Coach Bird week 1 notes

      It was a very tough game for us offensively, the defensive coordinator in Detroit did an excellent job dialing up the right calls to slow our run game. Our offense struggled in the passing attack as well. QB Stanley Parks showed a lack of discipline in going through his reads throwing 2 horrible picks. He did connect with Brockers and Hamilton on nice plays but we have to clean up the mistakes. 

      Our defense did an excellent job today. I like to say after the last 2 seasons it's been extremely bad for our defense and today our defense actually showed some life. Our front 7 did a solid job stopping the run and out front four did a great job making the pocket uncomfortable for Carr. With Jonathan Allen going down with an injury early in the game Tacoi Moss came up with a couple sacks. DE Perry Bowls also racked up 4 sacks as well. Our safety duo of Macklin and Harper grabbed a combined 3 interceptions while newcomer LB Garrod Newman grabs 2 interceptions as well.  

Offensive standout : WR R. Brockers 2 receptions for 99 yards

Defensive standout: DE Perry Bowls. 5 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 fumble force and recovery.
