In less than 24 hours from being released, Danny Amendola has been picked up by the Miami Dolphins. Earlier this morning, San Francisco announced their ending with the veteran WR. “It feels great to just keep getting the chance to play the game,” said Amendola. Miami, under new management, has been pretty steady on moves so far but decided to add their ideal slot guy.
“He (Amendola) does not have breakaway speed, but what he brings to the table is route precision, something that can open up the short passing game,” said Coach Bowers, when asked how Amendola will fit into their scheme. Amendola is a 9 year veteran and has played for 4 teams so far, St. Louis Rams, New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and now the Miami Dolphins. With Landry and Crabtree manning the outside, this will make it difficult for teams to cover the underneath game with Amendola added to the roster. Ryan Tannenhill should have quite the opportunity to turn his disappointing season around.

After 5 weeks without a win, the Dolphins finally get their first of the season. Showing progress already, the hiring of Bowers proves right as Dolphins looked like a different team. Not only did the offense manage the clock enough to give their defense much needed rest, the defense held the Bills to only 2 FGs. “The guys responded well to my hire, and I am glad they are finally playing up to the level I knew they could,” said Coach Bowers.
Starting out the first quarter, Fitzpatrick dumped the ball off to HB Carols Hyde for a 46 yard gain on the second play of the game. The Dolphins kept it conservative the first possession and managed only a field goal. The Bills would answer back with a field goal of their own after a shanked kickoff went out near the 50 yard line. The two teams battled it out on defense until the 2nd quarter when Fitzpatrick found TE Cameron for a touchdown up the middle. With only a minute or so in the first half, Bills got aggressive and Parker Austin would throw a pick six to the Dolphins defense making the score 17-3 going into halftime.
The Bills would get the ball to start the 2nd half and would not be able to take advantage of it. Austin would throw another interception giving the Dolphins great field position. The Dolphins would march down the goal line only for the Bills to force a fumble and recover it. Both defenses played well in the 2nd half and only combined for 10 points. The Bills would turn in another field goal to make it 17-6 before Fitzpatrick hit WR Michael Crabtree on a zig and Crabtree would break it in stride to make it 24-6. The Dolphins remained stout racking up 4 sacks and 3 interceptions. The Dolphins would only have the one turnover, the fumble by their WR.
The Dolphins will now get Lamar Miller back for next week’s game in New York vs the Jets. If Dolphins keep the momentum going, they could turn the season completely around. If they want to make any kind of playoff push at this point, they have to play flawless and have a ton of help from around the league.

After a dreadful 0-5 start, the Miami Dolphins have fired their head coach. Stepping in immediately is Coach Bowers. Bowers come from a experienced background in coaching with success and failure. Bowers has made it to one Superbowl but could not finish the job. Bowers has went downhill with success after the lost Superbowl, but still offers the Dolphins a great chance at winning.
With Ryan Tannenhill out atleast 2 more weeks, Bowers will have to start his debut with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Bowers had nothing but praise for the veteran QB, "He has been with many teams for a reason, he can manage a game and (Fitzpatrick) will always be given a shot in this league with his talent." To further help the pass game, Bowers plans to lean on Lamar Miller and Carlos Hyde in the run game. "We win games by winning the turnover battle, you lose that, you diminish your chances at winning," said Coach Bowers.
The 0-5 Dolphins will host the 1-3 Buffalo Bills next week in a game that Bowers hopes to come out on top to prove he is the right man for the job. There is still pletny of time for the Dolphins to turn their season around, but they cannot afford many more losses. Coach Bowers will have 4 games before the bye week, they will re-evaluate the team during that week to see what Bowers has in store.
The Bears Offense was outscored by the Bears Defense 7-0 and still managed to win on the road vs the NY Jets.
Kicker Robbie Gould added 2 field goals to give the Bears the final score of 13 points.
The Bears defense pretty much single handily won this ballgame.
Stopping 2 drives with an interception, including one on the Jets last drive.
Jets QG Geno Smith was seemingly sacked to end the Jets hope but he managed to break free and deliver a pass.
However the delay in the pass due to the pressure allowed CB Jennings to pick the ball off to seal the Bears win.
The Bears Offense has been sub par to say the least and things just got worse.
RB Matt Forte broke his collarbone in the game and is expected out 7 weeks.
The Bears Offense had a measly 125 yards on the day.
80 yards rushing and 45 yards passing.
