Alright everyone this is Jeff Darlington and I have a treat for you guys and I got an exclusive interview with the new Dolphin LB/DE Von Miller!
Me: hey Von thanks for joining me. How’s it going?
Von: I’m good Jeff, thanks for having me.
Me: So let’s get this going. So how do you like south beach?
Von: Man I love it. Not a fan of the possibility of hurricanes popping up but anything is better than dealing with snow in Colorado.
Me: Alright since you brought up Colorado, do you miss being a Bronco? And what happened that caused you to be traded as soon as Coach Astin took over?
Von: I see you are getting right to it. (chuckles) Well let me say this so there is. I love the Broncos fans. They are hands down one of the best fan bases out there. My teammates there were just as great. I’m gonna miss them and I can’t wait to see some my good friends there next week.
Me: So you left out what happened with Coach Astin and why you was traded.
Von: Yeah I know. I was hoping you would have forgot about it. So I wanna say I usually have no problem with coaching changes because I feel I can adapt to any Coach. When it comes to Coach Astin he has an arrogance about him I do not like. Before training camp started all I heard from him was him constantly reminding us that he is a genius and how many rings he has. So one of the team meetings he was talking about how he wasn’t impressed with my sack numbers before he became coach and gave me an ultimatum that I need to get better or he was shipping me out. He said this in front of the whole team like he was trying to make an example of me and I don’t react well to threats so I told him. “You haven’t won any of those rings here. So please trade me. I’m sure any team would be happy to happy to have me.
Me: Oh man.... I would have never thought of Coach Astin being cocky. Since then you have been traded to the Miami Dolphins and your new Coach is Coach Bird. Even though you guys are 2-3 how do you feel about your new team, new coach and new scheme?
Von: Man let me tell you guys something. Coach Bird is a no nonsense type of Coach. As soon as I walked in the building he told me he was exited to have me and he was going to do everything possible to make sure I succeed in the scheme. As for my teammates man this is group has a huge chip on their shoulder. We’ve seen where we were placed in the power rankings and we do not like it and we wanna prove everyone wrong. The fans are crazy and I live it they have welcomed me with open arms.
Me: that’s great to hear and I’m you love being a Dolphin. So any teammate you’ve gotten close with?
Von: man C-Wilk is my boy. I’m telling you right now a couple years he is gonna be one of most feared defenders in this defense.
Me: awesome! So you guys play your former team next week. Are you taking this game personal?
Von: Any competitive player is going to take playing their former team personal. I don’t wanna predict any crazy numbers personally but I wanna win this game and rub it in to my former teammates. (Smiling)
Me: What about sending a statement to Coach Astin?
Von: Naw forget that dude. Not wasting any of my energy on him.
Me: alright. Well Von I think that concludes our interview. Thanks for joining me today. You wanna say anything else?
Von: nah thanks for having me Jeff. Go Dolphins!
