The King's Declaration Part 2

We are only 4 weeks into the season and the cash is flowing to the guys with expiring contracts. In today's segment of The King’s Declaration we are going to delve into the Running back and wide receiver contracts. Comparing the contracts to what others are signing.  Are the overpaid? Are they getting a homegrown discount? Or what the hell were they thinking? Let's get started Ladies and Gentlemen!!

Comparisons:

HB: First we are going to dive into the running backs that have signed and compare them to each other and a few others in the league.

New contracts:

Aaron Jones(91): 5 years 47.3 million-9.46 million a year

Joe Mixon(89): 5 years 46.5 million- 9.3 million a year

Matt Breida(80): 4 years 19.8 million- 4.95 million a year

Signed Before Season:

Chritstian Mccaffery(99): 6 years 78 million- 13 million a year

Ezekiel Elliot:(93): 7 years 90.4 million- 12.9 million a year

Derrick Henry(93): 4 years 50 million-  12.5 million a year

Austin Ekeler(85): 4 years 24.5 million- 6.125 million a year

Let's start with the biggest contract A. Jones this man is on a tear this year so far. He is averaging over 100  yards a game. This man is averaging 5.4 yards a carry good enough for top 5 in the league and has reached the end zone 4 times this season. Averaging 9.46 million a year for the next few years seems legit to me:

Next we take a look at J. Mixon. Mixon just cracks the top 10 in rushing yards averaging just a hair over 76 yards game. However, he is averaging a serviceable 4.3 yards a carry and has reached the end zone 4 times this season.

The King’s Declaration: Just right

Last and certainly least we take a glance at M. Brieda. The man just inked a 4 year nearly 20 million contract. If you look at just his rushing numbers you might think what has this man done to deserve to be on the team. The man is averaging 3.5 yards carry and has yet to reach the endzone. However, it is a good thing Breida can catch the ball, through 3 games he has added on 8 rec for 59 yards and 2 tds. At least he reaches pay dirt somehow!

WR: Next we shall delve into the wide receiver contracts. How do they stack against each other and previous ones that were signed and are they even earning this new payday!

New contracts:

Keenan Allen(92): 5 years 96.3 Million- 19.26 million a year

Kenny Golladay(87): 5 years 71.7 million- 14.3 million a year

JuJu Smith-Shuester(87): 4 year 53.4 Million- 13.35 million a year

Will Fuller(83): 5 years 57.3 million- 11.45 million a year

Signed Before Season:

Amari Cooper(93): 5 year 100 million- 20 million a year

Jarvis Landry(86): 5 year 75.5 million- 15.1 million a year

Golden Tate(84): 4 years 27.5 million- 6.875 million a year

As always let us start with the big boy first. K. Allen just inked a huge deal worth over 19 million a year. This puts him in the higher echelon of WR  contracts. Looking through the first 4 games it is a good thing the Chargers don’t need him to be the sole guy that moves the ball down the field as they have 5 guys with over 100 receiving yards. He is clearly getting paid because the man can find the end zone. Allen has 4 touchdowns through 4 games, if he keeps the pace it could be a career year for him. But that doesn’t always mean the contract is right.

The King’s Declaration: Overpaid!

Kenny G, what can I say, the man becomes the highest paid receiver on his team. However, he might not even be a top 3 pass catcher on his team. He is 4th in receptions, 3rd in yards and tied for 3rd in tds ON HIS OWN TEAM!!!!!!! This man is making 14.3 million dollars a year and half your yards come from 1 reception. As Deion would sat C’mon Man!

The King’s Declaration: What the hell were they thinking!

The man, the myth, the guy that rode his bicycle to practice for years before it got stolen, you know who it is JuJu. he is having a solid year hanging out in the top 15 of every receiving category hauling in 21 catches for 289 yards and 3 tds. May not be the huge number he is used to putting up, but with Jake Fromm leading the team they may just continue to skyrocket!

The King’s Declaration: Homegrown discount!

Will Fuller, is he benefiting from the loss of  D-Hop like we all thought he would. I am leaning towards yes, yes he is. Fuller has racked up 16 receptions for 275 yards through 4 games. The only knock on him is he has yet to find the endzone. Man , if you want to earn that contract better start finding pay dirt!
