Chiefs owner sells team and buys Eagles

Well, that's it. The Chiefs have a new owner and a lot of the fans are saying good riddance to the owner. "It seemed like he just didn't care whether we won or loss" said a fan outside the stadium. The club held a party for the owner who was on his way out, and they had a good time but were confused why he would leave in the middle of the season. "I have Philadelphia green running through my vains. So when I heard the owner was thinking of selling I appoached him and he said I could do own the Eagles. So I had to do it sooner than later." said the owner.

Well, good luck in Philadelphia old owner, you're not making the playoffs this year anyway!

Chiefs narrowly win Chargers, 42-38

Game Recap

Last time the Chiefs played the Chargers, this year, the game was fairly one sided. This time, it was much closer with an almost all passing game. Both teams accumulated less than 100 yards on the ground. Bray was a successful 236 yards, and Rivers dominated with 355 yards. In fact, if not for the one pick Rivers threw, this would be a Chargers win. "The ball was just barely in my reach when I reached up for it" said Eric Berry, who caught the only interception thrown by Rivers.

Bray had a few long throws that helped make up his 236 yard day, one for 43 yards to TE Travis Kelce and another for 24 yards to WR Torrey Smith. It was Smith who had the most receptions, 12, and receiving yards, 179, for the day. Jamaal Charles was quiet with only 4 rushing attempts but still got 32 yards making it 8 yards per carry.

The team should be worried about the outcome of next week's game against the Bears who are currently fighting for the playoffs. Here's to hoping we don't see more Alex Smith in Tyler Bray like last week and the game is at least a close match.

Browns dominate weak Bray, 69-10

Is Alex Smith back? No, that was Bray who had 8 interceptions. "I don't know what happened, I had a dream the night before where I was tearing it up. We had a nice back and forth going through halftime. And then this morning, it all went out the window" said Bray. The new starting QB for the Chiefs had a rough game, but he promises to polish his throwing for next week's game against the Chargers. With only 162 total yards and very little time with possession, it was no wonder the Chiefs got so dominated by the Browns. The Browns are a top 11 team according to power rankings, so the Chiefs were going to have a tough time even without all those interceptions.

Chiefs Defense did their best at trying to stop the Browns, but Kinne threw 7 TD's on 19/31 passes and the Browns managed over 100 yards rushing. Not a good day for the Chiefs as this loss all but puts an end to the season dropping over 2 games back from the Wildcard race. Let's hope for a bounceback against the Chargers, and here's to hoping we don't start chanting for Alex Smith's return.

Tyler Bray officially starting QB for remainder of Chiefs season

Head coach Andy Reid confirms Tyler Bray to get the start over Alex Smith for the rest of the year. "We were extremely happy with the performance Tyler showed in the game against the Texans. We liked what we saw and we want to build on that with more reps and chances in the spotlight." Some call this a weak sign for Andy Reid, bending to the will of the fans. "The fans were right in wanting to see Tyler start in a game, but we didn't make our decision based on their feedback. I'm the head coach and I decided this after seeing what he accomplished in Texas" he responded.

When approached about the official news of being Chiefs starting QB for the remainder of the year, Tyler Bray said "Alex was one of my favorite players to watch when I was in high school. His college performance was incredible and I looked up to that. Having the chance to play behind him has made me the player I am. I wish Alex the best, but I am here to stay. I hope the fans will enjoy watching me play as much as I was enjoying playing."

Bray leads Chiefs to win over Texans, 59-23

Chiefs needed a win, and the man to make that happen has been a backup QB all year. Tyler Bray finished his first start as a 1st string QB with over 350 yards passing and only 2 interception. That was only half of what the Chiefs have been seeing all year from Alex Smith, and never have the Chiefs had a 350+ yard passing game this year either. To top this off, Jamaal Charles still managed to get 220 yards and 4 TD's. The defense finally upped their game this week as well with 4 interceptions, 3 of which belonged to Jordan Poyer.

Todd Hammond, starting QB for the Texans, still managed to get 236 yards for the day with an 80 yard TD to Andre Johnson. Arian Foster was the redzone man for the Texans with 2 TD's but only carried 66 yards on 10 carries. Garrett Hartley hit a 48 yard field goal just before the half, his only one of the day.

When asked if Tyler Bray is going to be the starter, head coach Andy Reid said "We were really impressed with Tyler's performance, but we are going to hold off on making any decisions right now with that position." The fans felt like the club was listening to their cries for a change, and were certainly hoping to hear Tyler Bray was going to be the starter now, but no official word yet.

Tyler Bray to get start over Alex Smith

It would appear that the fans are finally getting what they want. Tyler Bray will be getting the start over the Alex Smith agianst the Texans. "With the playoffs seeming like a hard sell for us, I think we have no reason not to put in Tyler. We'll give Alex some rest and see what happens after next week." said Andy Reid. While Bray isn't the starter for the remainder of the year, we'll see what this does for the team and fan morale. All we can say, is that it can't be much worse than 4+ interceptions every game.

