RZ Athletic - Anonymous GM Survey 2.0 - Season 62
Welcome to the RZ Athletic Anonymous GM Survey 2.0! At the beginning of the season we asked GMs about trading, transactions, etc. Now we polled GMs about a variety of topics, including the upcoming draft, and how they thought Season 62 went.
Enjoy the survey!
1) - Who wins MVP for Season 62?
-"Derrick Henry"
-"Derrick Henry (If he doesn’t get a stat pad suspension ????)"
-"Derrick Henry"
-"Derrick Henry, by a landslide."
-"Has to be Henry, he is the only reason that team was competitive."
-"Henry!!"
-"Henry"
-"Derrick Henry"
-"Unfortunately Derrick Henry"
-"Between Derrick Henry and Lamar. Wentz is in the mix, but I think that team would have been where it is regardless of the QB. Henry is literally carrying the Titans and Lamar is so dynamic which is in contrast to Wentz's situation. Not sure the same thing happens if Lamar isn't the Ravens qb. Nod goes to Derrick Henry."
-"It has to be Henry. An absolute stud-muffin who wrecked this league down after down. Tip my hat to coach Roc for putting his guy in a position to win but honestly, I think 85% of users would've had an MVP campaign with this guy. "
-"Derrick Henry. Although I think you can make a case for Aaron Jones or Derek Carr."
2) - Who wins Rookie of the Year for Season 62?
-"Ruggs or Simmons. both players carried their teams to a much better record than anyone expected."
-"Isaiah Simmons out of Arizona would be my favorite. This league however will mess up and likely vote for Burrow."
-"I think Its Ruggs just because of how much he changes that Raiders offense, but man Isiah Simmons has been amazing. Hes a guy that will never be recreated, and Ram really puts him in the perfect position down in and out. My vote goes to Ruggs but its almost 1a 1b."
-"Chase Claypool."
-"Ruggs."
-"Henry Ruggs III"
-"Henry Ruggs"
-"Ruggs or Simmons. I lean Simmons because he did so much for that defense, he completely changed how they play."
-"Ruggs for sure. Probably the worst rookie class of quarterbacks we've seen."
-"Ruggs."
-"Henry Ruggs"
-"Ruggs."
-"Henry Ruggs"
-"Ruggs."
3) - Who wins Coach of the Year? Why?
-"Weed - Hes done a great job coaching a team that goes into every game as the lesser talented team. Being at 9 wins is impressive."
-"Coach Astin, Drew Lock is the most efficient QB in the league trades away best pass rusher is still good."
-"Astin. Taking the Broncos to the playoffs why else?"
-"Moji, winning the AFC East with the Jets was unbelievable, the rest of his division should be ashamed."
-"Metal, starting 1-5, trading away his two best players, then going on a 9 game run? Pretty incredible."
-"Going with Coach Ram of the Cardinals. This Cardinals team is sitting at the top of the NFC with the Bucs, with half of the talent. Ramesu coaches this team by maximizing on their strengths and running the offense through Kyler Murray. The defense is stout, and I love this team right now."
-"Blueprint. After a slow start, he's hit the gas and hasn't stopped. Top 5 offense and defense, plus signature wins against the Eagles, Titans and Washington, he's been dominate while implementing his style."
-"Ram... everyone loves a feel good story."
-"Ramesu. Exceeded all expectations and put a real contender on the field year one."
-"Blueprint. Hes got his team humming. People thought he'd be good, but to me he is better than advertised. If the award is who has done more with less, Astin and the Broncos have a case."
-"ROC - people will be impressed with the win over Astin in the playoffs. It should be Ernest if we're speaking purely to the grit that's been showed all season long AND the way he's turned it around as a COACH. The niners team was super good to start off the season, he was not. Now he's playing great and this team is going to be scary scary for years to come."
-"It has to be Weed. Making the playoffs with that roster is incredible."
4) - Who would you vote as ‘Most Disappointing’ this year? Why?
-"Eikim. although he still got my GM of the year vote for that trade he pulled off."
-"It's gotta be JP. Bills team started off hot and we all thought he was going to be primed for a good year. Turns out, nope, it's JP. His nickname should be "Just JP" because just being JP will never be enough to reach greatness in this league."
