The Browns have made a push the last 4 weeks going 4-0 by outscoring their opponents by an average of 40-21. This has been made possible by cutting down on turnovers wehre the Browns have only committed 3 in the last 4 games and have caused 9. This has been due in large part to a qb change moving veteran Jason Campbell to qb1. This was a necessity due to an injury to Weeden and Campbell has made the most of his time under center completing 74% of his passes for 9 tds with only 2 int. This is a huge step up from Weeden's 10-12 td to int ratio that he put up.
But let's be honest, this team is led by Lamar Miller on the ground. He is leading SHO in yards (1868) and tds (26). He is on pace to break the all time rushing and td records this season. He has accomplished all this even with a 31 yard performance in a simm game earlier vs. the Bengals that is the one game difference between the Bengals and Browns atop the NFC North.
On defense the Browns have been led by the emergence of Jamar Taylor who is second on the team in picks with 4. He is becoming the type of player management thought he would be when they traded for him (cough cough-- STOLE him from the Dolphins in a deal that also brought Lamar Miller and a 1st rd pick to Cleveland all for TnotsoRich) in the offseason. FA pickup Richard Marshall leads the team in picks with 5 and has been a solid performer the last few weeks. Unknown linebackers Craig Robertson, Jabaal Sheard, and Trevardo Williams (who was brought in to help replace Mingo in another great trade by management that brought the Bears #1 pick and the Bengals #1 pick in as well) have all been solid. The big difference in this defense has come from the Dline. With RUbin being moved inside and OLB Paul Kruger stepping in at de, the dline has been much improved.
Have the Browns done enough to make the playoffs? That remains to be seen. Nobody thought with all the moves they made to rebuild throught this year's draft that they would be close; but they are in the hunt. With a favorable schedule the last quarter of the year, the Browns will be favorites in every game but one. The much anticipated game vs. the AFC leading Jets which has a lot of backstory dating back a couple years when Allohio owned the Saints and Nicky owned the Falcons... Tricky owes Ohio a few beatings for all the ones he got that year, but the Browns are not looking past the uber talented (players) Patriots and a game vs. the Bears before this game against the Jets. The Browns need to win out in order to have a chance at the playoffs and they are going to do everything they can to make that possible.
