4 Games in and Big Changes for the Giants

New Players, New Coach, New Regime

We are 4 games through the season, and the Giants sit with a 2-2 record. Surprisingly, after just a 1-2 start for Sean Payton, he's been fired and replaced. This move was made after Coach Timmy Tebow Jr, who won a Super Bowl as the Giants Head Coach just a few years ago (before disappearing to a foreign land), became the new Owner of the New York Giants. Tim Tebow Jr hired a familiar face in Reilly Hollis Jr, Uncle of Shitskins starting Quarterback, Reilly Hollis. (The Hollis family has a tradition of naming all their boys 'Reilly', resulting in some very confusing family trees.) Once Coach Hollis was in, things really started to change for the Giants.

From 1-2 to 2-2

Coach Hollis was able to get his first win of his career over the Washington Shitskins and more importatnly, over his little nephew. The final was 19-16 in an overtime thriller that was back and forth all the way through. At halftime it was 3-3 as the squads traded field goals, and the Giants went into the 4th down 6-3. Then the game started to heat up. After some more field goals, a strip sack byt the Giants that resulted in a fumble return for touchdown, and a beautiful touchdown drive by the Redskins, the game went to overtime where each team had a chance to score, but ended with a Giant field goal.

Giants' Impact Players

Rookie Evan Keasey went 27-46 for 272 yards and an interception. Not the most efficient game from him, but with a new staff and system, we think he did pretty well to adjust. Rookie halfback Perry Marion has a solid day with 17 rushes going to 79 yards, though he is no longer with the team (we'll get to that later.) No receiver had huge impacts as Keasey spread it around well, as Perriman, Anderson, Waller, and Marion all had 5+ receptions and 50+ receiving yards. On defense, there were 9 sacks split between multiple players, but the biggest play of the day was the strip-sack by 2nd year defensive end Delray Hebert and the scoop-and-score by fellow 2nd year defensive end Philip Aldridge.

Timmy Tebow Jr's First Big Move

The new Owner/GM did not wait long to make his impact felt on this roster, after a win over the Shitskins, he called up the Rams and brought over one of the best running backs in the NFL, Todd Gurley. Rumor has it conversations began between the 2 organizations about the Giants' rookie WR Jaylin Vernon, and then talks grew. The Rams asked the asking price on Eli Apple, who many throught was not a tradable asset. After it was all said an done, the deal was finalized as Todd Gurley, a 2019 1st Round Pick, and a 2019 2nd Round pick for the Giants' rookie halfback Perry Marion, rookie wideout Jaylin Vernon, and cornerback Eli Apple. This completely changes the Giants roster, and rumors about starting quarterback Evan Keasey and others being talked about on the market as well. We were going to outline the Giants depth chart today, but we will wait just one more week to see if the Giants' trade talks calm first.

Next Up

Next week, the Giants are scheduled to face a Carolina Panthers team that's had a slow start to the season, but has a lot of talent. We'll be back next week with an update on the game and trade talks. Until then, keep on rooting for YOUR NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS.

2014: Week 1 Update

Hey fellas,

We are in Week 1 of the Regular Season of the SGC PS4 League, and next advance is scheduled for Tuesday night at 10:00PM Eastern. With that said, we could advance TONIGHT or MONDAY NIGHT if all games are completed early. 5 games have been played so far, and the remaining games are mesko7 vs CPU, toast49 vs CPU, MrGritsNGravy vs CPU, manEATgod vs CPU, Emperor5353 vs CPU, and our GAME OF THE WEEK. Speaking of the GotW, let's break it down:

GAME OF THE WEEK:
WILLIAMS_5908's Denver Broncos VS brundog's Kansas City Chiefs
Really a great game to open the year. WILLIAMS is a newish member of ours, and I'm sure he's ready to prove that he belongs among the elite of the SGC. On the other hand, brundog is a long-time member who has proven season after season that he's a hell of a player. Oh, did I mention he won it all last year?

