The Tennessee Titans traveled? to Detroit in week 5 to face the Lions, and coming into this game out of there bye they had good reason to have high hopes as their star wide receiver was making his comeback from injury. However the celebration was short-lived as the Titans got dismantled 31 - 21.
Marcus Mariota had a terrible day protecting the ball, as he was accountable for four interceptions. Each interception seemed worse than the previous, and let Detroit jump to an early two-touchdown lead. However, All Pro halfback Darius Jackson decided to put the team on his back and carry them to glory as he had over 100 yards and a touchdown in the first half bringing the Titans two a respectable position. Things didn't get better though as the Titans lost Jackson to a broken collarbone early in the third quarter leaving their offense more pedestrian than ever. Jackson is expected to miss 8 weeks with this injury and hopefully the Titans won't be out of playoff contention by the time he returns.
The Titans defense look no better as the rookie Lions quarterback had their way with them. The Titans couldn't find a way to stop the Lions from scoring until the second half, and by that time it was too late as the lions were already up 28 to 14.
The Titans limp home to Nashville to lick their wounds and open up their home to the Indianapolis Colts. This week 6 matchup mark very first home game for the Tennessee Titans. Let's hope they find a way to move the ball without Jackson and do a better job of slowing down the Colts' potent offense than they did the Lions.
