Trade News

The Steelers have traded Zach Mettenberger to the Cowboys for a 2016, 3rd round pick and a 2017, 7th round pick. The decision was made after the Steelers signed Ben Roethlisburger to a two year deal. It was apparent Zach would get little or no playing time, Mike Tomlin said: "It seems to be a waste of talent to see Zach ride the pine, he's a special talent the timing just wasn't right." The Steeler wish nothing but the best for Zach at his new team.

Steelers Survive Last Minute Comeback

The Pittsburg Steelers survived a fourth quarter air assault by the Geno Smith and the New York Jets. The Steeler started out with a Troy Polamalu first quarter pick six. The Steelers seemed to live off of turnovers in this game as at time the offense was as anemic and an Ethiopian child. The late first quarter 39 yard Shaun Suisham field goal to put the Steeler up by 10.

The Jets Responded early in the Second Quarter with a John Potter 45 yarder to inch closer 3-10. After a failed redzone attempt the Steelers settled for an 18 yard chip shot to stretch the lead again 3-13. The Jets quickly responded with a Potter 38yard Field Goal with no time on the clock to end the half 6-13.

The Jets took the opening Kickoff and turned the ball over on a Cortez Allen Interception. The short field helped the Steelers as they got a glimmer of offense and capped the drive with a 28 yard TD reception to newly acquired LaMichael James to make it 6-20 with 6:25 left in the third quarter.  The Jets continued to move the ball but were plagued by sacs including 5 from LaMarr Woodley, 3 from Jason Worilds, 1 each from Alameda Ta’amu and Ricky Sapp throughout the game. Forced fumbles were an issue too with 1 each from Worild, Woodley, Allen and Rookie Shamarko Thomas.  The Steelers started the ground and pound conservative offense to milk the clock. This conservative approach almost cost the Steelers in the end.  The Jets were desperate with a third and forever after a sac but Geno Smith connected with TE Travis Beckum. A couple broken tackles and Beckum scored on the 55 yard pass with 1:58 on the clock. The Jets got what they needed and recovered the onside kick. Geno was on the move again with a timely scramble for a first down and a contested late hit out of bounds by Lawrence Timmons that wasn’t called. Geno didn’t need it away as moments later he found WR Laurent Robinson in the endzone. With 25 second on the clock the call to “Go For It” came in, Larry Foote stuffed the rushing attempt up the middle and the miraculous comeback was over.. The Jets were looking for lighting in a bottle again but, the onside attempt was recovered by Markus Wheaton, one QB kneel and the game was over. The Pittsburg Steelers owner was quoted as saying “What a wild ride”! Mike Tomlin said; “The ball bounces a funny way, today it bounced our way and we’re blessed with the win.”

Great Game Jets!  Hope you enjoyed the recap!

The 49ers owner was quoted as saying "Good Business". The Steelers owner was quoted as saying "Lamichael has some raw talent that could someday take him to the Pro Bowl. It's our job to develop him and give him the shot he deserves to make a difference in the USFL."

Battle of Undefeated Teams!

NFC/AFC Collides

The Pittsburgh Steelers will visit the Minnesota Viking at Mall of America Field. This is a pivotal battle for supremacy and could have home field implications later in the season. Both teams are respectably ranked 4 & 5 on the power rankings, you can throw that all out at the opening kickoff. It's Adrian Peterson's league leading rushing vs. Ben Roethlisburger's league leading passing attack. Something Hasta Give!!!... It might come down to home field advantage as the Steelers visit one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL.

This is a great matchup even after Slandergate and the allegations of owner Adam Bohr being a Drunk, Verbally Abusive and a "Dirty Thug" This side show doesn't seem to be effecting the teams play as they look primed for a Super Bowl run.

One thing is for sure someone is leaving with a lose!

The Game of the Week doesn't disappoint!

The Game of the week lived up to it's hype with 7 lead changes as the Tennessee Titans visited Heinz Field. The first quarter only provided a 45 yard field goal by Shaun Suisham as both teams struggled with turnovers against great defenses throughout the game.

The Titans responded in the second with a 12 yard strike to Tight End Delanie Walker to make it 3-7.

After a Ben Roethlisburger interception late in the second quarter. The Titans were driving inside two minute until Troy Polamalu's 68yard pick 6 to end the half at 10-7.

The explosive plays were far from over as Jeff Demps took the opening Kickoff 99 yards making it 10-14. Chris Rainey not to be bested took the ensuing Kickoff 108 yards make it 17-14.

After a fumble in field goal range by Chris Johnson the Steelers were on the move again.  Ben Roethlisburger found Rookie Markus Wheaton in tight coverage for a 28yard TD putting the Steelers up 24-14. That changed quickly as Jeff Demps wasn't finished leaving his mark on the game as he took the ensuing Kickoff 102 yards! This brought the Titans within 3 at 24-21. After a stalled drive and a Drew Butler punt inside the twenty. The Titans drove the length of the field and capped the drive with a 4 yard TD scamper by Chris Johnson. This late score recaptured the lead for the Titans at 24-28 and 1:41 left on the clock. The Steeler went into the hurry up offense with two time outs remaining. After driving inside the red zone and using the remaining time outs Ben Roethlisburger found Antonio Brown in the ends zone for the go ahead score with less then a minute in the game.

Choosing not to temp fate with Jeff Demps waiting, the Steelers squib the kickoff. This gave the Titans a short field which they used to their advantage.  The Titans quickly got within long filed-goal range only to get sacked by Lamar Woodley taking them back out of field goal range. With limited time on the clock the Titans moved back into long field goal range. The tying field goal attempt by Caleb Sturgis was long enough but wide left to end the game.

In closing, two great teams and an awesome game. Look out USFL both these teams create turnovers and can move the ball! This is a recipe for victory! See you on the Gridiron!
