TheOneFromNone Mock Draft

Process:  I wrote the top 5 draftable people in each position, except FB, K, and P.  I didn’t do a deep dive on any position.  What this is, is me taking a look at each teams current roster and doing what I think they should or would do.  I fully expect to be wrong.

  1. New York Giants
  • Team Needs:  QB, C, ROLB, SS
  • Projected Pick: QB - Joe Allen
  • Thoughts:  QB Joe Allen has the upside over Tim Fowler.  Giants have a glaring hole at QB, this is a no brainer
  1. Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Team Needs:  QB, LT, LE, DT, CB,
  • Projected Pick:  QB - Tim Fowler
  • Thoughts:  The Steelers drafted Pickett last year, and this year they will go 2 QBs in 2 1st rounds.  Pat Allen really wanted Joe Allen, but will have to settle with Tim Fowler
  1. Houston Texans
  • Team Needs:  QB, LT, RG, RT, DT, MLB, CB
  • Projected Pick: CB Franklin Goodwin
  • Thoughts:  The Texans have many holes in this team.  But, getting an almost guarantee at corner in a pass happy league is a great get.
  1. Cincinnati Bengals
  • Team Needs: QB, TE, LG, LOLB, ROLB, SS
  • Projected Pick: TE Justin Peerman
  • Thoughts:  They have a huge need at QB.  They may be finding a stop gap in free agency, but letting Peerman fall out of the top 5 looks like it hits its end at #4.  Giving whomever the Bengals get a great target at TE to pair with one of the best cores in the league.
  1. Houston Texans
  • Team Needs:  QB, LT, RG, RT, MLB, OLB
  • Projected Pick:  ROLB Jason Neal
  • Thoughts:  QB could be the pick here, but I think a pass rusher to help Garrett is gotta be a get.
  1. Seattle Seahawks
  • Team Needs:  WR, LE, RE, DT, FS
  • Projected Pick:  LE Brett Elston
  • Thoughts:  Seahawks would’ve loved for Peerman or Goodwin to fall, but instead have one of the top prospects fall in their lap.
  1. Indianapolis Colts
  • Team Needs: QB, TE, RG, LE, ROLB
  • Projected Pick: LOLB Josh Logan
  • Thoughts:  The Colts were hoping for Peerman here. But, with questions after the top 2 QBs, they look to the defense and Josh Logan is the guy.
  1. Carolina Panthers
  • Team Needs:  WR, TE, OT, MLB
  • Projected Pick: MLB Shaq Redmon
  • Thoughts: They moved a lot of WRs out and Tommy Tremble may be their TE.  RT is the safer pick, but Redmon gives the Panthers a nice option to stop the TE and help in run support.
  1. New York Jets
  • Team Needs: QB, LT, LE, LOLB
  • Projected Pick:  QB Randy Brooks
  • Thoughts:  Jets traded away Zach Wilson. I think they wanted to start over.  There are other concerns, but they are the team I see jumping to get a QB in the 1st round.
  1. Miami Dolphins
  • Team Needs: QB, RG, DT, SS
  • Projected Pick:  DT Lamichael Dobson
  • Thoughts:  RZ Super Bowl Champs need a QB, but a QB in the draft doesn’t seem to be the answer.  Getting a premier DT in the 10th round, what a steal.
  1. Atlanta Falcons
  • Team Needs:  HB, LG, RT, LE, ROLB, SS
  • Projected Pick: RT Matt Patchett
  • Thoughts:  The Falcons needed a lot of things this offseason, but after giving up 60+ sacks, the OL has to be a priority.
  1. Washington Commanders
  • Team Needs:  QB, OLB, G,
  • Projected Pick:  ROLB Ben Feeny
  • Thoughts:  QB Sam Howell might not be the Commanders guys this season, but they aren’t looking the 1st round for his competition.  Ben Feeny would be a nice addition behind on the best DE groups right now.
  1. Cincinnati Bengals
  • Team Needs: LG, LOLB, ROLB, SS
  • Projected Pick: SS Matt Thompson
  • Thoughts:  I dropped QB off as a need as I don’t see them getting one this early.  Getting the best Strong Safety on a team currently with questions at strong safety, the Bengals pounce at this.
  1. Las Vegas Raiders
  • Team Needs: LG, C, RG, RT, LE, DT
  • Projected Pick: LE Sergio Spearman
  • Thoughts:  Raiders have a lot of answers already at skill positions.  And while I think the BETTER idea would be to address the OL, I don’t see that happening.  Instead, they look to Sergio Spearman to help with the pass rush.
  1. Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Team Needs: TE, LG, RG, RT, RE, SS
  • Projected Pick: RT Jon Spears
  • Thoughts:  The Jaguars would’ve loved a tight end here, but instead, they address one area where they currently have 0 players on the roster at.  J
