Eagles Daily - Training Camp Updates - Season 62
Welcome to Eagles Daily, your home for Eagles updates throughout this cycle. In today's edition, we will be tackling the first few games from training camp, discussing key stats from these games, and depth chart battles!
Game 1: Philadelphia 34, Washington 3
Offense (487 Total Yards)
-Carson Wentz completed 26 of 33 passes for 434 yards and 4 touchdowns, with 2 interceptions in the win
-The running game struggled to get going, with Miles Sanders accounting for 49 yards on 14 carries, he did have a 1 yard touchdown plunge. Sanders also had 33 receiving yards. Boston Scott and Corey Clement each had 1 carry
-Zach Ertz accounted for 8 receptions and 68 yards, with 2 touchdowns. Marquise Goodwin who is currently fighting for the 3rd WR spot, accounted for 154 yards on 9 catches and 1 touchdown
-DeSean Jackson caught 1 ball, it went for a 98 yard touchdown
-Andre Dillard and Jason Peters allowed 1 sack each, 2 total from the Eagles offensive line
Defense (369 Yards Allowed)
-Dwayne Haskins completed 17 of 34 passes for 285 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions against the Eagles
-Nickell Robey-Coleman caught 4 of those 7 interceptions, Darius Slay had 1 interception
-Fletcher Cox had the lone Eagle sack of the game, he also had 3 tackles and 1 tackle for loss
-Rookie Davion Taylor led all linebackers in tackles with 5, he is competing for a starting spot in a position group that is completely up for grabs. Duke Riley was the next with 4.
Game 2: Philadelphia 24, Los Angeles 19
Offense (300 Total Yards)
-Carson Wentz completed 18 of 28 passes for 243 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Jalen Reagor went 1 of 1 for 8 yards on a pass completion to Wentz on a 'Philly Special'
-Jalen Hurts saw his first action, he a took a read option for a 32 yard rush
-The run game is still struggling, as Miles Sanders accounted for 36 yards on 12 carries, but did score 2 short touchdowns. Sanders has done more damage through the air, as he caught 6 balls for 73 yards. The backup running back spot is completely up for grabs between Scott and Clement
-Zach Ertz accounted for 5 receptions, 93 yards, and 1 touchdown. He now has 3 touchdowns in 2 games
-DeSean Jackson was the top wide receiver, with 4 grabs for 24 yards. Jalen Reagor also got the start over Goodwin, grabbing 3 balls for 33 yards
-Lane Johnson gave up the only allowed sack of the game
Defense (340 Yards Allowed)
-Los Angeles went 9-15 on 3rd down (60% conversion rate)
-Jared Goff completed 28 of 45 passes for 333 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions
-L.A was held to 45 yards rushing between Cam Akers and D.J. Henderson
-Tyler Higbee had a great game against Philadelphia's young linebckers, catching 9 balls for 113 yards and 1 touchdown
-Rookie linebacker Shaun Bradley caught an interception of Jared Goff. He is one of four linebackers battling for a starting spot. Darius Slay had the 2nd interception of Goff, giving Slay 2 interceptions through 2 scrimmages
-Fletcher Cox had 3 sacks, and 4 tackles. Malik Jackson and Avonte Maddox each had 1 sack
Game 3: Philadelphia 31, New York 17
Offense (379 Total Yards)
-Carson Wentz finished 17 of 25, for 289 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. This brings his 3 game totals to 8 touchdowns and 4 interceptions
-Miles Sanders had the breakout game we were waiting for, as he was given 18 carries, accounted for 92 yards and 1 touchdown. Corey Clement led backups with 3 carries
-Zach Ertz continues to be the top read for Wentz, finishing with 6 catches for 79 yards and 1 touchdown, his third straight game with at least 1 touchdown reception
-Jalen Reagor received his second straight WR3 start, catching 3 balls for 33 yards
-DeSean Jackson had 1 reception, for a 75 yard touchdown
-Andre Dillard was the only Eagle to allow a sack, bringing the 3 game total to 4
Defense (358 Yards Allowed)
-The defense held the Giants offense to 3 points until the 4th quarter
-Saquon Barkley rushed for 50 yards on 12 attempts, 22 of the 72 rushing yards allowed came from Daniel Jones (and the lone rushing TD)
-Fletcher Cox led the defense in sacks again, with 2.5 this game. He brings his total to 6.5 in 3 games. Josh Sweat, Derek Barnett, Shaun Bradley, Brandon Graham, and Nickell Robey-Coleman all had 0.5 or 1 sack
-Nickell Robey-Coleman caught an interception, his fifth in three games
Final Notes
-The linebacker position is completely up for grabs. T.J. Edwards, Shaun Bradley, Davion Taylor, Duke Riley, and Alex Singleton have all received snaps
-Jalen Hurts has taken 1 snap in 3 games
-Jalen Reagor has been the WR3 for two games, Marquise Goodwin has been slotted as the WR4.
-The Eagles offense has experimented with 2TE formations to get Dallas Goedert on the field more
-The Eagles offensive line allowed 4 sacks in 3 games, and the Eagles defensive line accounted for 12.5 in 3 games
