NOTE, these rules are copied from the forum on Sept 2017.  For the most up to date rules, click on the link above.

We all know what SIM is so play that way.

NO DRAMA including chat blowups, please try to resolve matters in PM.

Above all, treat your fellow league mates with respect in game and in chat.  Quitting is not tolerated.

SUBMIT RULE BREAKING / CHEESE / WHATEVER
If your game starts to go sideways, pause and turn on twitch or record plays, that's how you need to submit for staff to review for rule breaking.  No he said she said, we all have tools and this is the easiest way for us to see what's going on.  This includes inappropriate messages on chat.  And give us the whole story.

***The following rules govern all league play

Unsportsmanlike Conduct:
If at any point during the game you feel that your opponent is not playing by the rules:
1. Pause the game and go on chat, mic, or message back and forth. Make them aware and try to handle between both parties before escalating.
2. If it continues, continue the game whether you're winning or losing and save video or picture evidence. Do not resort to playing the same way. This is to be emailed discretely to the League Commish (Pollux2) for them to handle. This is NOT to be turned into a flame war on the forums or in chat. Please allow time for appropriate action to be taken. PM or Email is the best method to do this.
3. This includes if you think your opponent quit / disconnected on purpose.

Advancement and Game Scheduling
-Contact info will be on each teams Team Page.
- Any members who do not contact their opponent 12 hours before advance will be determined to be MIA and will not get preference in a scheduling dispute. Give your opponent time to reply.
- In order to get a force win you need to contact your opponent prior to adv day.
- Played CPU games will be rare.
- It is recommended that you schedule your games through DM/PM (Direct message / Private messages) so that you can keep a record of the conversation.  Tagging your opponent is only a secondary method as it doesn't work for all players.
- Notify your league if you will be on vacation to the commish and forum prior to the current advance at a minimum. Indicate dates away.

Website
-Please be active in the forums as well as on the game.

Glitches
-Any known glitches are NOT ALLOWED WHATSOEVER! These are just a few examples of glitches:
-Motioning Glitch
-DC Glitch
-Line of Scrimmage Glitch
-Pause Glitch
-Pile Up Glitch
-Onside Kick Glitch
-Hit Stick Glitch
-Onside Kick Glitch
-Nano.

Disconnect Rules
- Under NO circumstance can you disconnect or restart a game vs the cpu (This includes losing the game and injuries). Take screen shot and send to Commish if this happens for proof.
- If a game disconnects it is up to the team that is leading on how they want to handle it, they have 2 options. Start the game over from the beginning (fresh start with no exceptions) or Give the team with the lead, their lead back, and waist time until the time that the game disconnected at.
- If the game allowed you to count game, the team remaining in the game must check with the other team before allowing you to count the game.

Play Calling
- Mixing up play calling will be required!
- NO SNAPPING THE BALL AND IMMEDIATELY THROWING TO RUNNING BACKS!
- Screen Plays We don't want to set a number limit for screens but keep the number low, there should not be a game where you throw a bunch of screens.
- Please do not call 100% the same play, mix up your man and zone plays. No 100% man, no 100% press, no 100% blitz. Don't run the same drag/slant/streak plays all game. We all know the type of people we like to play, so please be one of them.

- Onside Kicks
 - You can only Onside Kick if you face one of these deficits:
-Down by 21 points or more
-Down in the 4th Quarter

. Onside Kicking in any other situation is not allowed.
- Goal Line -
You CAN NOT use Goal Line formation unless you or your opponent is within 10 yards of either goal line. This includes formations without a WR in them.
- No Huddles
-You may no huddle within 2 minutes of the end of the 1st Half.
-You may no huddle during the 4th Quarter IF YOU ARE DOWN

Killing the Clock

-You MAY NOT kill the clock until within the 2min warnings in either half.

