The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Classic rivalry games are hard to come by and this game was no exception. Dez Bryant returned the opening kick 107 yards for a TD to put the Packers in front 7-0. The Bears offense was unable to sustain their first drive as it stalled out and had to settle for a Chris Carpenter 56 yard field goal to make it 7-3. On the ensuing drive Aaron Rodgers diced up the Bears defense, seemingly passing at will and finding themselves in the endzone yet again to make it 14-3 as time expired in the 1st quarter. With the early lead the Packers seemed to be well on their way to a victory, but the tide seemed to turn around in the 2nd quarter as the Bears offense opened up and Jay Cutler hooked up with Jordan Matthews over the middle for a 76 yard score to make it a 14-10 ball game. The Bears defense in the 2nd quarter held Rodgers and the high powered Packers offense to just a field goal to make it 17-10 with 2 minutes left in the 1st half. The Bears went into their 2 minute offense and was able to move the ball strategically down the the field to tie the game 17-17 on a Matt Fote 26 yard scamper, thus giving Rodgers 45 seconds to close the half. The Packers did well with what time was remaining, marching down the field to put them in a position to take the lead, but found themselves with a 17-17 tie at the end of the half on a missed field goal. The second half was a completely different story as the Bears, with momentum in their favor, took the opening drive down the field to make it 24-17. The Bears secondary played lights out football in the second half intercepting Rodgers 4 times. In the end the Packers fell short - losing this rivalry match-up 34-17. Next week the 3-1 Bears face off against the 3-1 Arizona Cardinals in a week 5 showdown. This one should be game of the week, a must see.

Bears Maul Stafford In Blowout Win!!!

In what many thought would have been an easy win for the Lions considering the Bears are under new management turned out to be the exact opposite. In a game were defense took precedence over everything. Stafford seemed in control early in the game driving down the field on the Lions first possession of the 1st quarter, but that's when the Bears defense showed up, sacking Stafford 2 times & intercepting him once. As for Matt Forte he did't start the season out on a high note fumbling the ball on his first carry of the season. Forte then settled down & gained 187 yards on only 19 attempts, while Cutler & Martellus Bennett got on the same page connecting with Bennett on 6 of his 12 completions for 136 yards and a TD. Cutler finished the game completing 12 of his 15 attempts for 233 yards and 2 TD's & finishing with a perfect passer rating 158.3. Up next another NFC north showdown against the (1-0) Minnesota Vikings.
