The King's Declaration Part 4

Redzone what is up?! We are now ¼ of the way through the season and I will be taking a deep dive at the first round picks of the last draft and will be making way too early decisions on whether they are a Stud, Every Down Guy, Role Player, Backup or a Bust. Alright let’s go ahead and dive on in. Picks 1-5 are coming up Next:

  1. Kamryn Killings

Of course it's the man, the myth, the legend, the guy everyone was hyped to see. But how is he performing? Well for starters he has the Colts sitting at 3-1 leading the AFC South. Can’t ask for much more from a rookie qb.  Killings is sitting at over 1,000 yards 6 touchdowns to 4 interceptions. Pretty good so far, however a 60% completion rate does show room for more growth. Being a rookie though I am not too worried about that yet. What I am worried about is all of these sacks he is taking. 19 sacks through 4 games. He needs to get rid of that ball faster or his career might be following Andrew Luck’s and ending way too early.

The King’s Declaration: Stud!

  1. Zach Breaston

The top defensive  player off the board is a safety! The Dolphins think they have their Ed Reed or Pat Tillman here. Are they right? Well through 4 games they are 2-2. Not bad so far but is he making the impact they desired. He is sitting at 24 tackles and 4 for loss. Very solid for a safety that should be defending the pass. O wait he is doing that too, With 2 interceptions and 7  deflections he is tied for the lead with some other notable rookies in defending the pass. I wager to say the Dolphins have found their safety of the future/

  1. Will Turner

Defensive End out of Washington. Being the #3 pick you have a lot to live up to in the League. Is he living up to the hype? Damn straight he is. This guy wasn’t drafted to stop the run that’s why you have a defensive tackle. He was drafted to hit QBs and he is doing just that. Tallying 3 sacks through 4 games tied for 2nd among rookies and near the top of the NFL I’d wager to say this kid has lived up the expectations and will be just fine.

The King’s Declaration: Stud!!

  1. Stephen Silvers

Back to back DEs taken in the draft, Silvers and Turner will be getting compared for the remainder of their careers. Silvers much like Turner was drafted to hit QBs. However, unlike his counterpart he isn't doing a great job of it. He has tallied 2 TFLs and 9 total tackles but that is the extent of his contribution to the team in the stat line. He may be taking on some double teams from others on this defense. But that will only last so long.

The King’s Declaration: Every Down Guy

  1. Rob Cutler

Cutler was the first LB off  board at number 5. He was drafted to fill a hole, that being to stop the run and occasionally add some pressure on the QB. So far he seems to be having a little trouble adjusting to the game. He has tallied only 7 tackles and 1 TFL, leaving a lot more to be desired. Hopefully as the team improves he will as well.  But for now the Bengals may be regretting spending such a pick on Cutler.
