Heading into the second half of the season things are looking up here in Big D.... and its all thanks to the Big play of the Cowboys defense.
The Cowboys opened the season with a Huge game against the Seatle Seahawks and things started out well. Rookie Qb Dustin Wheeler was managing the game well throwing 2 TDs & limiting his mistakes. Runningback Tevin Coleman was running well averaging over 8yds per carry, scoring twice. The Defense had held the Hawks offense to 21pts thru 3qtrs. Then came the 4th qtr and the loss of Defensive Leader and Team Captain Sean Lee.... The defense would give up 17 points in the final quarter, losing the game 38-31.... The team would go on to lose the next 3 games and 2 more players to significant injuries.
Going into a key wk 5 home game versus NFC East Rival Washington Redskins, the Coaching Staff decided to scrap the shift to a traditional 4-3 defense & go back to the Hybrid 34 Defense that allowed for more versatility, and for more athletic playmakers to move around and do just that.... MAKE PLAYS! In a home Win over the Redskins and a Stunning road win over the previously unbeaten Tampa Bay Bucaneers the last two weeks the Dallas Defense has racked up 8 sacks and 7 interceptions and 2 Touchdowns, a 52yd Ben Heeney pick 6 and a 104yd Lucky Whitehead Kick return TD.... Now with Defensive Captain Sean Lee returning from injury this week and 2nd yr Playmaking Saftey Rashard Jordan the next Confidence is building the Boys in Big D are lookin to make some Serious Noise in the second half of the Season....
