New York Giants (1-0) @ Washington Football Team (0-1) - WFT (-4.5)
The 1-0 Giants knock off the Denver Broncos in Week 1 behind a big game from Daniel Jones, while the Washington Football Team falls to the Chargers at home, allowing 49 points in the process. Washington traded their 1st round pick to bring in Shaquill Griffin to their secondary, he makes his debut this week.
Stephen A. Smith (1-1)
THE PICK - Giants
STEPHEN'S TAKE - Coach Chapstick can talk about 'transition' all he wants, but this is why guys don't deviate from the system that made them successful. That coaching staff in New York is dangerously underrated. Washington is going to be stubborn for a long time with this new system and hopefully witch away from it once they realize IT JUST AINT GON WORK!! Until then, I don't like their odds in most games. Gimme the Giants 38-31.
Field Yates (1-1)
THE PICK - Football Team
YATES' TAKE - While I don't know what Jake Allen team we will get in Week 2, I do not trust this Giants defense to stop the top 3 scoring offense in Washington.
Tony Gonzalez (1-1)
THE PICK - N/A
TONY'S TAKE - N/A
Rich Eisen (2-0)
THE PICK - Football Team
RICH'S TAKE - Growing up in New York, I watched those great Giants team of the past win. Sadly, I am a Jets fan and I know nothing but misery. That said I expected New York to be miserable this year, but Jones and company proved me wrong last week. Can it last?
I don't think so. I'm taking the Football Team here. Coming off that shootout loss and all the talk surrounding the trade for Griffin, I think Washington can steady the ship and silence the haters with a good outing in this one. Now is it worth adding a slot corner when the quarterback of the future is nowhere in sight? That's still to be seen. Give me Washington laying the 4.5.
Donovan McNabb (1-1)
THE PICK - Football Team
DONOVAN'S TAKE - With a vastly improved secondary, Coach Chapstick no longer has an excuse about his defense being a reason for a lack of success. I don't think Monty's elite 'playcalling' will be enough to overcome the experience of the Washington coaching staff, even though some of the new rule adjustments seem to more align themselves with his play style.
Shannon Sharpe (2-0)
THE PICK - Football Team
SHANNON'S TAKE - I'm putting $1k on Washington EASILY. The coaching is better, the roster is better, the hair is better. I don't see one single timeline in the multiverse where the Giants walk away with a win this week.
Nick Wright (1-1)
THE PICK - Football Team
NICK'S TAKE - The Giants love play action calls but the gimmick gets old pretty quick for those who are hip. On top of that, Red Zone hasn't seen this much Cover 0 called since Coach Smokes retired. Washington will see it coming and walk away with a statement victory.
Will Cain (0-2)
THE PICK - Football Team
WILL'S TAKE - Bounce back game for Chapstick. Offense looked great, defense WILL look better. Give me the Reds-...Football Team.
John Clayton (1-1)
THE PICK - Football Team
JOHN'S TAKE - I'm going to go with Washington. Both of these teams were on the opposite extremes last week. I think it is less likely Daniel Jones and the Giants repeat their effort than for the Football Team to repeat theirs. Add in a big trade for Washington and you have all the makings of a makeup game for them.
The things I'm looking forward to finding out in this game are if New York can put forth another extremely aggressive effort on offense, and can Ryan Fitzpatrick settle down and take more control of the game. If Fitzpatrick can settle in and let the game come to him, I think Washington will make up for last week.
Jeff Darlington (0-0)
THE PICK - Giants
JEFF'S TAKE - I'm picking the Giants in this one, 35-24. Until I see an improvement on the Washington defense I am going to believe they are going to lose shootouts. Especially if the opposing defense can run the ball, and the Giants can do just that. Giants are going to put Washington in the 'spin cycle'.
