Season 85 Mock Draft #1

Hello Everyone,

              I’m back and ready to start the mock drafts.  So, here is the rules to my mock draft:

 

#1 I won’t release a mock draft until Madden does. Whatever Madden projects to be the draft order, I’m going to copy all of them until the VERY last one.  Last mock draft I wrote, people were making trades mid write up. 

#2 I do the BARE MINIMUM amount of research for your picks. 

#3 What I consider a need may not align with your thoughts.  If your ‘starter’ is a 75 or below, I look at dev rating and / or age to determine if they are actual need or not.

#4 Mock draft #1 is top 5, Mock Draft # 2 is top 10, Mock Draft #3 is top 15, Mock draft # 4 is top 20, and the final mock will be all 32 picks.

I’m sure there are other rules, I just don’t quite remember.

Without any further adieu, this is your first mock draft of the… 85^th season.

 

1.       New England Patriots

·             Team Needs: LE, DT, WR, RG

·             Madden Projected Pick: RT – Corey McKinney

·             My Projected Pick: WR – Kevin Weldon

·             Thoughts:  There isn’t much of a choice here. The positions he needs don’t have anyone worth taking and even Weldon maybe a stretch.  If this was the actual draft, he’d be trading out.

2.       Dallas Cowboys

·             Team Needs:  LE, ROLB?, SS, C, RT

·             Madden Projected Pick: LT – Brady Barrett

·             My Projected Pick: ROLB – Derek Thomas

·             Thoughts: I don’t even see LT as a need for the Cowboys right now.  But, the current ‘best’ olb in the draft would be a great day 1 starter for them.

3.       Chicago Bears

·             Team Needs: LOLB, ROLB

·             Madden Projected Pick: ROLB – Derek Thomas

·             My Projected Pick: LOLB – Bobby Day

·             Thoughts: The team with not many needs will grab a nice defensive end to solidify what holes it seemingly has.

4.       Jacksonville Jaguars

·             Team Needs: LE, RE, DT?, WR, TE

·             Madden Projected Pick: RE – Kaseem Wallace

·             My Projected Pick: TE – Stevie Sampson

·             Thoughts: The irony of my projected pick here was last time I did a mock draft, I had a Sampson going at #4, but that was season 80 something, I dunno. We are on to this year.  The Jaguars have a few holes to fill, but this draft will not address most of those needs, except for getting a starting TE, one of the best athletes we’ve seen out there.

5.       Dallas Cowboys

·             Team Needs: LE, ROLB?, SS, C, RT

·             Madden Projected Pick: LT – Aaron Boykin

·             My Projected Pick: RT – Corey McKinney

·             Thoughts: Top 5 OL.  Cowboys have 2 picks in the top 5 and could fill the last need.
