Season 78 QB Curuzzle

Field Yates, Bleacher Report

Earlier in my QB series, the importance of QB play is widely known around the league as a centerpiece to your team. The teams who really witness it are the ones who are dire for an upgrade. The most fun part about this is there is a supply/demand issue for this position. This year's draft class a few guys at the top, and then it drops off... HARD. With that in mind, teams will need to consider the following:

1) Can I / Should I stick with what I have currently in house?

2) Will I be in position to draft one of those top 3 draft prospects?

3) Should I be agressive in FA and target one of those guys?

4) Is there anyone worth trading for?

5) Am I going to be able to work with a low-rated, late round graded QB and develop him into something worth while?

With those questions in mind, here are 15 teams that could toy with the idea of a QB change next season

Now with those teams in mind, here is the pool of guys they may look at considering, whether its an Available player (players with 1 year left on their contract currently), those Possibly Available for Trade, or the Drafted Rookies (I am not listing out all the late round pick names, and only speaking on their Projected Round drafted).

With all that in mind, let's take a team by team prediction!

First hot take: I think BP saw enough with Tua and cuts his losses to find "BP's Guy". We see it every cycle. I can see Terry looking for a Tua reunion on the cheap, and then the biggest question would be whether his next contract would follow RZ rules.

Before the season, the Panthers were bottom 3 in cap room available for Season78, thanks to many contracts being pushed into the future (even though their roster should be nowhere near max cap, but that's another story for another day!). Baker is going to ask for more money than Kelly would like to invest for a mid-tier QB, and would prefer to run with a cap-friendly QB like he did with DJ Carter in Atlanta.

Another spicy pick: Adel trades for Aaron Rodgers. I know, I know... the biggest question is can Adel stomach Rodgers as his QB, as a Vikings fan? And to that, I say if he was able to watch Brett Favre in a Vikings uniform, he will be alright. Rodgers with those weapons on offense would be a significant upgrade, and downright scary.

White Greg throws a fit that no one in the top 2 wanted to trade down to him, and settles for the 3rd option. Finds himself with a QB who ends up with a dev anyway, just to watch him lose it the following season when he climbs the fated mountain.

Fits Astin's mold of the ideal QB, and instantly bounces back from his horrendous first season.

I mean, anything is an upgrade at this point. I think he also tries to negotiate his way into pick 1/2, neither guy waivers, and Rfox settles elsewhere. I also think he rolls with a guy like Jimmy G / Wentz / Daniel Jones as he develops the young kid.

As I mentioned earlier, Monty is going to have his phone ringing off the hook, but Fowler will be hard to pass up. If somehow Madden deems them with the 1 seed, then Joe Allen will be his guy. HOWEVER, the Texans are the wildcard here because with so many holes on that team, it would be very hard to pass up multiple firsts to drop back and still get a top 5 player in the draft.

I don't think anyone really loves Mac Jones, including Theo. However, I think Theo looks around the league, sees what his options are outside of the organization, and sticks with what he's got. Not worth the risk (although he could take a late shot at an UDFA guy)

This one is easy. It's Joe Allen or Tim Fowler. And I think Pat is crazy enough to offer a future 1st to move up from 2 to 1 if he misses out.

We've seen Longville's hatred for Jalen Hurts, and I think he tries to find him a new home while he can. I could also see him letting Hurts rot on his bench / play in 3PS games and miss out on his value until his contract expires. Tom would be able to sling it around to his weapons on offense, and he might actually bump his win total up a couple of games.

Howell should have been starting from Day 1. /rant

Spencer also reads the room on the draft, and gets former Alabama QB Jalen Hurts. It's okay Spencer, I will pretend he didn't go to Oklahoma for a year if you want me to.

10-4 with the Saints with Winston. Trent doesn't need to fight off 14 guys when what he has is working.

BP goes and gets his guy.

This is the only move that makes sense to me why Robo kept both guys. If Love wasn't in the plans he should have shipped him away before we started. And maybe he ships Love after falling in love with Rodgers this season. Either way, I think its hard for him to go another year with Love wasting in the background.