Offense:
At the Quarterback position, you've got Denver's Peyton Manning facing off against Kansas City's young stud Tyler Bray. In terms of ability, I obviously have to give the advantage to Manning. Manning has incredible talent, and though Bray has some great physical tools, he's not close to that level yet. With that said, I think Bray will actually have a more efficient day due to this guy named Jamaal Charles. Similar to Manning being years ahead of Bray in terms of ability, Chief's Jamaal Charles is far more talented than the Broncos' Ben Tate, or any of the other backs they have. Charles will command a lot of this offense, and he should be able to break off some big gains. Both teams have quality offensive line play, though I think Denver has a very slight edge due to depth. Denver and Kansas City are also pretty even on their tight ends. Denver has more players that will make plays in the passing game, but the Chiefs' are effective in the pass and run game for a more balanced attack. Kansas City has really nice depth at wide receiver as they're about 4-5 deep at the position, but you have to give the overall edge to Denver just because of the amount of plays we can expect D.T. and Welker to make.

Defense:
It's hard to judge and balance these due to the scheme difference of the defenses in this game, but I'll do my best. The biggest difference I'm noticing on the defensive lines in this game are that the Chiefs line will not let you run the ball, while it appears the Broncos' will not be stuffing most runs. That's a big deal with Jamaal Charles ready to make a statement. The Broncos have some nice young potential in their linebacking core, and of course Von Miller is a stud, but they just can't match Kansas City's Houston, Hali, Johnson, and depth at the position. There's no difference in the secondary either. The Chief's possess and elite secondary, while the Broncos is about average.

I think it will be a better game, but I think turnovers lose this one for the Broncos as they have a tough road game to start the season.

27-17 Chiefs

Good luck to all this week!

Thanks,
Nort

2015 Playoffs: Little Late, but Still Here

It's a bit late, but I've got your highlights to the SGC playoffs all coming to you now! For those who have forgotten about what happened before this point, here's a link to the beginning of playoffs: http://simgamingcommunity.freeforums.org/2015-playoffs-it-s-getting-heated-t2911.html. We're in the divisional round, and as discussed in the previous article the NFC #1 Seed 49ers and the #2 Seed Patriots have moved on.

DIVISIONAL ROUND continued
Image
Divisional Round: Eagles at Vikings
See that picture above? Those are the guys to watch on these two teams. Adrian Peterson had a monster season, and he continued his big season with a big game in this divisional round game. He just took the ball over and over again with 29 carries, almost 2 football fields worth of yardage (192 yards), and a couple of touchdowns. Mallet didn't have a big game, but he did just enough with Peterson controlling the game on the ground. With Peterson taking all the yardage, the receivers didn't manage to have a big day with none over 60 yards, but they did what they needed to. The Viking D let up a lot yardage, but 5 sacks and 3 critical interceptions made all that irrelevant. Even in the loss, Shady McCoy needs to be proud of his performance. 11 carries for 145 yards leaves one left asking why he wasn't given the rock a bit more to control the game like AP did. Foles actually slung it pretty well (20-27, 328 yards), but 3 interceptions against a Viking team that knows how to capitalize is a quick way to lose a game. With the Vikings playing the game safe on the ground, the Eagles defense was only able to pull off 1 sack and 1 interception, which is not great due to the Vikings' defensive performance.

Divisional Round: Colts at Oilers
Unfortunately the Oilers Coaching, Ownership, and Management decided to let the team go into their game alone, which led Andrew Luck and the Colts to roll over Tennessee, 42-24.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Image
NFC Championship: Vikings at 49ers
This one looked to be close in the pre-game, but by the end there was no doubt the 49ers deserved to be in the Superbowl. Kaepernick continues to find ways to be both efficient and explosive. 13/17 for 217 and 3 touchdowns is about as good as you get out of a quarterback in a game vs a quality Vikings defense that had Foles throwing to players in purple jerseys the previous week. James, Hunter, and Lattimore all contributed in the running game as usual, with LMJ leading the team with 87 yards rushing. Vernon Davis only had 4 catches, but his 2 touchdowns made those catches count. The 49ers defense was absolutely dominant (is anyone surprised?) They forced 4 interceptions and had Lemonier had a forced fumble for a total of 5 turnovers. An extra bit of credit needs to go to Patrick Willis with 9 tackles as we was all over the field, and he was a big reason AP didn't have a huge day. Adrian Peterson has made a season of 150+ yard days, but McNuggler made it a point to put that to an end as the Viking star didn't hit 100 yards on the day. Even then, Peterson wasn't the Vikings' problem, Mallet was. It was a terrible day for the quarterback who completed less than 50% of his passes with 4 interceptions. We always knew the Vikings had a killer run game, but when they had to lean heavily on the pass it lead to 3 points and a loss.