  1. Cincinnati Bengals
  • Team Needs: LG, LOLB, ROLB
  • Projected Pick: LG Ty Blake
  • Thoughts:  I think the Bengals have got to consider Blake here. The current guard is just simply not good.  This could potentially give them a solid OL from left to right.
  1. Seattle Seahawks
  • Team Needs: WR, RE, DT, FS
  • Projected Pick: FS Brian Colon
  • Thoughts:  Taylor Rapp is a serviceable FS.  Getting Brian Cole would be a major upgrade from Rapp.  I think this is the right play here.
  1. New England Patriots
  • Team Needs: WR, RE
  • Projected Pick: WR Bruce Bolden
  • Thoughts:  The Patriots aren’t amazing, but they certainly don’t have a lot of holes.  WR isn’t their strongest position but adding Bolden to it could certainly give them some explosiveness.
  1. Arizona Cardinals
  • Team Needs: WR, RG, RE, ROLB, CB
  • Projected Pick: CB Evan McNair
  • Thoughts:   I think the Cardinals flirt with the idea of a WR here, but instead, they take a safe pick and grab a corner.  They have 2 startable CBs.  After that, it’s a steep drop off.
  1. Philadelphia Eagles
  • Team Needs: QB, MLB, FS,
  • Projected Pick: FS Malcom Capers
  • Thoughts:  This is another team that didn’t really have a lot of holes.  But one of the holes in Free Safety.  This might be a little high for Capers; if it is, it’s not by much.  I think the Eagles are happy he lands in their feet
  1. Baltimore Ravens
  • Team Needs: RT, RE, CB
  • Projected Pick: RT Mike Chambers
  • Thoughts:  I think the Ravens could go CB here, to help with teams like the Bengals in their division, but instead, they give Lamar on the best RTs in the draft.  Not a sexy pick, but it’s the right pick.
  1. Cleveland Browns
  • Team Needs: RT, LE, RE, LOLB,
  • Projected Pick: LE Rob Mellon
  • Thoughts:  A Pretty solid team, the Browns must replace Garrett.  Rob Mellon is ready to step into that spot right away.
  1. Buffalo Bills
  • Team Needs:  LG, RT, LOLB
  • Projected Pick: LOLB Jeremiah Carradine
  • Thoughts: The Bills have Milano.  That’s it.  I think Carradine is the best pick here for someone who is going to be the guy from day 1.
  1. Green Bay Packers
  • Team Needs: WR, RT, SS
  • Projected Pick: SS Travis Thomas
  • Thoughts:  A WR here would be nice.  RT may be as well.  But, hurting from letting Amos go, the Packers need to find his replacement asap.
  1. New York Jets
  • Team Needs: LT, LE, LOLB
  • Projected Pick: LT Travis Clements
  • Thoughts:  I think the first LT off the board, Clements, finally goes here to pair with the Jets rookie QB.
  1. Kansas City Chiefs
  • Team Needs: RE
  • Projected Pick: RE Chris Barker
  • Thoughts:  This was a fun/easy one.  They have 1 need.  Found the best player at the position.
  1. Tennessee Titans
  • Team Needs: TE, RT, LE, OLB,
  • Projected Pick: LE Rob Mellon
  • Thoughts:  One of the blaring holes in this team is DE.  Rob Mellon is a day one starter.
  1. Indianapolis Colts
  • Team Needs: QB, TE, RG, LE
  • Projected Pick: RG Julian Lamb
  • Thoughts:  Not a sexy pick but getting late in the 1st round.  Do you risk it for a Camarillo or do you take Julian Lamb?
  1. Tennessee Titans
  • Team Needs: TE, RT, OLB
  • Projected Pick:  LOLB Max Barrett
  • Thoughts:  After grabbing Rob Mellon, they look the next level.  Max Barnett comes in to Tennessee and ready to be the starter
  1. New Orleans Saints
  • Team Needs: TE, G, C, RT, RE, OLB
  • Projected Pick: ROLB Duane Thompkins
  • Thoughts:  Fresh off a great season, the Saints have remodeled that whole team.  Despite a need a OL, the Saints make a splash in grabbing Duane Thompkins.
  1. Carolina Panthers
  • Team Needs: WR, TE, OT
  • Projected Pick: WR Lance Dobson
  • Thoughts:  Panthers look to fill a void next to Moore.  Lance Dobson gives the Panthers a deep threat.
  1. Miami Dolphins
  • Team Needs: QB, G, SS
  • Projected Pick: LG Frank Marshall
  • Thoughts:  I think the Dolphins play it safe here, and just grab on the BPA that’s left.  No reason to take a risk.

  1. Houston Texans (BONUS!!!)
  • Team Needs: QB, LT, RG, RT, MLB
  • Projected Pick: LT Brad Johnson
  • Thoughts:  Texans could go anywhere. But getting the 2nd best LT with the 1st pick of the 2nd round, the Texans gladly take it.