-"Kelly. I know he hasn't played in a long time and its a whole new madden but Astin Light is different. Those Falcons have weapons on offense and speed on defense. 5 wins at this point seems like a let down. I'm sure he will turn it around, but I wouldn't have guessed he wouldn't have been in the mix what so ever."
-"Spittah and the Chiefs. Having the defending SB champs and finishing last in your division is insane."
-"JP. The AFCE was a cakewalk and he choked. At least Spittah had a tough division."
-"Me... because I'm awful."
-"Spittah. We all know why."
-"I am voting for Black Magic. He goes and gets a 31 year old Von Miller with his first round pick, and finishes at the bottom of his division. I had high hopes for the Fins, but it has been a long season down in Miami."
-"Spittah. Best team, can't go. 500. Come on man."
-"JP, Spittah, Jake. Those three jump out for me, none of them lived up to expectations. JP and Jake fell apart as the year went along, and Spittah started out poorly."
-"Anyone else disappointed in Lefty? In that division, with that roster, he didn't really do much outside of win games he was supposed to."
-"Coach Spittah, he’s the Chiefs. That team should be winning a lot more than it is."
-"JP for sure. He had an opportunity as the clear favorite for his division and the 2nd half of his season has been an utter catastrophe. Just what an epic collapse."
5) - Who wins the Super Bowl? Why?
-"The Cardinals. That team is Red hot! They are playing really well & seem to have found their groove."
-"Coach Roc, Derrick Henry leads the way."
-"blueprint. Most complete around team. Very consistent."
-"My Super Bowl winner is the Philadelphia Eagles. Coach Adel has done very well with this team, and he has been there before. The Bucs look good, so does Arizona and Denver, but if I had money on a team this post-season, give me Philly."
-"Ravens. Too deep and hitting on all cylinders."
-"The Ravens. As aforementioned, the dominance and ability to win big games."
-"Astin because he always does."
-"Broncos and Cardinals will be the Super Bowl, I like Ramesu's chances this year."
-"Gotta be the Titans, nobody is stopping that ground attack."
-"Denver. Astin figured out that team just like most people thought he would. I don't see anyone beating him."
-"My money right now is on San Fran. That team is scary and they really turned it on in the last half of the season. The dline is just too good and they have a good coverage scheme behind it. Offensively they don't make mistakes, you can't stop Kittle, and they run the damn ball."
-"The Ravens. The ravens are insanely good. All Blueprint has to do is not beat himself."
-"As much as it pains me, I'm going Philly. That roster is too good and I trust adel in a big game far more than I do BP."
6) - Which ‘bubble team’ that misses the playoffs this year is most likely to make it next year? Why?
-"Bills. JP really has no excuse for missing the playoffs this year. but that roster is still leaps and bounds better than the other 3 in that division."
-"Chiefs, I think Terry figured it out as the year went along, and he will carry that momentum into this season."
-"As long as we don't say the saints, I honestly don't care. I could see the Jaguars and Colts creeping in on the AFC East. Definitely see the Falcons only getting better too."
-"The Indianapolis Colts. I can see Jake getting rejuvenated behind a new qb. Getting his running game going. All that is standing in his way is Derrick Henry."
-"Buffalo. The Bills are still the best team top to bottom in the AFC east Ave I think they'll get their shit together for a run next year."
-"Jake. Because I said so."
-"Buffalo. Coach JP has a great team, had some minor hiccups that could have easily translated into a 12-4 season, if avoided."
-"Bills. We're playing great ball and amazing defense. Then the bottom fell out. He'll figure it out next season."
-"Give me the Colts. The Colts are a good team, but they went on a bad stretch of games that botched their season. I like them to bounce back."
-"Buffalo. I don't see back to back late season collapses."
-"Bills, they are set up to work well into the future and I would be surprised if the Chargers and Texans kept up the type of play they are showing now."
-"If the Chargers miss I would say they 100% make it next year."
7) - What coaches/GM’s took the biggest hit to their stock after S62?
-"SPITTAH, Jake Allen, JP, Spencer, WG, Kelly."
-Spittah, Spencer, Jake, BM."
-"JP, Spencer, and Kelly. All three of these guys disappointed me so much."