Image
AFC Championship: Colts at Patriots
The Patriots won this game by a score of 30-21, but you would have expected a bigger victory with Andrew Luck's day. 17 of 29 for 236 yards and a touchdown is pretty effective, and usually would help your win to a victory. Unfortunately, he threw 5 interceptions which really hurt the Colts ability to run a fluent offense. On the other side, Murray wasn't as reckless as Luck, but still had 2 interceptions with his lone touchdown pass. Both teams ran the ball effectively as Chris Johnson continued his big year for the Patriots, rushing for 140 yards and a couple of touchdowns. We're surprised the Colts didn't run the ball more with the game so close. Turbin and Ballard combined for 93 yards off 16 carries, and with more commitment to the run he may have limited turnovers and controlled the game. For Indy, Reggie Wayne had 6 catches for 80 yards on his final game of his career, and even with a loss it's nice to see him productive until the end. Surprisingly, Riley Cooper was the top receiver for the Pats with just under 80 yards and a touchdown. In the end, New England's defense made enough big plays to take home the win and win a trip to the big game.

SGC Super Bowl: Patriots vs 49ers
Congrats to McNuggler's San Francisco 49ers for his 27-13 win over keno911's New England Patriots. I can't access stats on DaddyLeagues/Connected Career Website, so that's all I have for now.

Next up: Offseason Update

2014-02-07

Playoff Update? We have you covered!

For those of you who have been living under a rock, the SGC playoffs have been LOADED with action from both sides! The Weak AFC (YEA I'M STILL SAYING IT) have really had some great games, and some surprises too, so we'll start off there!

WILDCARD ROUND
Image
Wild Card Round: Dolphins at Browns
http://daddyleagues.com/sgc/gamerecap/178478
Many of us, including myself, were penciling in the Dolphins to move on to the next round. I mean c'mon, we all know Carlitos reputation in these parts. He makes every game into a close one, and usually has the skills to run you down until there's nothing left. I'm here to tell you, this weezul93 fellow is here to PLAY. The Browns under Weezul have become a force, especially with Trent Richardson running the ball. Richardson didn't have a huge game, but those 21 carries for 62 yards did the trick. Then you can take this other 3 backs going 6 for 21, and you've got a pretty good rushing day vs a Carlitos caliber defense. Weeden may have been even more impressive with 18/24 for 338 and a touchdown. Incredibly efficient for a quarterback many of us would mock (even though he is already 32)! Eric Decker did him a big favor pulling in 4 catches for 144 yards and the lone passing touchdown of the day. The stats say it all for our dear veteran Carlitos. 3 interceptions with Tannehill and no player over 25 yards rushing is killer. No interceptions or forced fumbles to counter his interceptions, and you can call it a day. Congrats to Weezul on putting his mark on the league, and Carlitos, we all know you'll at least beat keno in the division next year.

Wild Card Round: Panthers at Buccaneers
http://daddyleagues.com/sgc/gamerecap/178477
Ugh... this one just puts a bad taste in my mouth. Taking my NFC South from me... oh wait this is about the game. NFC SOUTH REMATCH BABY! These two teams battled it out all year as the top teams in the division, and John's Buccaneers came away with it. But when it came down to playoffs, the Panthers under Brundog were able to pull out a big win. Unlike the previous game, this one is between two long-time veterans who know the ropes by now. They've gone blow for blow over a few seasons now, and this one was no different. They begun the battle on a Wednesday night I believe, only to have the game rescheduled due to angry Miami Dolphin fans swarming the Tampa Bay stadium... we still haven't figured out why they were there. They threw aside everything from the night before, and restarted the match the following night. Mike Glennon wasn't himself though. With 4 interceptions, under 50% complete and under 100 yards, it just wasn't his night. Doug Martin did what he could on the ground for the Buccs, and while effective, he couldn't carry the team himself. On the other side, Newton didn't have a huge night, but he was efficient and didn't do anything to cost his team a win. The backs Barner and Best were very effective, and strangely enough Tebow did some work on the ground too (he's still around...?) Both teams had no receivers over 50 yards, as they spread the ball around to everyone. The Panthers were able to pull it out 38-14 this week, but the Buccaneers will get their chance to avenge themselves come next season in the toughest division in football.

