tom Brady benched
  • Kansas City blows out Jacksonville (week 1)
  • Nail biter in Buffalo (week 1)
  • Jacksonville continues to slide (week 2)
  • Shutout in Seattle (week 2)
  • Jairus Byrd inks a 7 year deal
  • Broncos and Browns make major moves to improve their franchises

                                                   Tom Brady benched?!?!?

After 13 season in the NFL, 12 starting, New England quarterback Tom Brady has unwillingly given up the reigns of the 00's dynasty Patriots. Owner Shadow Rose made a statement early in his career by enforcing his policy of youth over experience by forcing his coaches to name young cannon armed QB Ryan Mallett the starter. Ryan Mallett has proven capable putting up a 1,031 yard, 9 TD performance through 3 games.

                                 Jacksonville disappoints the home crowd

Kansas City came into Jacksonville and took no prisoners. Forcing 2 turnovers while having none themselves, the Chiefs just all around seemed more prepared for the game than the Jaguars. The Chiefs offense was on point as well, racking up 240 yards on the ground and 311 through the air on the way to a 47 -14 victory.

Buffalo goes for 2 and the win, proves to be worth it

Despite a 3 turnover performance by the Patriots they still held the lead late in the fourth quarter. The bills however would not take no for an answer. The bills mounted the comeback and went for 2 to pull off the 37 to 36 upset.

Jacksonville off to a rough start

After a miserable performance week 1, the jaguars were looking to turn the season around early in Oakland but fell short again with a 58 to 14 loss. Raiders HB Darren McFadden destroyed the defense with 348 yards and 2 tds.

                       49ers defense pitches a shutout

The 49ers came into Seattle and straight disrespected the 12th man. Having only 33 total offensive yards, the Seahawks couldn't keep up with the balanced attack of the 49ers. Time of possession seemingly paid a crucial role in this game with the 49ers controlling the clock for 18 minutes compared to the 6 minutes by the Seahawks. 49ers win 20-0.

Jairus Byrd puts ink to paper

The Buffalo Bills and FS Jairus Byrd have agreed to a 7 year, $60.9M contract with 18 million dollars in signing bonus.

                              Big moves in the AFC

The Browns and Broncos strike an important deal week 1 to help cement their seasons early. The browns send QB Brian Hoyer and a first round pick to the Broncos for QB Zac Desert, and HB Knowshon Moreno. Very soon after the deal was confirmed, the Cleveland Browns and Knowshon agreed to a 5 year, 17.2M contract to ensure he stays a member of the organization. The only question that remains now is, was Knowshon in the ear of the Cleveland coaching staff before the trade was even announced? You have to wonder.