Broncos take Chiefs in close rematch, 14-19

Game Recap

In what everyone thought would be the first Chiefs win in over a month, and at home.. became another sad story for the playoff contention for the Chiefs. "It's looking more and more like we won't be making it this year, so we are just going to have to pull out of the stops now." said Andy Reid, who let Tyler Bray get quite a few more snaps then Alex Smith this week. But it was all run game for the Chiefs with a total of 377 rushing yards between Charles and Gray.

Alex Smith finally has a game with no interceptions, but he did only throw the ball once... and missed his target. Bray was called in to take over after a sack that resulted in a -3 yards for Smith, and tried to connect on 7 passes, but missed all of them. Your math is correct, the Chiefs had 0 complete passes on 8 plays and 377 yards on 32 runs. Fans were excited to see Bray get more snaps, but were disappointed when it resulted in just hand off after hand off to Charles and Gray. We'll see what's in story for the team next week when they face the 2-7 Texans.

Raiders can't be contained by Chiefs, another loss 48-21

Game recap

The story every week seems to be about Alex Smith throwing more interceptions, and this week is no different with 4 picks. Jamaal Charles was contained so much that they were forced to go to the air early and when this happens, Smith throws picks. "I don't know what is going on out there, I see an open man and I just can't get it to him." said Smith, who is finally talking to the press again. This game is the 4th straight loss, and with each one the playoffs are getting further and further away. Smith did manage to throw 169 yards on 8 passes, but missed quite a bit with 21 attempts. Charles ran only 92 yards on 17 attempts, as the Chiefs were down early and it was making for a hard decision to keep shoveling him the ball.

Torrey Smith was the star of the day again with a 91 yards TD pass early in the game, but fell silent the rest of the game. "I can't help it if Alex would rather throw it to the opposite team instead of me. All I know, is that if he throws it me, I'll catch it." said Smith. Tensions are definitely mounting within the team with Smith's accuracy problem. Maybe next week, head coach Andy Reid will listen to the fans and give Tyler Bray more of a chance. Next week the Chiefs face the Broncos again, and the game should be good with Peyton Manning still at the helm.

Chiefs lose yet again, this time to Dolphins. 44-16

Chiefs are on a 3 game losing streak, and the playoffs are slowly disappearing. Offense only scored 3 points against the Dolphins, but Alex Smith didn't throw an interception before being taken out of the game in the second half. "I was ok with Alex's performance this week. He only had 6 passing opportunities and he ran a pretty good rush. But we were down and we needed someone who could throw way down field and we thought Bray was that guy." said Andy Reid. Bray did throw 2 interceptions and completed only 1 of 9 passes, proving he's not quite ready to take Alex's job "it's completely different than college was, but it's also a different game when you are down by over 14 points trying to get back in the game." said Tyler Bray.

Jamaal Charles was injured with a bruised collarbone in the second quarter, effectively eliminating the running game. Gray wasn't given much of a chance to replace Charles, running 1 time for a 0 yard gain. Being down the entire game wasn't helping the running game get started even before Charles stepped off the field.

Special teams once again steps up and scored the only points, aside from Succop's 49 yard field goal, running 2 kickoffs back for TD's. Charles is rumored to be getting back into the spot Avery was in this week as kick returner. "Maybe with Charles we can actually get some good starting positions and get some field goals instead of turnovers." said one fan.

Next week is a make or break week for playoff contention as the Chiefs face the raiders. A loss here could spell the end of the Chief's run this season, but a win keeps them alive... for now.

Chiefs lose big at home to Packers, 38-14

Coming off the bye week, fans were hoping to see a new Alex Smith but with 5 interceptions they got more of the same. "I know the fans are calling to remove Alex from the starting lineup, but Bray just isn't ready yet. We still have a winning season and good chance to make the playoffs, switching now would be bad for team morale." said head coach Andy Reid.

But the problem wasn't just Alex Smith, the defense was having a hard time stopping Eddie Lacy and Aaron Rodgers both combined for 320 yards on the day. "Seems to me, you stop Jamaal Charles, you stop the Chiefs. Alex can't throw, so we knew we'd have a good game if we stopped Charles." said Antoine Bethea, Packers SS who managed 1 interception and led with 7 tackles for the day. "I felt really mismanaged that game, I only got to run 11 times." Charles said.

Fans are calling for Andy Reid to switch out quarterbacks to give Bray a chance "It can't be much worse than we currently see with Alex" said a fan outside the stadium today. We'll see as they face a tough Miami Dolphins next week, if they decide to hold off one more game for Alex or not. Alex couldn't be reached for comment today.

