Offensive Rookie of the Year

As we approach the halfway mark through week 2 it seems like a perfect time to take a look at rookies who are making an impact on both sides of the ball. Are the highly touted guys doing what we thought they would? Are there any big surprises? Find out next time on………….. Just kidding we're finding out now!!

Offensive Rookies:

QB: Obviously it's early and a lot will change but right now I got my eye on Davis Mills and Kellen Mond. These two young men weren’t the sexy draft picks, they aren’t top 5 guys. But they are putting up solid numbers and taking care of the ball. Each are over 550 yards 4+ Tds and only 1 int. Through 2 games these rookies should be on the watch list for ROY:

RB: There isn’t much to look at here. The #2 guy on this list right now is Chubba Hubbard. He isn’t flashy, isn’t putting up gaudy numbers but is doing great at spelling CMC. Through 2 games he has only 87 yards but has scored 3 times. Looks like he is getting some of that goal line work, if he starts getting the ball a few more times a game you could see his name pop up a little more. The standout guy through 2 games is Javian Hawkins out of KC. He was undrafted, undersized and not expected to make a roster but the Chiefs dealt away CEH because this guy was showing out in the preseason. He has continued that success into the regular season, he has 40 rushed for  211 yards and 4 tds, averaging a nice 5.3 yards a carry and 1 run of 20+ yards. He has also added 11 catches for 93 yards.

WR: I am looking at 2 guys right here: Dyami Brown from WFT,  and Jaylen Waddle from MIA.  Brown has hauled in a nice 14 catches for 315 yards and 3 TDs. Including an 88 yards bomb. WFT is going to need him to continue this pace if they want to stay in ball games. On the other side Waddle has only played one game so far but set the field on fire. He hauled in 7 passes for 186 yards and 1 td including a 95 yards catch n run. 104 of his 186 were yards after the catch. Both of these guys are in top 10 receiving through first 2 weeks, its safe to say they have adjusted to the NFL just fine.

Tune in next time for DROY……..