Yes... 45 yards passing.
The Jets were a tad better with a total of 215 yards including 59 rushing yards and 156 passing yards.
Earlier today the Bears signed RB Darius Reynaud who filled in after the injury to Forte.
When asked Coach Gooden did say Reynaud would more than likely be the week 4 starter.
49ers FLIP CARDINALS WORLD UPSIDE DOWN
Turnovers plague Cardinals in first divisional game against 9'ers
In a game that Carson Palmer, as well as the rest of the Cardinals faithful, would rather soon forget, the 49ers essentially took the Cardinals to the woodshed. A 2nd quarter injury that kept Palmer from returning to the game probably saved him from having a career worst day. After the veteran QB tossed 3 1st half interceptions, Drew Stanton was inserted into the game, and although he didn't fare much better, he did keep Arizona close.
Both defenses looked stellar, but San Francisco showed why they're leading the league in generating turnovers. After Palmer threw the ball to the wrong team on the 3rd play of the game, SF took it down to Arizona's 1 yard line before being held by Larry Foote and the rest of the Cardinals Defense to a FG.
The 2nd quarter showed the teams seemingly trading TO's, but the 9'ers didn't want to continue that battle, obviously Drew Stanton and the Cardinals did, as he threw his first interception to stop a game tying drive in the Red Zone with less than 2 minutes to half. The 49ers capitalized catching an obviously shocked Cardinals D off guard for a 69 yard bomb to go into the half up 17-6.
After a Colin Kaepernick interception to Tony Jefferson started out the 3rd quarter, Arizona was seemingly in business, But the Cards could only muster a FG out of the deal. They did score a TD on a 7 yard pass to Andre Ellington later in the quarter, but after a missed 2 point conversion the Cardinals were still down 17-12, and it remained that way until late in the fourth quarter until Patrick Willis took his second interception of the day 49 yards to paydirt, putting Arizona's bid to be the first team to play a home game in the SuperBowl in jeopardy.
The Cardinals go into their bye week with a 1-2 record, then travel to Denver for what's sure to be a showdown with Peyton Manning and the Broncos, in the words of 1st year coach Rock Rightfoot "It doesn't get any easier from here" Indeed it doesn't Rock.
After such a hot start for Chiefs offense, much sizzled after Patton threw his first pick. The Jets would hammer the Chiefs defense and never look back until the end of the game. Chiefs somehow managed to stay close despite the 34 points allowed. Chiefs defense finally came through huge on two drives late in the 4th. Chiefs would make quick work of it and get in the redzone. After being sacked, QB Mustafaa Patton had to be carted off which turned out to be a broken collarbone. Tyler Bray came in and threw on his first play in. It was his only pass and went 9 yards to Dwayne Bowe for the game winning touchdown.
"It sucks, it really does. To be achieving what we have, and to miss the rest of the regular season, it just sucks," said Patton on his regular season ending injury. "If we do in fact make the playoffs, I will be on the top of my game, I promise you that." Patton has had his share of injuries this season and this is just terrible to see for such a young player. Luckily, the Chiefs have another young QB in Bray. Bray filled in last season for an injured Smith and managed to lead them to the playoffs and now he is in that situation again. The one game he started this season, he was absolutely lights out, we look for him to shine in this spot.
The Colts have lost some close games this season and looked lost at 2-3. Andrew Luck and the offense is finally shining, but the defense just cannot get stops needed to win. This was a much needed win to get back to .500. The Colts started the game off hot with Luck throwing a touchdown to Hilton then picking off a pass and scoring off the legs of Bradshaw to take an early 14-0 lead. Things slowed way down until Vonte Davis did a pick six as Chargers were in the redzone, making the game 21-7. Chargers would end up scoring sending it into halftime 21-14. Chargers quickly scored and tied it up 21-21. The Colts defense finally came through with some big stops and some key turnovers and never let San Diego score again. The final score ends 42-21.
Luck once again looked sharp despite some first half jitters. He torched Seattle last week at home and ended up shining in the 2nd half as Indy moves to 3-3 and is at the top of the divison. Colts look to head into division games and get a bigger lead and seal the deal as the season gets further. If the defense can figure things out, Colts are in great shape as the offense has been lights out.