4th Down Rules

You may only go for it on 4th Down during these conditions:

1. You are down by at least 28 points in the second half.
2. Any time you are down 17 points in the 4th quarter.
3. Any time you are down 9 points with 5:00min left in the game.
4. You are down by any amount and there is 3:00 min or less in the 4th quarter., BUT if you are down 3, you cannot violate rule 4 and go for a touchdown when a FG will tie it.
5. 4th 1 or Inches and past the 40yd line into your opponent's territory.
6. you are up by 3 points or more and you fall into 4th 1 or inches, punt the ball no matter what. Going for it on 4th Down when you're not in FG range does not show any sportsmanship to your opponent and reflects bad on the league.

7. Fake punts or FG's are never allowed.

Moving Players

- Defense -You can only move one player before the snap and when you move them you have to stay on them until the ball is snapped, using the Strategy Pad is legal, however it must be used before you move a player on the field.. Any additional user movement is NOT ALLOWED. You are also not allowed to shoot gaps by manually lining up inline AND between the defensive linemen.
D-line players can only be move with pre-set adjustments
- Offense: You may manually move a player, however, you cannot snap the ball until the player in motion is outside of the tackle or tight end, whichever one is last on the line.

General Rules of Thumb to show good sportsmanship
- Do not milk the clock. (It's ok to do it inside 2min warnings). Try to call plays in a timely manner.
- When you get a huge lead, you should be running more then passing.
- You should not be passing heavily when you are up by a large margin vs opponent or CPU. Run the ball more. However when it's clear a team is running the game out, calling run commit is not ok. Passing when you are up 4+ scores late in the game shows bad sportsmanship, but that doesn't give the opponent to blitz heavily or run commit. You should be running more then passing in this situation.  If you're up 4 scores late in the 3rd quarter you should not be passing.
- When the game is pretty much over, kneel the ball. If your opponent is kneeling out, don't call timeouts.
- You can Trash Talk in a friendly manner, but keep it civil and don't push it too far.
- Do not run up the score when you play User vs CPU.
- Playing SIM vs the CPU Means you still follow all of our rules and still play a SIM game vs. the CPU, showing good sportsmanship to the league.

- Run different formations all game, don't keep using 3-4 or Nickel on defense or I-Form or Single back the entire game. Use your whole playbook.

- Do not Rocket Catch

- Your combined HB (RB+FB) receptions cannot equal your 3rd highest reception total for any player on the team.
- You shouldn't be throwing to your HB as soon as you hike the ball.
-Every few weeks or if we get complains on throwing to the HB/FB, we will check stats.
- In the same way as the above, the TE should not lead your team in receiving yards by more than 10% over the season and your QB should never lead in rushing yards over the course of the season.
- As a rule of thumb your top WR shouldn't have double the yards or receptions or double the TDS compared to your 2nd.  The stats should be balanced through your depth chart somewhat.
- Depth Chart: Your #1 OVR WR and #2 OVR WR are interchangeable, but have to be your top two rated WRs
- Receptions and carries should also not be out of line with your other players. (i.e. TEs/RBs/FBs getting the majority of your catches). Nor should you have one player that far exceeds receptions of your next highest player.
- Do not tank games in order to get good picks in future drafts, doing so can result in the loss of draft picks.
- In a blow out game, it shows good sportsmanship to sub players out. This can be mutual for both teams. And chew clock can be a mutual decision as well.
- If your opponent is breaking a rule, it does not give you the right to also break one.
- If you feel that game play is an issue, pause and talk to your opponent in private in groupme. If your opponent pauses the game, look for a message in groupme as well.
- Players can not manually control the WR to push the CB out of the way to gain position. This is offensive PI. If you feel this has happened, record the play and show an admin.
- No playaction passes on 3rd and long or 4th and long. This includes hot-routing the RB to run a route or block as it's still a PA formation and causes the same effect.
- You cannot hot route Dlineman to cover passing routes, there are playbooks that have this included but it is not allowed to be done manually.
- You should not be going for 2pt conversions with a big lead. (ie. 13 points)
- Do you pull defenders off coverage to allow a player to score.

