I will rank each team 32 to 1 based on what has happened so far this season.
32. Washington Football Team (0-4) Down 2 Spots -- The Washington Football team has struggled to implement anything noteworthy in terms of success on either side of the ball. This coaching staff needs to find a way to use the other worldy physical skills Quarterback Gabe Peek possesses.
31. Las Vegas Raiders (0-5) Down 11 Spots -- The Raiders just lost Coach Tiko and I don't see anyone turning this ship aronnd any time soon. The Raiders have problems at Quarterback based on the way Coach handled the position. The Raiders will sturggle to win a game all year.
30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-4) Down 19 Spots -- Another team that has just lost its head coach. This team could be much higher on this list if they find a competent coach to take over or coach Reid has a change of heart. I firmly believe this team will be in the basement of the NFC if they don't get someone in here ASAP.
29. New England Patriots (0-3) Up 3 Spots -- Coach Glenn comes in here at 29 based on the fact some of the other situatons have just become far worse than what is going on in New England. The Patriots will play hard but I question if they win more than a game or two throughout the rest of this season. This roster construction has hurt Glenn tremendously, he's a better coach than the number 1 pick he's currently in contention for.
28. Buffalo Bills (0-5) Down 7 Spots -- Things have not gone the way Coach JP would have hoped this season. Playing in a top heavy AFC East the bottom half of the division has brought them down. Both the offense and defense have struggled to keep this team in games and it might be time for him to go back to and evaluate his scheme. I hope Coach JP can give it the old college try down the stretch they could upset some potential playoff teams.
27. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) Down 13 Spots -- Another team I have missed the mark on. Since his early success with Archer when he got the Duval it has been a while since this team has been a contender. They are not getting blown out but you can tell GM Pat has not made this roster up to keep him as competitive as he could be. This team is one of my biggest fallers from my preseason power rankings.
26. Kansas City Chiefs (0-4) Down 14 Spots -- Fresh off a loss to the Coach Beat lead Chicago Bears Mahomes and crew are in free fall. They played a tough game week 1 but has been down about two touchdowns each of the last couple of weeks. The passing game has been middle of the road at best bu they are one of the worst rushing team in the league and have obviously put to much pressure on the passing offense to perform. Defense has been middle of the road but nothing spectacular. Another free faller from my preseason article.
25. New York Giants (1-3) Same Spot -- So far I have correctly predicted that where Coach Beech would be at this point. This defense so far has been the worst scording defense in the league. They get little to no pressure and this offense cannot keep up with the barrage the other side of the ball is facing. Compound that with Giraldo's mistakes and Coach Beech is surely looking to his next oppurtunity because the seat under him has to be red hot.
24. Green Bay Packers (1-3) Up 3 Spots -- The Packers continue to struggle but based on what is going on around them they are slotted in here at 24 up 3 slots. The Pack have a chance to win this division and these NFC North games will be very important to determining who is going to represent the division in the playoffs. I have Coach Theo in 4th but worst to first the gap is razor thin. He needs to start playing better defense or they are going no where this season.
23. Minnesota Vikings (1-3) Down 4 Spots -- The Vikings my preseason pick to win the NFC North have not shown much to this point. Matt Overton has been a turnover machine and this team cannot win if things continue like that. Coach Eikim recently annoucned he would be retiring at the end of this season or next. This Vikings team needs to have that win one for the Gipper attitude at this point.
22. Detroit Lions (1-2) Same Spot -- The Lions are exactly where I thought they would be at this point in the year. This team has the potential to win this division again like I said earlier it comes down to their NFC North games and who edges out who to win this thing. The Lions record should be better and I expect them to start winning some of these close games to finish the season hovering around 500.
21. Seattle Seahawks (2-3) Up 7 Spots -- I felt like this team would get better, and they have done so that much I can confirm. I don't think it gets them out of the NFC West cellar but they will give some playoff teams or potential playoff teams a run for their money and steal some games along the way. They need to learn how to score points against teams not named Detroit.
20. Chicago Bears (2-2) Up 6 Spots -- So far the Bears have been the class of the North. A big win against the directionless Chiefs has this team sitting in the drivers seat in the North. Beat has the pieces to win this thing and just has to get to that 7-8 win total likley to get a playoff spot. This Bears team could suprpise a contender down the stretch watch out for Coach Beat.
19. Cincinatti Bengals (1-3) Down 1 Spots -- The Bengals have lost a few close games to good teams so that is why they are so high on my list despite their record. Another loss or two would send them shooting down the board but Browns, Jets, and a suprise Ravens team is no easy schedule to start the year. This ranking is real telling of my new found resepct for the AFC North is playing this year.
18. Indianapolis Colts (2-2) Up 6 Spots -- The Colts are a team that I don't think will be around in the end but for their division mates they need to watchout because he could cost them a playoff spot. Coach Monty is playing well and has Kam Killings going a little bit, the most he has been since Coach Chapstick left town. Running off a war hero won't help you being liked amongst your peers but it was a great win against a good Tampa team.
17. New York Jets (2-2) Down 13 Spots -- Firmly believe that this is just a slight set back for the Jets. I don't expect them to be ranked this low again. However Carson Wentz has been up and down. Making matters worse Greg Harris is performing well for his new team and making the front office in New York look like they may have made a mistake.
