SEASON 63 AWARDS PREDICTIONS

Hi Redzone thought I'd get my 3rd media carousel contribution in with an awards prediction and little breakdown. These are how I think the voters of RZ will go, not what the game will decide. Without further ado,

LEAUGUE MVP, Kyler Murray, QB Arizona Cardinals

I actually changed my mind in the middle of writing this one. I originally had Wentz here but am going to go with Kyler instead here for a few reasons. Murray is currently 4th in passing yards with 4,001 yards, #1 in passing TD's with 37, and 3rd in QB rating among qualified QBs. He also added 306 yards and 3 TD's on the ground (which actually did surprise me that it wasn't more) but the main reason I'm taking him over Wentz is the fact that Philly had a few CPU games in there which can definitely sway some voters, and in a close race could be the difference. I'd like to see less than 20 interceptions from my MVP pick but this is RZ and 20 picks is pretty much in line with the majority of the league.

Honorable Mention: Carson Wentz, QB Philadelphia Eagles

OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR Kamryn Killings, QB Indianapolis Colts

This one was pretty easy. Jake paid a huge ransom to move up to #1 to take Killings and at least for this season, it seems to have worked out. Killings took a team that missed the playoffs last season to being in contention for the #1 seed in the AFC. Killings needs a big game against the Titans this week to get to 4,000 passing yards, but he's going to finish a few hundred yards ahead of the other rookie QBs while also sitting with a nice 2:1 TD to INT ratio and a QB rating over 100 which is never anything to take for granted. The true test for Killings will come in the playoffs, but this is a regular season award and it really is his to lose.

Honorable Mention: Alex Sharp, WR Philadelphia Eagles

DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR Marcus Minor, MLB Denver Broncos

This one pains me, I really didn't want to give astin yet another award, but looking at the stats it's hard to argue. Minor has over 100 combined tackles, 14 TFL's and an amazing 10 interceptions. You'd think people would stop throwing at astin's user defender but clearly that didn't happen this season so here we are. Credit where it is due, a 5th round MLB gets my vote for DROY, well done astin.

Honorable Mention: Brian Torrence, DE Cleveland Browns

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR Ezekiel Elliott, RB Dallas Cowboys

I'm torn on how to feel on whether or not the league MVP should also win OPOY if he is an offensive player. You could make the argument either way really. But for the sake of this article I'm excluding Murray from consideration. With him out I'm looking at Zeke here maybe because I have a little soft spot for him after our run together last cycle. Zeke leads the league in yards by a healthy margin although Mixon could conceivably catch him with a huge game against the Dolphins. Zeke really carried literally and figuratively carried his team to playoff contention this season with Dak averaging only 223 yards per game and having a pretty ugly TD:INT ratio. Zeke is also going to eat a healthy suspension for the carry distribution but I'm not taking that into account in this vote although I'm sure others might. 1,783 yards and 17 TD's to go along with 51 receptions 272 yards and 2 TD's is a very good season. Now we wait to see if it was enough to get WG into the playoffs for the first time in his career.

Honorable Mention: Jonathan Taylor, RB Indianapolis Colts

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR Isaiah Simmons, SS Arizona Cardinals

Ram gets another award plug from me. Simmons has had a great season with a game yet to play. 124 combined tackles, 9 TFL's, 2.5 sacks, and 11 interceptions is fantastic. When we played Simmons was alll over the field and I really had to account for him on every play which is what the great ones do. I'm curious what Simmons would do as a player who isn't usered a majority of the game but either way, I can't take anything away from the season he's had.

Honorable Mention: Montez Sweat, DE Washington Football Team

COACH OF THE YEAR Ricky Chapstick, Indianapolis Colts

As I mentioned in the write up for Killings, it's been a pretty amazing turn around for the Colts this season. Going from missing the playoffs to a potential #1 seed this year in a division where the Titans were a Super Bowl participant last season, and the Jaguars made their own big leap into playoff contention and the Texans could even finish at 8-8 in 4th place. He's also done it all with the pressure of that trade he made for Killings. Had this year been a disaster he' have been the easy worst GM of the year vote. Jake has done it with a more Jake like offensive approach this year, riding Jonathan Taylor and giving Killings easier reads. He's taken a lot of sacks this year, more than I'd expect behind that offensive line but sacks >>>> interceptions any day of the week. It's been a good regular season for Jake. Now let's see what the playoffs bring.

Honorable Mention: Bubba Reid, Tampa Bay Bucs
