The King’s Declaration
The Shocker:
As much as it pains me to write this, following the first night of RZ games the Browns are the biggest shocker of the night. They went down 10-0 against the high powered Chiefs offense and many thought the game would be over. But then the coach known for a stifling defense during his stint in Pittsburgh showed none of the same grit as they gave up nearly 200 yards rushing and allowed Baker to throw it at will. The coverage was awful but the rush defense was abysmal. Chubb and Hunt were nearly breaking every first tackle thrown their way. Are the Browns for real? Are the Chiefs under the wrong coach as many thought? Only time will tell in RZ season 70.
Surprising:
A nice surprise here is Kfox leading the Chargers to a big win over the WFT and Jake. Defense was an afterthought in this game as the final score was 49-47. But Kfox managed to do what many thought was impossible for him. He stayed out of his own way, he stayed calm, cool and collected to lead his team to victory and for now 1st in the AFC West.
The other team that managed to surprise me was the Houston Texans. Yes, it was going against the Jags, but Jim is a good coach known for defense and General Mills Cereal was able to light the Jags up, going an efficient 18-25 for 249 and 3 tds. I want to see Houston put a few more games together before I fully believe in this team but a great start from them.
Nothing New Here:
Adel and the Ravens are everything we expected to see. Before BM turned off the lights, the Ravens were having their way with the Raiders. I fully expect to see the Ravens carry that momentum into week 2. Will the Chiefs have an answer for Lamar and the Ravens? I’m leaning towards no.
Astin and the Vikings started off strong against a weaker Bengals team. Behind an impressive Dalvin Cook performance and Mond being efficient, I think Astin has his recipe for success. Run the ball, limit turnovers and he will be just fine going forward.
Roc and the Bucs had a very convincing win over the Cowboys. Everyone knew the Bucs would be good but 47-14 with Brady having nearly as many touchdowns as he did incompletions. Don’t even mention Fournette averaging a measly 14 yards a carry and Evans averaging 24 yards a reception, Man these guys are going to be tough going forwards.
