RedZone Fantasy Five

Welcome to the RedZone Fantasy Five! Your (somewhat) weekly go to coverage for all things RZ fantasy brought to you by Andrew and Spencer! Here we will give you top 5 players that NEED to be in your lineups. We switched to 5 players in general so we can do this more often. We will be accessing more than just overall but how they matchup against opponents. We will also have a segment called “Welcome to Dumpsville”! A segment that tells you guys you absolutely do NOT need to be starting in any situation! Hope you all enjoy!

Set and Forget: Wayyyyy too early for all this

THE FANTASY FIVE (WEEK 3)

(These are off week 1 performances since week 2 is underway)

  1. QB: Drew Lock (DEN)- And week 1 showed the Coach Astin we all know and love. 4 TDs. It’s Lock dev season and we all know it. I see him as a future set and forget. Matching up against the Raiders who also have a high power passing game, there will be a lot of passing yards to go around for each team!                            Projection: 31.7 points
  2. RB: Austin Wilson (DET)- The Rookie in Detroit had an absolute solid week 1! Totaled 27.1 fantasy points! Even with the acquisition of Lev Bell, Wilson got 22 touches compared to Bell’s 1. The Lions seem to love this guy and after week 1 I’m sure they are feeling it even more. There is absolutely nothing to be excited about on the passing side of this team, so Wilson will get a TON of touches. Against the 49ers, if they want a chance at all, controlling the time of possession will be key.                                                                      Projection: 17.4 points
  3. WR: Julio Jones (ATL)- Holy Julio. Maybe the best week we’ve seen from a WR since this Fantasy 5 has began and a week 3 matchup against the Vikings shows more promise. Not another week like week one, but he’s in for another very nice day.                                          Projection: 22.1 points
  4. TE: Jeremiah Barrett (PHI)- Barrett, outside of RB Sanders, led this receiving core by a whopping 7 receptions. 175 yards and a TD will put him on this list easy! Especially with Hurts coming in, I doubt the Eagles look deep often. Barrett is in for another productive day.                     Projection: 14.6 points
  5. DEFENSE: Cardinals- Playing the Rams week 3 is hard for us to give a good assessment on because the Rams played the Giants in week 1 so it’s hard to tell if Goff will be a for real threat this year, but what we do know is that the Cardinals defense is a real threat. Simmons has more trophy cases in his house than some coaches  in this league have and it’s only season 3. With him lurking everywhere, it will be hard for Goff to get into a rhythm and the Rams still look to try to be figuring out their RB balance. I like this matchup for the Cardinals.                               Projection: 11.5 points

WELCOME TO DUMPSVILLE

Ah Dumpsville, a place no fantasy owner wants to visit but even the best of managers have to admit you made a bad pick up. Here is one player from each position you should not start this week or if you have them in general, it’s time to work those waivers.

QB: Carson Wentz (PHI)- Woah, Wentz in Dumpsville? For us, he’s driving the bus right now. Wentz was superb in Philly don’t get me wrong but going to the league leading team throwing picks last year we ask “Was who behind center the problem?” You saw the same thing with Mahomes the past 2 seasons, that’s a 99 overall sitting a lot of games. Everyone is on the edge of their seat for this move. But do NOT touch him yet.

Projection: 12.7 points

RB: Kyree Byers (NYJ)- Losing Bell has seemed to slow down this run game but that will not stop Coach Moji from winning by any means. Moji loves to throw the ball with Sam and he has even said before he isn’t sure if he found his bell cow, so if you took a chance of this guy, he may MAY be a flex if you’re in a gherkin.(tiny pickle)

Projection: 6.3 points

WR: Michael Thomas (WR)- Sorry Spencer but in all fantasy leagues Michael Thomas is such a highly valued pick and here he is, mediocre. Giraldo in week 1 looked more to the short game of TE and RB than the member of the 99 club. MT will be going against the Cowboys but this doesn’t have to be a high scoring game. Coach Spence will look to control the pace with short gains, capping Thomas out in ceiling.

Projection (Non-PPR)- 5.2 points
