RedZone Coaching Roundtable

Q1: What are you most excited about for the cycle?

Spencer: An opportunity to improve my growth.

Ricky Chapstick: getting back to the competition and team building.

KFox: I'm excited to get a FULL season under my belt. I joined in season 67 I believe which was about February of 21'. Getting to build my team the way I want is enough to get me excited.

Warren Leigh: Rejoining RZ.

Roc: To see how I can maintain success with a stacked team.

Blueprint: Just RZ football in general. Competition

Andy: Having another full cycle under my belt and getting a fresh start with a better team.

JP: Broadcasted Games

Longville: Trying to build the team from the very beginning

KJ: Using a high powered offense

Q2: What’s your biggest goal going into the cycle?

Spencer: Make the playoffs.

Ricky Chapstick: C’mon kid. Don’t ask stupid questions.

KFox: I want atleast ONE winning season and ONE playoff run. These might be high expectations but if the cycle wins and I have accomplished that I'll be more than happy.

Warren: Compete for a division title in the NFC South

Roc: Collecting more hardware

Blueprint: Building a title contender

Andy: Prove that I can maintain success and get out of the bottom feeder tier.

JP: Developing Justin Fields to XFactor

Longville: Playoffs

KJ: Win an RZ Bowl

Q3: Who has the most to prove this year? Whether it’s sustaining success from last cycle or someone with a better roster. Why?

Spencer: Roc, even though he is proven he can hang with the elite. Roc going back to back would solidify that.

Ricky: If not me, then probably those boys in Kansas City. For a first timer, they looked to be elite in Pittsburgh and things have drastically changed this year, so I'm interested to see how that coaching staff adapts.

KFox: I think there's a couple of people you could add to this list.

Rfox has the bills roster, there should be no reason he is not winning games.

Jim has a young good rookie QB, from what I heard that was always his struggle getting his guy.

KJ with the Chiefs roster. Going from an elite defense and a dominate user pass rush to a crap defense and no user pass rush.

Warren: I’m going to say myself. While I do know a few current members, I don’t know enough to answer someone else. And the why is to see if I can still be relevant in these RZ Streets

Roc: I personally don’t care for proving yourself but I’ll say myself. Loaded roster, decent stick skills a lot of individuals have me winning the Super Bowl.

Blueprint: I always feel like I have the most to prove. Self-motivation

Andy: KJ. He has a great roster to make noise with early. I think he’s the obvious answer since how he had success last year.

JP: Can Roc live up to the hype?

Longville: Myself cause my best was midpack and nobody thinks I’ll do any good

KJ: I feel like it's me. I'm used to using a too notch defense and was known for my dline play. Need to step it up and win with some offense and LB play.

Q4: Who’s your favorite and least favorite fit with their teams and why?

Spencer: Jake and the Football Team is always a good thing. My least favorite hiring is probably King John and the Chiefs. When I think of KJ I think run game and defense, this team seems like the opposite.

Ricky: Coach Moji in Cincinnati is my favorite. Getting a guy like him started with a duo like Burrow and Chase? That's a combination he usually has yo build through trade and he's got it for the long run. My least favorite? Probably coach Beech and Detroit, because I don't really envy any staff that has to do what he's gonna have to do to right that ship.

KFox: Favorite:

Nick and the Broncos. From what I've read in chat I'm guaranteed atleast two wins a season.

Least Favorite:

Adel and the Ravens. Never been a fan of great users getting great teams. Nothing against the user, but it's just not going to be fun playing that team.

Warren: Fav - Theo with the Steelers. We’ve had many battles outside of RZ across many games. Very cerebral and always has a thought defense

Least - Blueprint with the Seahawks. Long standing RZ owner. Eternal rival of mine back when I was the Niners in RZ previously.

Roc: My favorite is Pat with the Cowboys scheme & personnel match what he likes. My least I’d have to say King John he’s a run first guy with a pass first team. Will be interesting to see how it works.

Blueprint: Jake. Home team familiarity

Andy: I love Pat with the Cowboys. I actually said that in an article I wrote a couple months back. Least favorite would have to be King John until he proves me wrong that he can run a pass first offense.

JP: Favorite- Jake  Least Favorite- Moji (Bengals not a lot of trading to be done)

KJ: Favorite is BM he gets his favorite team and knows them inside and out and knows how best to use them.

Least favorite is Longville same team I'm predicting same results snd there won't be any excuses to use this year.

Q5: After you’ve had some time to scrimmage with your squad, would you still take that team from your roll? Why or why not? If no, which team would you choose?