Scrambling with the QB

- Use the pocket, that is what your O-Line is for.

-Do NOT scramble as soon as you hike all the way to the sideline.
- PA Rollout does not mean you PA with the QB and continuing to sprint to the sideline.
- Do NOT drop back tons of yards so that you can throw deep balls all game to your receivers.
-You should only scramble when you have to, when you're about to get sacked, if you have waited and no one is open, or if your opponent is not blitzing anyone and leaving everyone in coverage.
- QB Draws / Runs and options plays are allowed, this should not be abused.
- Do not take advantage of the no scrambling rule on Defense, if you are playing against a scrambling QB like Mike Vick, respect the fact they can run, and use a spy, you cannot treat a fast running QB like a pocket passer.
- Play maker control is not allowed in the league.
- Calling timeouts when your opponent has a huge lead late in the game when a comeback is not possible is not allowed either.  That's delaying a game, and possibly stat padding.  (example, down 28 points late in the 4th)

Position Subbing.
-HB's cannot play FB, FB can play HB.  HB's can be pulled out to the WR area manually presnap. TE's are allowed to line up at WR in the slot as long as they aren't position subbed, only plays that naturally put them there.
-Linebackers are interchangeable.  OLB - MLB can be edited.
-Defensive Line are interchangeable DE - DT can be edited.
-Defensive Backs are interchangeable FS - SS can be edited, Safeties can be changed to CB. However CB CAN NOT play S or be edited to S.
-OLB/DE: DE can edited to OLB
THE FOLLOWING CANNOT BE EDITED:
CB to S
WR to TE, TE to WR
HB to FB
LB to Dline (WE WILL ALLOW THIS ONLY FOR PLAYERS LISTED AS D-Line ON NFL TEAM PAGE, IT MUST BE APPROVED BY REQUEST ON THE FORUM BY ADMIN FIRST.  THIS WILL BE A TRIAL FOR URL UNTIL MADDEN 18)
DB (CB or S) to LB or vise versa
TE to FB, FB to TE
Anything to QB
*Once you change the following: FB TO HB, S to CB, those are permanent moves.

Trading
- ALL TRADES NEED TO BE SIGNED OFF BY POLLUX (Commish) REGARDLESS OF THE NUMBER OF VOTES.  Trades need majority of approvals over rejections and a minimum of 3 approvals.
- Players can only be traded ONCE per season including the off-season.
- Draft picks can be re-traded within reason.
- Free Agent pickups CANNOT be traded in the same season they're picked up / acquired.
- Players cannot be cut and resigned during the season (including preseason and playoffs) to shed cap.  (This includes short time frame ie. before and after advance).
- Teams can only trade 3 PLAYERS max per team (draft picks not included, players only).  Reasoning we've seen a lot of trades where teams are evening with fluff players, it always happens.  This will keep the integrity of the teams without breaking them.
- Teams are allowed to have 6 draft picks in the first 3 rounds. Max of 2 for the first Round, Max of 3 for Round 2 and 3.  Again, teams were abusing by stocking up on draft picks and selling off their teams, which as we all know breaks madden teams and ruins the franchise for everyone.
*NO TRADING FUTURE PICKS, current season only.

Balanced Rosters / Team Minimums
-Teams should not overstock their rosters at any position, as it does not happen in real life. Please keep within reason.
-Teams need a MINIMUM of 53 players on their roster to order to play their games.

Playbooks
- Any playbook already in the game is acceptable.
- NO CUSTOM PLAYBOOKS. Any playbook that has plays changed is custom.
- NO CUSTOM AUDIBLES

Stat padding
- There will always be the occasional game with big stats, but generally they should not exceed the following:
Passing - 400 yards / game, Rushing and Receiving - 200 yards / game.
- Yearly averages should fall in line with NFL stats approximately.
- If this is abused, it will be handled in the 2 strike policy.