Chiefs sign RE Drake Nevis for $680k one year contract

Kansas City  -  Chiefs sign Drake Nevis for a one year contract to test the waters on this 310 lbs 25 year old Right End. With two current RE players possible to retire soon, Andy Reid felt it was appropriate to fill the hole with some proven talent until 20 year old Darnell Louis molds into the NFL star he was drafted to be. "Darnell is still wet behind the ears, and even though it won't take him long to replace our current Right End options, we still need someone to back him up." coach Andy Reid said.

This comes during the bye week, and a week after the Chiefs let go of three other players. The amount of money available in the cap room now helped to allow this deal between the right end and the Chiefs.

Chiefs D dominate Chargers O, 17-9

The opening drive for the Chiefs showed just what kind of day it was going to be for Jamaal Charles, as he took up a 52 yard rush stopped just short of the endzone. "I'm really glad I have the offensive line that I do, or I wouldn't be able to carry for so many yards per carry" said Charles, 2nd to only Marshawn Lynch in the league. When asked about a fued between Lynch and himself for that top rb spot in the league, Charles replied "You know, I think whoever is the better athlete is going to really show it. Right now it's Lynch... but things happen during the year... unfortunate accidents CAN happen." Lynch could not be reached for a reply to Charles catching up to him in rushing yards, one can only assume he is scared.

Alex Smith threw for a mere 76 yards on 5 completions on 12 attempts, but still managed to throw 2 interceptions. Reid was asked if he's going to repeat the same mistake of having 2 decent QB's on his team and starting the wrong QB like in Philadelphia. "Alex is making a lot of mistakes, and it's causing these games to be closer than they should be. But the fact remains that we are winning and Alex is still my #1 QB." Let's hope Alex gets extra reps in during the bye week next week and comes back to a none interception game against the undefeated Detroit Lions.

The real story is how the Chiefs defense shut down the Chargers the whole second half. Keeping Rivers and Woodhead to a low 134 yards combined for the day. The Chiefs grabbed 1 interception and forced 2 fumbles to make up for Alex Smith's turnovers. The Chargers need to get things going if they expect to make the playoffs this year with only one win above the bottom Denver Broncos, it's not looking good.

Chiefs clean house

Earlier today the Chiefs cleaned house by trading LE Malik Jackson, and CBs Sterling Moore and Sean Smith to the Cardinals for some draft picks in the 2015 and 2016 draft. "It was really a great time for us to focus on the future of our club, we'll be able to really get some young talent in the coming years by letting these wonderful athletes go" said Andy Reid, head coach of the Chiefs. Jackson and Moore only had a year left on their contracts and would have looked for resigning with the Chiefs if asked. "I wasn't even involved in the trade, all of a sudden I find out we aren't in contract negotiations but I've been traded.. that's all my agent said I should say right now" said Jackson. Sean Smith still had 2 years left on his contract and wondered why such a "talented CB" would be thrown to another team, let alone the Cardinals. "I was the best thing to happen to that defense, but I wish the team well, and I know I'll be able to improve the Cardinals D" Smith replied.

We'll see who the Chiefs end up with in the draft, making the team younger than it's 25 year old average right now. But this could prove great for the franchise's future.

Chiefs resign LOLB Houston - 6 year $63m deal

Chiefs have agreed to a $42m, with $21m signing bonus, for LOLB Justin Houston. "I love the team, and I hope that I can continue being an asset to the team" Houston said. Recording 15 tackles for the year already, Houston promises to make his 3rd year with the Chiefs better than his last year. "I think he's a really talented individual, and he's become an integral part of the team. We'd love to keep him for another 6 years, he's only going to get better." said defensive coordinator Bob Sutton.

Some question the willingness to sign so much money for Houston, "I think he's great, but I also think we could have had someone equally good at a much cheaper rate" said Jim, Chiefs fan outside starbucks. Only time will tell if he was worth the money.

Chiefs allow yards, but not points. Win over Broncos 36-12

Kansas City wins again at home, this time against Manning and his 0 win Broncos. Jamaal Charles looked poise to post a record game before being injured in the early part of the 2nd quarter, gaining 64 yards on one run. Cyrus Gray took over and still managed to get 26 yards on 4 carries. This helped open up Alex Smith's 36 yard pass to TE Anthony Fasano, who caught the ball 5 times for a total of 67 yards. Alex Smith records yet another game with an interception. "Alex just needs to keep calm in the pocket and trust his offensive line. Right now his touchdown/inteception ratio is lower than 1:1, and that's not good. I don't plan on putting Tyler in, but Alex needs to get this on track" said Andy Reid.

It was a squeeky win for the Chiefs if not for their defense catching 2 interceptions and 4 fumbles, and returning 2 of those for touchdowns, it would have been a much closer 21-12 game. They also kept Manning at a 24/41 completion rate, dominating the Broncos running game and only allowing 3 rushing yards.

Next week's opponents are the 1-3 Chargers, a loss here would be hard for fans to take. Especially for a team that had the 7th worst run defense in the league against #2 running back Jamaal Charles.