-- Kansas City
After Kansas City went to Oakland and grabbed the win to take the division lead, their bye week gave them a much needed rest. Hosting Oakland, they looked a tiny bit rusty after a great 1st quarter. The game should have started 14-0 as a pick six by Brandon Flowers was called back on a holding. Chiefs would only get 3 out of the turnover. Their defense fell apart right before half and the score was 21-20. Whatever happened at half worked out as Chiefs allowed only 6 second half points. They only scored one touchdown, but the sucessful 2 pt conversion was the biggest part of the second half. Late in the game, Oakland brought in Tim Tebow to replace Stafford and Tebow missed a wide open crucial 3rd down in which Okaland then decided to kick the FG to make it a 1 pt game instead of going for it. Charles would march the ball as usual and get enough first downs to end the game.
"The defense has been lights out in 2nd half all season long, they need to do it in the first half as well, luckily our offense is keeping up." Coach Bowers sounds pleased but is eager for more. They have a two game lead now on the division and hope to finish strong despite some poor first half defensive play.
--Kansas City
After a crushing loss to the Bears last week, Chiefs needed to re-establish their game and get back on track. This was the perfect game to do that as they were tied with their division rival, Oakland Raiders. The Kansas City defense came up strong and got the ball back for their offense in which Jamaal Charles took the first offensive play of the game for Kansas City to the house. Oakland answered right back with their series of scores and Kansas City had to keep pumping the scoreboard. Rookie Patton was absolutely flawless in this victory and was player of the game.
Patton was on rhythm the whole game with his receivers and it showed. He finished with over 370 yards passing, 5 total touchdowns, 4 coming from the air. Hankerson caught his first touchdown of the season when two Oakland players collided on a deep pass. Bowe now has 7 TDs this season with 2 from this game. For Hunter, another 100 yard game and a touchdown as well.
The Chiefs head into their bye week with a solid win and more importantly, a division lead. After the bye, Kansas City hosts Oakland and look to go up even more in the division. If the defense does not improve, it will be another slobber knocker and Kansas City's offense will have to be flawless again. "Patton is special, this kid has it," said coach Bowers after the win.
--Kansas City
After a victory over 3-0 Titans last week, Chiefs headed to Buffalo to face a hot team. Sitting at 4-0, the Bills have showed dominance and Chiefs knew they needed to win the turnover battle. However, this was not the case. Kansas City, shockingly, turned the ball over 4 times to the Bills 1. Luckily, key drops and tough defense saved the day for the Chiefs. They met Buffalo with physical play in the second half and limited them to 7 points. Kansas City was limited to just 3 second half points but luckily they were ahead 21-14 at the half.
As mentioned, Bills made some key mistakes that would lead to their loss in this game. At least two dropped touchdowns, an interception, a key 3rd down that was not converted, and, the most important, a missed FG cost the Bills. Chiefs stared the 1st half hot with Patton dominating the defense. He started to get the nerves built up and threw 3 picks. This game showed Kansas City that turnovers will not win them games if the other team executes. Kansas City heads to Chicago next week to face a struggling Bears team. If they turn the ball over like they did this game, Bears could pull the upset. It will be interesting to watch.
--Kansas City
The rematch Titans have been waiting for comes up just short of revenge. Last season, Chiefs handled Titans in the regular season and in the playoffs. This game started with Kansas City getting the opening score on a very impressive drive. The game continued to go Kansas City's way and they never fell behind. The game was another boosting point for Patton. He not only threw well but ran the ball tremendously. Patton did get hit hard again and went out for a few plays which has to be worrying Kansas City. One of the breakout players on this team is WR Justin Hunter. He was 1 yard shy of another 100 yard game, but did score. He continues to shine and looks to become the dominant WR he is capable of.
The biggest stat difference was the turnover margin. Kansas City once again forced pressure, gaining multiple sacks and picks. Patton only had 1 interception but did fumble as well. Despite the two turnovers. The game was still in control. Kansas City has shown that winning the turnover battle is key in winning. They have hardly had any and if they continue to limit them, they can win and win big.
--Green Bay
After losing to Denver week 1, Green Bay came out out of the gates firing on all cylinders. Eddie Lacy had some great runs that set up Rodgers for the pass game. Lacy had one run where he was hit at the line, fought through, spun around and took off for 58 yards. Green Bay did get behind 13-10 right before half but managed to get a score to WR Jordy Nelson to make it 17-13. The second half was all about the defense. They forced an interception and two fumbles. Lacy would finish with 139 yards on 22 carries with 1 touchdown.