Hurrying to the line and quick snapping
- This isn't allowed, it doesn't allow the defense to make any adjustments. The only time this is ok, is inside of the 2min warning in both halves of the game.

Swerving
Swerving is not allowed either on regular plays, kick returns, OR by manually controlling an offensive player to push the defender.

Hotroutes - Only one allowed per play.
Teams should not call multiple hot routes on any play. Hot routing the HB to block counts as a hotroute.  If you feel that you need to, you aren't mixing up your play calling or using an appropriate playbook.
*NOTE - hotrouting to max protect uses 2 hotroutes (TE and HB), therefor it's not allowed.

FREE AGENCY - During the season including Preseason AND PRACTICE SQUAD STEALING
1A. For Season 1, there will be a Free Agency Draft, regular Free Agency as described below starts after the draft is finalized.
1. Free Agency is closed during preseason week 1 to 3.
2. After that round, every player will be allowed two free agent pickups per (Madden) week / advance. ONLY DURING Week 4 of the preseason, and week 1 through 8 of the regular season.  THIS INCLUDES PRACTICE SQUAD STEALING, 2 players total from either Free Agency or Practice Squad per madden week.
3. Any player dropped in season is held from Free Agency until the NEXT madden advance, and then joins the regular free agency.
4. Free agency closes after the trade deadline – week 8.
5. Exceptions to closed free agency: Injury, if a team can not field our minimum roster requirements, Commish to assign a bottom rated player that Pollux delegates until injury is cleared.
6. If free Agency rules are broken Commish will drop one of the extra free agents which exceeded the limit at their discretion .

* All teams must have a minimum of 53 players, Commish will delegate bottom rated players to fill rosters under 53 after the draft.
* If you miss your pickup for that week, you CAN NOT stockpile your pickups, you lose that madden week.

FREE AGENT BIDDING for the OFFSEASON:
-You may not offer a contract that is less than half of the amount of years the player was asking.

I.e., if a player is asking for a 5-year contract, the minimum amount you could offer them would be 3 years.

Asking 2 years, you can offer 1 years
Asking 3 years, you can offer 2 years
Asking 4 years, you can offer 2 years
Asking 5 years, you can offer 3 years
Asking 6 years, you can offer 4 years
Asking 7 years, you can offer 4 years

* Failure to comply will result in the following: cutting the player and taking the cap penalty AND/OR league punishment to take into account the effects of the misconduct. As determined by Admin.

Formations NOT allowed
Gun - Monster (spread formation)

Twitch - Mandatory Archieving of games:
- twitch is a great tool. It's very easy to set up a twitch account if you don't have one already. Please go to twitch.com and download the app on the Xbox console.
- If it "lags" you have the ability to turn the quality down to medium or low and it'll help avoid lag. If you have any questions on how to do that, please feel free to ask.
- you can turn archives on, that could be done in the settings. Go to twitch.com log in to your account, click onto settings, then click onto channels and videos and hit: Automatically archive my broadcasts.

Please follow the steps to ensure it works for you.

1. If you have a slower connection or there are server issues, twitch can be set to a lower quality. The settings can be found below where you record. Where you record on the console in twitch, there is "Start Boardcast" and "Settings". The quality settings are in "Settings" and they'll save for the next time you play.
2. Make sure to achieve your broadcasts. This is done by logging into the twitch website under your profile. Go into settings on the lower left side of the menu. Under "Channel and Videos" make sure 'Automatically archive my broadcasts" is checked.

If you can't get twitch to work for some reason, you can record on a phone or tablet and upload the video to youtube.

You can also record plays after the game finishes before you exit out of the game.

Recording your game will protect you as a player, will show you were maybe you've run plays too much, and will also help Admins see what's happening in the game so that it's not he said / she said.
If you have an issue, send Pollux the link to your archieved twitch broadcast and point him to key points which support your complaint.  It is not mandatory to post the twitch link in chat, but it is MANDATORY to archieve your games.