16. New Orleans Saints (3-2) Up 7 Spots -- The Saints looked to be dead in the water after the Darnold debacle. They have really proven the critics wrong and if they play their cards right for the rest of this season they could be competiting for a wild card spot. The Saints have been better on defense than they have in the past which is fueling this run to relevancy for Coach Spencer.
15. Cleveland Browns (3-2) Up 16 Spots -- The Browns intial ranking may have been the one I heard the most about from their owner. Well Coach Matt early on has proved me and every other doubter wrong. I am not sure he can sustain this and make the playoffs but the bags are coming off the heads in Cleveland. Cleveland is usually where the Quarterback goes to die but Greg Harris is bucking that trend. Good job on Coach Matt using his legs that has been a big key to their success so far.
14. Baltimore Ravens (2-1) Up 15 Spots -- The Ravens were really an unknown before the season started. However they are playing well and picking up just Coach BP had left them when he left off. Fox and Harris have a chance to make some noise at the end of this season.
13. Carolina Panthers (3-1) Up 3 Spots -- The Panthers lost to the Falcons week 1 and have played some middle of the road teams. I really like what Coach Malik is doing with this team on both sides of the ball. However with all of that being said I want to see him beat a big name and he will shoot up this list.
12. Miami Dolphins (3-2) Down 4 Spots -- The early loss to the Jets did not help with his ranking but he came back and got them the next time around. The Eagles are also a really good team so that loss does not hurt as much. The Dolphins just need to keep things in presepctive for late game situations and win some of the close games they are in and we could be talking top 5 next time I am doing this article.
11. Arizona Cardinals (3-2) Down 9 Spots -- The loss to the Lions really hurt this team in terms of the rankings The Atlanta game is always a toss up between two really good teams. Kyler Murrary has been more down than up so far this season and this defense outside of Isiah Simmons leaves something to be desired. However I have trust in Coach Ram and expect him to improve this recrod and be right there when it comes to the playoffs.
10. Tennessee Titans (3-2) Down 1 Spots -- This team is really good and I raved about them preseason. They have had two tough losses but I expect them to get Houston the next time they play. The Titans have won close games when they have won and numbers wise the offense and defense is seeing a down year so far. I do expect everything to normalize when it comes to Coach Roc so I expect to see this team playing in improtant December/January games.
9. Los Angeles Chargers (3-1) Up 1 Spots -- Titans and Chargers flip from my preseason article. This team has not been very impressive on offense but I like their defense and think the world of coach IJ as an ingame adjustment guy. He will need to widen out some of these margins to avoid dropping a few games that cost him in the end. However the AFC West is not nearly as powerful in terms of the riches of all the teams as it has been in the past.
8. Los Angeles Rams (3-1) Up 9 Spots -- The Rams have been very lucky. Darnold had an off game against the Steelers but they have been pretty effiecent offensivley and the run defense is elite. Can they cover anyone on the back half worth covering? That will be the question down the second half of the year.
7. San Francisco 49ers (3-1) Down 1 Spots -- They could not take advantage of the Cards down year and dropped a close one to them. They need to win these division games if they are going to be a serious contender. Next up is the Rams and both teams will be vying for control of the division. Lamar Jackson is on an MVP trajectory with the numbers he is throwing out there this season. I have questions about the secondary that need to be answered.
6. Dallas Cowboys (5-0) Up 9 Spots -- WG will likely throw a fit that I have not ranked him 1 and proclaimed him a future champion but I am not quite there with the Cowboys. They have some good wins early on espcially the Jets win, but I need to see a little bit more. Archer is having a good year and the WG has been really good in the run game. I want to see more explosive plays from this defense but Merica's team is on its way up and looking to build off of last seasons success.
5. Denver Broncos (4-1) Down 1 Spots -- It has not been pretty at times but in typical Astin fashion he shows he just knows how to win games. Lock has had some ugly games early on but I really like what he does on defense and as the old saying goes... Defense wins championships. They should not schedule the parade quite yet there is a lot of season left but I expect them to go deep into the playoffs and possibly get Coach Astin his first cycle win.
4. Houston Texans (5-0) Up 9 Spots -- Give Metal his due, he is playing really well and winning close games. I need to see more dominance from this team to move them up any more. However Metal has found a formula on offense and defense to win games. Running the ball well and defending the pass well should get you pretty far in the playoffs when it comes time.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (4-1) Up 4 Spots -- This team is good just about everywhere. The loss to the Bucs was more about a personal rivalry than anything wrong with the Eagles per say. I have full confidence in this team to win the NFC East and make some huge noise in the playoffs. Miles Sanders is always one of the best backs in the league and this season is no different he is the heartbeat of this Eagles team.
2. Pitssburgh Steelers (4-0) Up 3 Spots -- The Steelers win ugly just like they always have. Coach John fits the city well and the toughness of this team has been on full display. They play suffocating defense and put just enough on offense to keep the oppoenent arms length away. Another trip to the big game could be instore for this team later on down the road. They wo;uld benefit from scoring a few more points to widen these margins even more.
1. Atlanata Falcons (4-0) Same Spots -- No change at the top. Kelly has been fantastic the last couple of seasons and I expect him to be right there again when it comes to being called a champion this season. They have been super impressive and I feel like this team has a good chance of finishing 16-0.
Thanks to everyone who took their time to read this.