Green Bay secondary looks great and if they can keep this momentum, they will be hard to stop with their high powered offense. "Defense wins games, simple," Coach Bowers said after the game. It seems that with the peices already in place for offense, Green Bay focused on the defensive side this offseason and it is showing.
With Bray getting the start last week and puttin up impressive numbers, critics questioned Patton getting the immediate start after injury. However, Patton shut them up quick. He did look a little rusty with some missed throws, but managed the game as well as any rookie could. He never forced the ball and did not turn the ball over which is huge. He only threw 16 times completing 9 of them. He had no touchdowns either as most scores came from the rushing attack.
The defense lacked last week vs Lions but came out with a vengance this game. They held New England in check with 0 points in the first half and only 14 in the second, 7 coming from a mircale from WR Amendola. They forced 5 turnovers, 4 picks and 1 fumble. Rookie QB Glass just forced too many balls to keep New England in the game, Chiefs defense was all over the field and it showed. The defense has been stellar so far even against the Lions, even though they did not show up until the 2nd half.
Charles was not the big rusher today as Kniles Davis took over for 13 of the carries and went over 100 yards with it before breaking his collarbone. "Sad to see such a young kid having a career game go out like that, not fair at all," said Coach Bowers after the game. With the game in such favor of Kansas City, Charles stopped getting carries in the 3rd and completely came out in the 4th. "Charles means too much to this team, injuries are very much apart of this game, he understands," said Bowers.
If this Kansas City team can force takeaways while limiting their own turnovers, they can be deadly. This game showed it. The game got out of hand quick when they started getting takeaways. With Patton taking his time and taking sacks, he keeps the opposition from gaining short fields. It will be interesting to see if he can keep this up as about every veteran QB is stuggling with turnovers.

In breaking news this morning, Jim Irsay has left ownership of the colts. The buyer, Leon Sandcastle. Sandcastle was one, if not, the best player to play the game. He left the game and takes over one of the most prestigious NFL teams. He has youth, he has a franchise QB, he has taken control of a very great organization.
"I approached Irsay to talk about ownership when he was unhappy with last season and was tired of the game." Sandcastle went on to say that Irsay had a hefty asking price but was ready to get out of the spotlight and enjoy the games by sitting back. We will miss crazy Irsay and his twitter madness but Sandcastle is one interesting character and will add to this organization.
"Being a former cornerback, I want us to focus on the one thing we lack, defense," said Sandcastle. Our offense is locked and loaded, once we get the defense under control, we can win it all. I bought this team to make champions, like me. I will put every penny I have into making this organization even better. It is to be noted that Sandcastle has been asked by the NFL to sport a professional look. He has since shaved his facial hair and mustache, he has a striking resemblance to Hall of Famer, Deion Sanders.

With QB Mufastaa Patton out, Tyler Bray steps in as the starter. The game opened up with a huge WR reverse for a touchdown by Calvin Johnson. Kansas City would quickly answer as Bray led them down the field and Charles finishing strong with a touchdown. The game would start to favor Detroit and before too long, Detroit was up big. Kansas City would wind up scoring a touchdown from Bray to Bowe. The next series, CB Cooper and CB Smith would guard tight on WR Johnson on an out route where Cooper came up with a crucial pick. The very next play resulted in a bomb from Bray to Bowe for 69 yards. With the score 31-28 Lions, Kansas City amped up the defense once Detroit crossed the 50. Bringing the pressure, Stafford got hit as he was throwing to a wide open Johnson and the ball landed right in the hands of the best corner of the field, Brandon Flowers. Flowers would return it 74 yards for the touchdown and give Kansas City its first lead of the game at 35-31. As tough as Detroit tried to score, the pressure once again got to Stafford as Hali recorded his 7th sack of the season through 2 games. Detroit would ultimately kick the FG but never able to stop Charles from gaining first downs to end the game.
"Bray was impressive, but Patton shined throughout, he is our starter," said Coach Bowers when asked if Bray earned his spot back. Bray is an excellent guy for the Chiefs to have as backup. With Patton being mobile, injury is very likely. Today showed how Bray could handle himself when the Chiefs need him. The defense was a little deflated but Bray made up for it with over 350 yards and 3 touchdowns. Next week, Chiefs head to New England where Patton will resume under center. The defense better show up next week otherwise Kansas City could lose its short lead on the division quick.