It was a cold... wait... these are two owners (Redhawk/Sombrerokush) who played CPU teams. Yea they won, we get it. MOVING ON!

DIVISIONAL ROUND

...is that bad luck for Gronk?
Divisional Round: Browns at Patriots
http://daddyleagues.com/sgc/gamerecap/180487
The Browns really established themselves with a big win last week against a Dolphins team that has a great reputation, and then come to face a Patriots team that has some kind of reputation, but I'm not sure exactly what that is. I'm trying to break down how the Browns lost this game by 32, but I'm just not seeing it. Weeden went 8/13 for 137, 1 touchdown, and no interceptions, and his backs went 24 for 100 on the ground without a fumble. When it comes down to it, it looks like Browns didn't need to make a mistake in this one, as the Patriots just controlled the ball all game long. Murray had a big day off his injury making big plays off only 8 completions. With 229 yards and 3 touchdowns, the Patriots were thrilled to have him back. He was throwing bombs all day with an 83 yard touchdown to Gronk, a 49 yard touchdown to Holliday, and a 50 yard touchdown to Beckham. Looks to me like the Browns secondary didn't give much respect to these receivers, and they just went straight over the top. CJ has been the consistent player he's been all year with 16 carries for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns as well. Not a lot of big defensive impacts in this one, just a clean game that the Patriots were able to capitalize on quickly with big plays. Many of us believe Weezul will find himself in the AFC playoffs next year as well after a big offseason, and we'll be watching closely. As for the Patriots, they haven't blown their playoffs like they normally do yet, but hey, there's always next week.

Divisional Round: Panthers at 49ers
http://daddyleagues.com/sgc/gamerecap/180486
Up until about week 16, this game was a lock for the 49ers after such an incredible season. But then... the Panthers beat them in the regular season. Putting the first loss on the record, and opening the eyes of a lot of people. With that said, I don't think the 49ers were too happy about that, and it appears they learned from the game earlier in the year. I can't find a problem with the gameplan the 49ers came into this game with. Kaepernick was incredible. 16 of 18 for 321 and 3 touchdowns (no interceptions) was both efficient and big-time play. The 49ers can run the ball too, who knew? The 3 backs in the stable combined for 22 carries for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns, which is pretty damn good. Greg Childs had the biggest impact in the receiving core with 135 yards and a touchdown, while Patton and LMJ both had over 60 and a score as well. They were able to get pressure on CAM, and ultimately come up with 5 sacks and even more pressures than that, which was key as one resulted in a fumble. Cam didn't have a terrible day, but no touchdowns and 1 interceptions was a big problem. Barner was solid with 12 for 46, but no game breaking carries as his longest of the day went for 12 yards. What the Panthers did do very well though, is spread the ball in the passing game. 9 different players caught a pass for Carolina, and one would think having lots of receiving threats would slow down a 9er team that is just beyond stacked on both sides of the ball. But with 1 sack, no interceptions, and no forced fumbles, the Panthers could never get a big play on defense to swing the momentum back in their favor. In the end, McNuggler's 49ers are, and were, the favorite to win the whole thing, and if they play like that I'm not sure who can stop them.

GAMES REMAINING:

Image
Divisional Round: Eagles at Vikings
ADMIN MATCHUP! One of these Reds has to fall this week, and I don't know who it will be. The Vikings have had one of their finer seasons, and as Owner Mutivo has said, finally got over the hump and beat some really impressive squads. On the other side, you've got Redhawk, who many may forget has won a few Superbowls in the SGC. It's a new vs old. Vikings looking to take their game to the next level, while the Eagles looking to get to that level the Bills were on many years ago when they were owned by Redhawk. If I had to pick one, I'd have to go with Mutivo's Vikings. They have a stacked roster all-around, and that Adrian Peterson guy rushed for a few yards this year. I'm not confident no matter who I pick here, but that's what my gut says.

