Titans defeat Bucs 17-10 and Newcomers Shine

The Tennessee Titans were able to hold off a late surge by the Bucs in the 4th quarter to escape Tampa Bay with a win to start off the season.

Marcus Mariota played it safe the majority of the game through the air, but was able to toss 2 TD passes, one of which went to Dorial Green-Beckham in the corner of the endzone on a jump ball.

The real rookie standout, however, was Jeremy Langford.

The free agent runningback out of Michigan State was able to rack up over 70 yards rushing on a very stingy Tampa Bay rush defense and showed a lot of promise to the future of the Tennessee rushing attack along with Bishop Sankey and Terrance West.

The contest was tightly contested at 3-3 until the middle of the 3rd quarter when Tennessee was able to score on a screen pass to Terrance West, followed by a forced turnover that gave them the ball on the Tampa 10 yard line. Tennessee was able to capitalize and stretch the lead to 17-3.

Tampa Bay was able to force a fumble early in the 4th quarter in their own red zone on 3rd and short while trailing. The following play led to a pass interference call resulting in a first down on the Tennessee 30 yard line. Tampa was able to punch the ball into the endzone just a few plays later to draw the game to one possession.

Tennessee was able to hold off the Bucs with ball control and field position late in the game.

The Titans goes on the road again next week to take on the Cleveland Browns, who dropped a shootout to the New York Jets in week 1.
