Whew that went how I expect them all to go. We went out there from the first snap & handled business today. Back to back weeks now we have beat up on the lesser teams in the AFC East. If only we could have swept Buffalo!
I think the whole team came to play today, the offense looked awesome, Sam was slinging it all over & the defense made life miserable all day long for the Phins. Being able to take advantage of a weak O-line was huge for us. Quinnen had a sack & a half, Jenkins had a sack & a half & then Christmas came up with a huge sack as well. All that pressure helped our guys in coverage as well. Blake Cashman had an interception, Mosley made the huge one in the endzone & Quincy Wilson had two interceptions from the Nickel spot. Im really happy with how they played.
Sam was able to get us going early with the strike to Mims on what seemed to be miscommunication from the Dolphins defense. They looked super confused early on making a lot of switches all over the field before getting set. Sam finished the day 24/33 for 354 for 3td's & 1 interception. He also found Chris Herndon & Jamison Crowder for scores. Perine & Adams each ran in touchdowns on the day as well. Nice to see two young guys who work really hard, make the most of their opportunities.
It was a good team win but we have our work cut out for us to end the year. I like where we are heading into the bye, at 6-4 & tied for first I will absolutely take that. We face Miami, Las Vegas, Seattle, Los Angeles (Rams), Cleveland & New England to end the year. We need to realistic go 5-1 to have a chance at this division in my opinion. The Bills are playing good football right now but it has been NCI the whole AFC East has dropped games the past two weeks while we have been on a 2 game winning streak. We cant be complacent, its time to turn it up a notch. With that I open it up to questions:
We heard after the Bills game you did not even address the team, and the following practice was rough. Do you think your guys responded to that & is that the right move when being the coach of a team?
Yeah I was livid after that Bills game, not going to lie. I just think we didn't make plays in that game, we had a ton of opportunities to win & didn't make any plays. Thats not going to become a trait a Moji coached team has. We will make plays. Look what happened since, we routed the Patriots & Dolphins back to back. We have looked much better since I went in on them at practice. Sometimes running suicides all practices makes you appreciate working on your craft to get better. If we lose to a better team because they flat out beat us, im okay with that, I really am. What I will not stand for is half ass effort & just dumb mistakes that prevent us from winning. Those are punishable & they got punished. I stand by what I did 100%, our guys are hungry & they want to win. I think they responded positively.
Sam has throw 3 touchdowns in back to back weeks. We know a lot of the plays changed heading into the Chargers game, how do you feel Sam is finally grasping this offense?
Yeah you can see Sam looks a lot better out there, limiting turnovers & not missing like he was. Things were rough for a few weeks there and thats on me. We have made changes multiple times this year so that we could fool opposing coaches & try to compete. Thats on me making things too complicated for everyone. We have such a unique skillset here I have to do what I can to make sure that Sam & everyone else are in the best spot to succeed. I think that we are finally in a spot where Sam knows what I am going to call & can really see what the goal is for the offense. I do think that adding wr Keelan Cole has been a huge addition. He had 2 big catches today for 50 yards. What he brings to the team though helps, him taking snaps away from Mims & from Perriman really makes those other guys work harder & want to make the most of their opportunities as well. Cole has nice size & speed & has really good hands. He is still learning the offense so will be a rotational guy for us but having that one other guys we can throw out there that will be a matchup nightmare for opposing teams is great for us. I am looking forward to getting him more involved as weeks go on. As far as Sam goes, the kid is going to be a great QB, he just is. Its all about how quickly we can get him to that point. I think he will be a Pro-Bowl QB this year, im going to do what I can to make sure he accomplishes that. I know it was a big goal of his coming into this season.
The experts all picked against you guys and you were pretty vocal about it. What did you see in this matchup heading into this game that you thought was disrespectful for experts to pick coach BM over you here?
Look I know we have not been the most consistent team in the league this year, but I think we are a good football team & most weeks are a real tough out. I love coach BM hes a great head coach & has won in this league before. But lets be real, there is only 1 Moji. To be honest when you have coaches like BM or Glenn who are great dudes, and are good coaches, but when you go head to head with me you better be able to make a bunch of adjustments & I saw none of that in this game, or this season from either coach. That Dolphins team was very very vanilla & nothing really fooled us. Everything was straight forward & a guy who watches as much film as BM does should be ashamed of himself. Nothing was disguised all game, everything was straight forward & if you just line up & play against us & dont try to fool us, you're going to get beat. We had 2 teams try to lineup & really show what they are doing & they both thought their "Talent" on the field would win their matchups. Both teams got blown out. If you are not going to get creative you're going to get beat. I am the best coach in this division & no one should pick either one of those teams over the Jets for the rest of the cycle. Sure they may catch us couple times, but I go into every season looking at 4 wins on the schedule. After what I saw the past two weeks, I was correct.
See you guys in two weeks