Spence: Duh. Kyler Murray

Ricky: Yes. This is my home. Other than sentimental reasons, this defense is elite tier from day 1 and I haven't had a defensive unit like this since LA's Finest back with the Rams.

KFox: Absolutely! I love this Chargers squad, need to upgrade my line and secondary a little bit but really enjoy how this team is built.

Warren: Out of the crop I had the chance to select (Rams, Saints and Texans) I would still take the Saints. Ok on offense, lots of young talent on defense, solid OLine and mounds of cap space.

Roc: Absolutely, I’ve played with the teams I’ve passed on none of them feel as good as my selection. #FireTheCannons

Blueprint: Yes. I knew what I was getting when I chose them because I'm a huge fan IRL and I really like the off season moves I've made to fill in the gaps on some of our deficiencies.

Andy: Absolutely. None of the others have Derrick Henry.

JP: Yes. Still love Fields.

Longville: Yes cause it’s built closest to how I want to play

KJ: Of the choices I had yes. I'd rather have the 9ers to have a good defense to with a solid offense. Instead of the other way around.

Q6: Which rookie QB is your favorite for ROTY? (Lance, Fields, Lawrence, Jones, Wilson) Why?

Spence: Lance, because Kelly is a nuisance.

Ricky: Trey Lance. He's going to make sure he wins it. That coaching staff has a massive chip on their shoulder at all times. Probably unwarranted, but he's gonna be locked in to prove Lance is the guy.

KFox: Trey Lance + Kelly? I do not see any of these other users having success on Kelly's level.

Warren: Sir Lance a Lot. Best combo of having the skills on the field and the mind to process things pre snap.

Roc (Before I added Fields): Damn no Fields? Lol I don’t think any win ROTY give me Kyle Pitts

Blueprint: Lance, because their coach is also an IRL fan and has a winning tradition in RZ.

Andy: Trey Lance. He may even win MVP let alone ROTY.

JP: Lance. It’s Kelly.

Longville: Fields

KJ: Lance. Because it's Kelly that man can do wonders with a qb and if he has to he will throw to the rb 25 times for 150+

Q7: What’s one thing you would love to see in RZ? Whether it’s gameplay or maybe a media idea.

Spence: A larger number of video podcasts. (Got one cooking up) Love the production in the primetime games.

Ricky: Unity

Warren: More peace and love.

KFox: Maybe a spotlight game each week with commentary.

Roc: On the Ram Fam podcast I said more game day commentary.

Blueprint: Better communication/response time from admins in DMs/PMs

Andy: I also would love the game day ideas. Maybe we can assign a game to a few people each week instead of the same 2 or 3 having to do it constantly because that’d be a ton of work.

JP: A broadcasted game every week.

Longville: Game of the weeks

Q8: We have some new booty here in RZ. What’s something you want them to know about yourself and the RZ community as a whole? Also add any tips and advice under this question.

Spence: I suck at Madden, but I’ll send you an X factor for a 2nd rounder.

You get out of RedZone what you put in. If you’re invested in media, chat, and the game itself, you’ll thoroughly enjoy yourself.

Ricky: Myself and several others here have been in the league for almost a decade. Try and have a little perspective when it comes to why this league is where it is and why it should be valued and protected at all costs.

KFox: Don't get in your feelings. Just be here to have fun, take chat with a grain of salt.

Warren: I’ve been and continue to be apart of two long standing game communities. RZ and one attached to the WWE wrestling games where Theo, Jake, Caveman and myself participate in. Theo and myself have 10+ years in that community. The one thing that has led to that place and RZ being around for as long as they have is passion for their work from the top of the community. Which in turn trickles down to the rest of the members. I am amazed at what RZ has blossomed into form when I was last here but not surprised at all. And was honored when Jake reached out to me about returning. No way I would pass on that opportunity.

Roc: Red Zone is the best sim sporting league! * Drops mic

Blueprint: I'm active when it comes to scheduling my games.  I'm willing to compromise on game times outside of my work hours (2:30pm - 2:30am CST). My advice to new members would be:  Activity is a must to fully appreciate all that RZ has to offer as a community. If you have any issues, communicating with your opponent first goes a long way before involving the League office. And please take the Draft process seriously. It's the best part of the experience, outside of having on field success. Keep everything in proper perspective; winning is not everything but we all appreciate and enjoy opponents who play the right way (within the rules).

Andy: Be prepared for a learning curve. Don’t be scared to reach out to some guys who’ve been around here much longer for advice. It’s hard to steer these waters alone especially if this is your first big leap into a league this deep.

KJ: I'm a teacher coach and father of 4. Don't give up if you don't win early it can be a grind and take time to adjustment to start winning.
