Week 15 ATL VS GB
This week we have a very intriguing matchup for you guys, our Atlanta Falcons travel to the cold depths of Wisconsin to play the Green Bay Packers. A game of two tales, the Falcons come in having one of the most explosive offenses in the league and the Packers coming in with a defense as deadly as the cold weather they play in.
The Falcons come into today’s game with the 2nd ranked offense in terms of yards while being ranked 3rd in passing and 8th in rushing, while averaging 27 points a game respectively. Matt Ryan leads the way for the Falcons with 3574 yards passing to go along with 21 touchdowns to only 7 interceptions. Defensively the Falcons rank 9th in yardage, 21st in passing defense, and 1st in stopping the run while giving up 18 points a game. The defense is led by Captain Sean Lee who has 19 solo tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, and 3 interceptions so far this season.
The Packers on the other hand come in today’s game ranked 30th in total offense, 32nd in passing offense, and 5th in rushing offense while averaging 18 points a game. They are led by RB DeMarkus Goode who has 1232 yards rushing on 4.7 yards a carry to go along with 13 touchdowns…this guy is a STUD. Defensively is where the Packers will get you. Ranking 2nd in the league in total yards allowed, 2nd in passing defense, and 9th in rushing defense while allowing 18 points per game. The defense is led by LB Deron Rushing with 35 solo tackles, 9 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, and 1 interception.
We had a few questions to ask each coach, Starting with Coach Priest of the Packers.
1. What is your main focus going into the game?
Priest- The main focus would have to be making sure I balance my passing game with my strong running game. I have to try and fling the ball around the field more to help open the running game up more.
2. How do you think your star RB Goode will do against the number 1 ranked rushing defense in the league?
Priest- Goode is that Goode!! Give him the smallest hole and he will take it to the house. Keep an eye on number 34.
3. How does your 2nd ranked passing defense stop the 3rd ranked passing offense that the Falcons have?
Priest- Bring pressure, pressure, and more pressure! We want turnovers. Make Ryan rush his throws or get slammed into the cold ground at Lambeau Field.
4. Our last question for you, What is your prediction for the game?
Priest- I’ll have to say we win 21-14, we get pressure on Ryan forcing him into bad throws and Goode takes the game over like he always does.
Now a few questions for our very own Coach D-Wayne
1. What is your main focus for the game?
D-Wayne- We want to stop Goode, I’m sure every team he has faced has said the same thing. But I don’t think he’s seen a linebacking core as fierce as ours is. We have to take care of the ball offensively, way too many turnovers the last few games and our record shows that.
2. How do you game plan for such an amazing defense like Green Bay has?
D-Wayne- Honestly? You stick to what got you here and hope for the best. I have great respect for Coach Priest, his team is always well coached and disciplined. We just have to play our game, don’t turn it over, and not abandon our run game.
3. How has the loss of last year’s MVP Devonta Freeman changed your offense this year?
D-Wayne- Wow…I’m choked up just hearing his name. He was irreplaceable, he did so much for us. He kept the defense off the field and kept Matt from having to do to much. But…life goes on, Knile Davis has had an outstanding year so far. With him and Kenneth Dixon sharing the load it hasn’t been as big of a drop off running game wise as most would imagine. We’ve had to pass the ball more this year and Ryan for the most part has answered the call. Julio, Braxton, and newly acquired Deshun Jackson are playing awesome and it’s taken a lot of pressure off the loss of Freeman.
4. What’s your prediction for this weeks game?
D-Wayne- 28-27 Falcons win, I think we contain, not shutdown, Goode and make Green Bay throw the ball more. I think it comes down to a blocked extra point and we take home the much needed win.