Image
Just pretend it's an Oilers symbol
Divisional Round: Colts at Oilers
Just like the Panthers-Buccaneers matchup we had, these are two teams that were fighting for the crown of their division all year. Both teams have impressed, but I have to go with the model of consistency that the Oilers have shown. They come into each game with a very clear gameplan, and they just go out and execute it. Would it shock me to see a Colts win here? Absolutely not, but just like Eagles-Vikings, I'm going with my gut.

Good luck to everyone!

2015 Week 17 Update: Playoff Picture

Morning! Or Evening! Night! Whatever my schedule is weird and I don't know what to say. We're approaching PLAYOFFS for our SGC PS3 (Non-Fantasy) League. In honor of that, I'd like to write up a little somethin somethin for you all to begin reading, realize you don't care, and swiftly delete from your inbox. With that said, let's begin with the NFC!

NFC
I believe it, so I'm gonna say it. The NFC is absolutely STACKED. With the 49ers week 17 win over the lowly Patriots, they have locked up the #1 seed (NFC West Champion) that comes with a first round bye and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs after a 15-1 season. Congratulations to McNuggler and his obnoxious roster on accomplishing this!

2 games behind him (13-3), the Minnesota Vikings under Mutivo have sneaked past the Buccaneers to take a 1/2 game lead over him for the 2nd seed. While McNuggler has a fantastic roster, Mutivo has Adrian Peterson, which.... to be fair... is about 189 overall these days. With that said, much congrats to him as well.

After the Panthers/Cowboys week 17 losses, the Buccaneers (13-3-1)/Eagles (11-5) have taken control of the South and East respectively, and will snag the #3 and #4 seeds. Well done fellas, especially to John for fighting his way to the top of a NFC South that ended with a 42-19-2 record for the whole division.

For the 5th/6th seed Brundog's 11-4-1 Carolina Panthers will be in one of those two spots. Something to note about that as well is that HB Kenjon Barner WILL be returning from injury that week, which adds a whole variety of things that the Panthers are capable of offensively. For the other 5th/6th, many (including myself) anticipate the St. Louis Rams will fall into that spot with a win over the Lions in week 17. The Rams currently sit at 11-5, so  win would put them in the 5th seed vs the Eagles (Panthers vs Buccaneers), while a loss would have them fall to a tie with the Saints at 11-5 for the 6th seed, and I have no idea how that would work and don't care to look lol. So... here's how we look:

#1: San Francisco 49ers (No Game)
#2: Minnesota Vikings (No Game)
#3: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs Panthers with week 17 Rams win OR vs Rams/Saints with week 17 Rams loss)
#4: Philadelphia Eagles (vs Rams/Saints with week 17 Rams win OR vs Panthers with week 17 Rams loss)
#5: St. Louis Rams / Carolina Panthers
#6: Carolina Panthers / St. Louis Rams / New Orleans Saints

AFC
The AFC is a bit less impressive, but they try, and that's what's important lol. Unfortunately there's no real team "at that top" so I can't line it up like I could for the NFC. Overall, we have the terrible... I meant lowly... well maybe just terrible Patriots (12-4), Titans (11-3), and Chiefs (12-4) all makings bids for the top 2 seeds of the AFC. This puts a lot of importance on the Bills-Titans matchup scheduled for tomorrow.

The Browns are locked in for the 4th seed at 11-5, and champions of the AFC North, and that will match them up with the 5th seed Miami Dolphins who are also 11-5. This should be a good matchup as both teams have stayed relatively under the radar, but could really come out and surprise some people. Congrats on your playoff birth, and good luck in this game to both Weezul and Carlitos.

For the 6th seed, the Indianapolis Colts (10-6) under Sombrero have had some adversity, but fought there way into a playoff spot. with a Titans loss in week 17, it would be an AFC South matchup here in the 1st round. If the Titans win, then the Colts could be facing the Patriots, Titans, or Chiefs. I'll try to line it up lol.

#1: Titans/Patriots/Chiefs (No Game)
#2: Titans/Patriots/Chiefs (No Game)
#3: Titans/Patriots/Chiefs (vs Colts)
#4: Cleveland Browns (vs Dolphins)
#5: Miami Dolphins (at Browns)
#6: Indianapolis Colts (at Titans/Patriots/Chiefs)

IF I MESSED UP ANY OF THAT PLAYOFF STUFF, JUST LET ME KNOW. IT'S VERY POSSIBLE