-"BM and JP."
-"I think Coach Roc's stock improved after his run this season with the Titans. He's been successful running the ball and showing off his stout defense."
-"Jake."
-"Spencer, it only confirmed to me he isn't worth mentioning in title contenders."
-"Spittah and Jake. No explanation."
-"Kelly. Woof."
-"Eikim. again, he gets my GM of the year vote, but going 3-13 with that roster, in that division is rough."
-"I expected a better season from Malik and the Panthers. I wonder if this was a fluke season or if this is what we need to expect from them moving forward."
-"No question, Spittah and his Chiefs. Comes into the game with a great roster, the best qb in the league and shits the bed. Theres guys winning out here with the Jets and he struggled with this team. Very dissapointing."
-"Black Magic and JP. AFC East is doing horrible."
8) - If you were in the shoes of a QB needy team, would you trade 3 first round picks to get the chance to select Kamryn Killings? Why?
-"Yes 100% if you are a decent user and can dev this guy, u go get him. Hes going to be amazing. A team like Minnesota would waste his talents."
-"No, you need players around the QB this cycle. Killing throwing 25 interceptions this upcoming season. Book it."
-"No. A few teams have shown what is possible with a young unpolished qb. No reason to sell the farm."
-"It really depends on the team situation. Some teams are in dire need, but there are plenty of QBs that will come out this cycle. Giving up 3 first rounders will be cripling and there is no need to sell your soul for Killings."
-"No. Too rich. There will be other QBs coming. 3 firsts is way too much."
-"No, trading that many picks for one player is never worth it, even if it is a quarterback. You will sacrifice elsewhere."
-"If you win a championship, absolutely. That's why we play the game right? If Killings is the guy, go get him."
-"No chance. 85% of quarterback play is user skill."
-"Yes. A great QB can push you to a SB win (see Beech, Brandon)."
-"Honestly, this question can't be answered with just a yes or no. If I'm a team like Indianapolis who has young pieces and a foundation, I'd be more inclined. If I'm a team in the midst of a full rebuild, then hell no. He MIGHT be a generational QB. That's a big price to pay for hope."
-"No. Teams are using 60 overall qb's and getting it done. You control the qb. Practice making reads, give yourself some help on oline and some weapons. Sure up your defense and you will be a good team. Spending tons of money on a position that you are controlling is not the way to go this time around."
-"Not a fucking chance. Awful decision. Just desperate and thirsty. No one man should have all that power."
-"We have no need for QB, so I have not scouted a single one so I'm not sure what his letter grades are. but we're never one to completely mortgage the future for 1 player so no we wouldn't do it. that being said, if any team made sense to do it, it was the Colts. they have a young offense that Jake can build up together and a ton of cap space to spend in FA. but now Jake has to put it all together. its a huge risk, if it doesn't pan out he's an easy worst GM vote for years."
9) - Which last place division finisher has the best chance to go from worst to first? Why?
-Chiefs. only because of the roster. I really don't see any of the last place teams pulling this off so Chiefs get my vote by default."
-"Hmmmmm....I have to say THE CHIEFS! I'm all in on the Terry revenge tour. Late night practice mode and quick match games? Oh the fondu is warming up baby!!!"
-"If the Dolphins coach wasn't still shell shocked after the Preston Williams thing, I'd say they were primed to make a big push in a division with some very weak rosters and inconsistent players. Thing is, he might be both of those."
-"Dolphins or Chiefs, I really like BM's chances in the AFC East this year."
-"The Jags are only gonna finish a few games behind the Titans in the AFC South. If they can improve the roster and squeak out a few more wins, they could have a chance at that #1 spot."
-"Black Magic. He won't admit it, but he's been tanking the majority of the season."
-"Chiefs. Stacked roster, good user. If he gets his head out of his rectum, he can compete"
-"Chiefs. If they ever figure out how to play M21 that roster is ridiculously loaded."
-"The Chiefs. I say that because this roster is really good and Spittah is putting it together late. I like to see him win 10+ next season."
-"Bm. Hes a good user. Rough stretch of games..he'll bounce back"
-"Chiefs, they are loaded and should be better."
-"None of them. These teams are clearly cheeks. None of them are turning around & winning their division next season."
