Madden 24 - Potential Trade Targets

by AST1N | 1 year ago | 0 Comments

With Madden 24 just a couple weeks away, you know teams are itching to get their hands dirty and start making moves with their teams. But who should go, and who should buy? Let’s take a look at a handful of guys who should be moved sooner rather than later, either because of cap issues or because of wasted depth at the position:

WR Amari Cooper, Cleveland Browns

29 Years old, 91 OVR

While still an elite player, the Browns have two issues here. Regression is right around the corner with his age, and the fact that the IRL Browns will be -$83M in cap space next season (who knows what Madden will show). Cooper has 2 years left on his deal, and is making $23M each of the next two seasons.

Potential fit: New England Patriots

HB Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns

28 Years old, 97 OVR

See excuses above why he should be on the move. I also believe he could get a premium return out of him as well. $15-16M each of the next two years, and the Browns have to do something.

Potential fit: Minnesota Vikings

WR Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers

31 Years old, 89 OVR

Like the Browns, the Chargers are in trouble with future cap space (-$64M) and Allen’s salary jumps from $12M this year to $34.7M next. With Mike Williams and rookie Quentin Johnston in house, the Chargers can afford to move on.

Potential fit: Tennessee Titans

OLB Khalil Mack, Los Angeles Chargers

32 Years old, 85 OVR

Mack isn’t the same player he was in the past, but he’s still being paid like he is the next two seasons ($16.6M and $38.5M). He is an easy candidate to get out of cap hell, but the return on trading him might not be as high as you hope.

Potential fit: Chicago Bears

HB Dalvin Cook, New York Jets?

27 Years old, 90 OVR

Yes, this is me assuming he signs with the Jets. So why trade him? Because you have 2nd year HB Breece Hall (22 years old, 82 OVR) in house. Sure you can split carries between the two, but how much will that slow the potential progression on Hall? And with Cook on a 1 year deal (assumed), do you want to sign him to an extension? You could probably get some decent picks for Cook, which isn’t a bad tradeoff for a HB in a committee.

Potential fit: Arizona Cardinals

QB Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers – 71 OVR

QB Malik Willis, Tennessee Titans – 66 OVR

I am grouping these two guys in the same boat as they are in the same situation – a strong armed QB who can scoot, who is on a roster who has 3 QB options and is easy to move on from. While neither guy actually NEEDS to be traded, if you can get value for a guy who might not see the field for you, you have to at least explore the option.

Potential fits: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings

HB Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints

28 Years old, 86 OVR

“The Saints are in cap hell for the future.” Tell me you haven’t heard that a billion times. (-$78M next year). Kamara is the top candidate to go here. They have Jamaal Williams and drafted Kendre Miller this past draft. Kamara’s contract is $8M this year, $18.8M next, and $29M! in the 3rd and last year.  Those aren’t ideal for a guy who is about to hit the HB wall.

Potential fits: Chicago Bears

WR Michael Pittman, Indianapolis Colts

25 Years old, 85 OVR

Pittman enters the last year of his contract the same time as other Colts players Kenny Moore, Jonathan Taylor (MAYBE LOL), Grover Stewart, and Julian Blackmon. With the Colts having drafted speedsters Alec Pierce and Josh Downs in back to back drafts, do the Colts want to invest into Pittman as well?

Potential fits: Kansas City Chiefs

MLB Jerome Baker, Miami Dolphins

26 Years old, 80 OVR

The Dolphins picked up Tua’s 5th year option, meaning he is going to be making a shit load of money. They also said “Here Tyreek, take all this money too.” The Dolphins are going to have some money issues after this season, and I wanted to say Tyreek was the top option out of here, but his contract is not structured in a way that he can be moved this season. Tua could be a guy as well, but that’s a risky move. Baker has two years left, is a speedy MLB, and is making $12M and $15M the next two years.

Potential fit: Houston Texans

CB Xavien Howard, Miami Dolphins

30 years old, 84 OVR

As stated, the Dolphins have money issues, and Howard is getting paid too much. He will make $10M, $26M, $22M, and $24M for the next 4 seasons. I am not sure if it is worth it to hold onto now, or do you maximize what you can get before the shit hits the fan.
